This book was not for me. My middle-school self would have eaten this up, so I know it has a place out there. But it just wasn’t my flavor.
The characters dealt with mature problems but had immature inner dialogue that made it hard for me to get through. I didn’t finish this book and don’t plan to, but I know there is an audience out there that would really like this book which I why I refrain from saying anything negative further.
Thanks to Netgalley for the advanced copy of this book.

As a big fan of The Selection, I was so excited to receive an arc of this from NetGalley! I was sucked in from the start and binged this 14 hour audiobook in 2 days! Such a delightful ride. If you liked The Selection, you’ll enjoy this standalone epic novel of two kingdoms and forbidden love.

I knew I was going to enjoy this book because I had read the author's past work and I was not disappointed. Our library has purchased this book for our collection.

Annika and Lennox’s love story is beautifully written. I really enjoyed the medieval setting and the plot was fun, full of action and adventure. The only part of the story that I wish could of been changed is how fast they seemed to fall in love with each other. I just didn't feel like there was enough build up to cement those intense feelings at that time and I just wasn't ready for the story to be over with.

3 ⭐️ I know this is a YA book but it fell short of my hopes. It was easy for me to set aside and read other books instead, so it took me a long time to finish. I did like Annika - she was strong but kind - but the story fell flat and was a little too long. I loved The Selection series and keep hoping for Cass to make me fall in love with characters like that again. Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for the ARC.

I had hoped this would be as enjoyable as Kiera Cass' Selection Series which continues to be popular in our high school library. Sadly, this stand-alone novel felt tedious and laborious as I read it. That said, I'm always wiling to read Cass' next tome as I've seen first-hand how my students respond to her storytelling when she is at the top of her game. Thank you #NetGalley and #HarpersTeen.

I was absolutely obsessed with the selection series growing up. I was a little hesitant, picking up another one of her books, since the first couple hit it out of the park for me, but I am happy that I picked this one up. I had a great time.

It was so good to once again to have another Kiera Cass novel in my hands. I had the pleasure of listening the audio version of this book. I had a hard time pausing because I wanted to keep hearing it. It was so so good. I loved it. Five stars.

I have loved Kiera Cass’s other books that I have read, and this one was also very enjoyable. I found the first half of the Story to be a bit slow, but the second half was far more engaging. I enjoyed the story and the romance, and I think it will certainly appeal to the YA audience.

I love Kiera Cass' work, especially The Selection. Unfortunately, I DNF'ed this one early on. I struggled to be captivated by the world in the way I was in Cass' other books. I think I will give it a shot again in the future when I'm craving a YA fantasy.

Was this the best book ever written? No. Will fans of The Selection snatch it off the shelves? Yes. Will they love it? Yes. It has the kind of romance and drama that will appeal to a certain kind reader, mostly teens and teen-at-heart.

Thank you to Netgalley, HarperCollins, and HarperTeen for allowing me to read this book!!!
As a teenager in high school I adore The Selection series, so I was really excited to pick up A Thousand Heartbeats. I loved the prologue, but the changed from third to first person did not go over well with me. I feel I would have enjoyed the book more if the whole thing was in third person. I did enjoy the permise of the book., but at the end of the day it wasn't for me.

While A Thousand Heartbeats didn’t quite hold up to The Selection, it was a nice Royal romance. It had some slow parts that dragged a bit, but overall enjoyable.

This book was definitely not for me, since I ended up DNFing it. The book started out very very slow and I know that people did find it interesting further in, it just wasn't for me. The book did not catch my interest and reading it seemed like a chore. The other books by Kiera Cass were definitely much better since they captivated the reader from the very beginning. I think I was 23% in the book and the characters hadn't even met, which was a little annoying ngl.

Yet another beautiful royal romance from Kiera Cass. The drama and conflict are so addicting you won’t want to put this one down.

I am a HUGE selection fan and I even really like her other works, which I know weren't everyone's cup of tea. It took me a long time to write this review because honestly I wanted to convince myself I liked it more than I did. I just really could not understand why I was meant to root for this couple. I will definitely continue to try her books. But this one just did not work for me at all.

Annika is a princess who has so many challenges in her life that she meets head on with dignified strength. Lennox is unable to escape his brutal existence and when his life collided with Annika their path converge into a turbulent future. I am a fan of other books by this author and wanted to give this a try. Romance and betrayal and I am so with Annika and Lennox. Where else can you stab someone and whisper words of love in the same heartbeat? Thanks to Netgalley for my copy. I haven’t read a YA book in a hot minute and was completely wrapped into this story.

If you enjoyed the Selection series, you’ll enjoy this story. I don’t think it’s giving anything away to say that Annika is a princess who doesn’t need saving she just needs a man who’s worthy of her.

Absolutely loved it! I kept not wanting to put it down and when I was away, all I could think about was finishing this book.

I just couldn't get into it. I don't know if there was just too many better options or if nothing else Kiera writes will ever interest me like the Selection did.
