I ended up listening to the audio version of this story and it was very nicely narrated. It kept me entertained and I enjoyed the way the narrator told the story. And what a story it was! This was a second chance love story with two people who had a big falling out years earlier. There were misunderstandings abounding in this book and as the characters worked through them, I was at times frustrated with them, especially Eliza, with how stubborn she was. There was a portion of the story where I had some trouble liking Eliza, as she flip flopped back and forth with the way she treated Levi. The poor man should have been suffering from whiplash!

Yet, even as I fussed at Eliza and wanted her to recognize what was in her own heart earlier than she did, I still enjoyed this story. Levi was a fairly patient man, yet he had a stubborn streak and a prideful streak, as well. These two both had a lot to learn about love and about communication. But it was a fun listen and I was intrigued by the sneak peek into book three that I was able to listen to. And even though I had not read book one in the series, I had no trouble jumping into this one.

This clean Amish romance was a wonderful comfort read. There wasn't too much drama or angst - just two good people finding their second chance at love. I liked the supportive families, and I liked the idea of the quilt signifying the process of forgiveness. It was pretty realistic with the mixed feelings that come not being immediately resolved. I'd recommend it for people looking for a soothing, clean romance.

As I began to read THE FORGIVING QUILT, I wasn’t disappointed, being instantly swept away. The writing was just as amazing as I’d remembered from the first book in this series, with three-dimensional characters you’ll fall in love with. The storyline is unique and rich. THE FORGIVING QUILT is the second book in the Shadow Lake series, but can be easily read as a stand alone. I always love Lenora Worth’s books. Her Amish fiction books are really interesting to me, as they’re a peek into a world I know very little about. She portrays that world so vividly. Eliza and Levi knew each other in the past when they were much younger. Now Eliza needs help as she has a broken leg and can’t take care of the animals. Both of these troubled people have painful pasts. Maybe it is time to let go of the hurt and try to move on. Can Eliza forgive Levi?

I really loved THE FORGIVING QUILT. Eliza and Levi are amazing, trying to make the best of a situation, well at first it was just Levi. Both are strong characters with just enough flaws to make them believable, but not too many to make them hard to like. Levi is one of my favorite heroes. I love the way he determinedly, but considerately, works to help Eliza overcome her fears, while strengthening his faith in the process. I absolutely love the last chapter of the book. The scene between the two main characters is touching. I also love the Christian message of faith and trusting in God throughout THE FORGIVING QUILT. For me, it added so much to the story and to the characters. The journey of Levi and Eliza coming to rely on God’s promise to never leave is an amazing and engaging story.

THE FORGIVING QUILT is a heart tugging story that will hold you hostage until the very last page. Once I started this heartwarming story, it was very hard to put down! All of the Amish value their family time at the kitchen table. It is where they come together after a long, hard day of work. Is there a place at the table for Levi and Eliza? THE FORGIVING QUILT deals with Levi’s attempt at being forgiven, how Eliza tries to help him piece his life together, while also making a quilt of their memories. I couldn’t wait to finish this wonderful story to see if Levi was able to find balance in his life. I’m so excited to continue with this series.

The Forgiving Quilt is the second title in the Shadow Lake series, and although I came into this series with this story I do wish I’d kept to my usual routine of starting at the beginning. Oh, you can read Eliza’s and Levi’s romance just fine without the previous story but I did feel as though I was missing parts of the overall story that I would have liked to know beforehand. But, that’s me – you may feel quite differently for we all may read the same book but not react to it in the same fashion.

Levi and Eliza have a history, one that happened back in high school, a time of raging hormones no matter your beliefs and, unfortunately, that courtship ended quickly when Levi made a wrong move… one that Eliza would not tolerate. Soon after, Levi left the community and has only recently returned years later. Now, he’s been hired to help with the horses since Eliza is down with a broken leg, a situation that she isn’t exactly happy about but acknowledges that they do need the help.

I enjoyed The Forgiving Quilt. It’s a second chance for Levi and Eliza to work out their past and let their natural attraction to each other play out naturally, if with a bit of hesitation on Eliza’s part. Trust is a fragile thing, and Levi is going to have to work hard to regain it, and he does so in charming small offerings that melted my heart. Eliza may feel that she was correct all those years ago in her decision, but time moves on, even for stubborn women determined to hold on to a grudge. I loved watching Levi’s actions slowly win her over to seeing what they could have together, today – if she’d only leave the past where it belongs and open her heart to new possibilities.

If you love second-chance romance, an inspirational Amish romance, seeing love win out in the end, and a very well-written tale then you’ll love this one. Now, excuse me while I go back and read The Memory Quilt.

The Forgiving Quilt is the second book in The Shadow Lake series, but can be read as a standalone story. The series is about independent sisters and the first book is about Abigail King finding her husband, this book is about Eliza. Eliza takes care of the animals at the farm and historic Inn, but when she falls and breaks her leg, she needs to hire someone to help. She is told about a man who is a farrier who would be able to help and when he shows up, it is Levi Lapp, her childhood nemesis as well as the man who broke her heart. Levi wants forgiveness for his actions in the past and even if he can't win Eliza back, he wants to try. As they spend more time together they begin to realize that there are still feelings there. With the encouragement of Abigail, they may just have a second chance.

I really enjoyed this Amish romance with great characters, an interesting storyline and a chance for forgiveness and love. Eliza was a likable character, but there were many times that she frustrated me. She and Levi had kissed when they were teenagers, but when he left, she felt totally abandoned, which she really needed to get over. Because of the negative feelings Eliza harbors, her sister convinces her to make a forgiving quilt to think about the time they are spending together in the present where they have fun together. As Eliza begins to fall for Levi, he starts to question her motivation and their relationship takes a step backwards. Once again communication is an issue with this couple, but when they finally just share what is in their hearts, it works. This is a story of forgiveness, second chances, family, taking chances, honesty and of course romance. I enjoyed this one and will be reading the first in the series to learn about Abigail's romance.

The Forgiving Quilt is the second book in The Shadow Lake series. It follows the lives of three sisters who run an Inn with their parents. This book focuses on Eliza, the middle sister. Eliza breaks her leg and the family has to hire someone to help with the inn. Eliza’s ex-boyfriend Levi, gets the job. They broke up because they weren’t ready to handle the feelings they had for each other. I enjoyed the book, but not as much as the first. Eliza and Levi’s relationship dragged on. It took too long for them to get back together.

I enjoyed this sweet romance of second chances. Eliza King along with her family run a Inn by Lake Erie. The family is strong in community and the sisters Eliza and Abigail are very independent women. Not in independent in the English sense but they speak their mind and work hard at the inn. The first of the series was on Abigail and the quilt her mother encouraged her to make and this one is on Eliza. Her mother has encouraged Eliza to make a quilt reflecting on forgiveness. Levi Lapp has come back to town after the death of his father. Levi had left the Amish community in bad terms with Eliza and now Levi has been hired to help Eliza with the inn. There is misunderstanding and mistrust between the two. Levi steps up more mature to win Eliza's heart. It is the little things that become big things for Eliza. However, with love there can be a fear of getting burned again and together thru suffering, they strengthen what they have. A mutual respect and maturity.

The quilt that Eliza is making helps her to see things that she may have missed and it is the story that the quilt tells that brings them together.

The Forgiving Quilt by Lenora Worth is the second book in The Shadow Lake series. It can be read as a standalone for those who have not read The Memory Quilt. I found The Forgiving Quilt easy to read thanks to Lenora Worth’s writing style. It is casual and friendly. The story moves along at a gentle pace. I enjoyed getting to know Eliza King and Levi Lapp as well as their families. The Forgiving Quilt is a story about forgiveness and letting go of past hurts. It is hard to move forward with your life if you are holding onto bitterness regarding a past incident. I like that Eliza’s mother had Eliza make a forgiveness quilt. It helped Eliza work through her past hurts and find a way to forgive. I wish Eliza had not been so stubborn. I did find it a touch aggravating after a while. There is a great deal of repetition in this book. The same details do not need to be repeated over and over (I got it the first time). I am glad that we get to catch up with Abigail and Jonah from The Memory Quilt. I enjoyed the animals in the story especially Levi’s horse, Rudolph. There are pearls of wisdom sprinkled throughout the story. One of my favorites is, “Forgiveness was such a beautiful thing.” There is an excerpt from the Christmas Quilt which is Colette King’s story (I am looking forward to reading it). The Forgiving Quilt is a clean Amish romance which provides a lovely escape from real life. The Forgiving Quilt is a sweet tale with a horrible fall, a hired helper, creating a quilt, finding forgiveness, and a second chance romance.

Forgiving is important
Author Lenora Worth presents her book "The Forgiving Quilt", the second book in the "Shadow Lake" Series, published by Kensington Books (Zebra). After six years Levi Lapp is back at Shadow Lake Inn near Lake Erie, Pennsylvania. He has two reasons for his return. The first reason is having been asked by Dr. Merrill to come and give his help to the King family. The second reason is to ask Eliza King to forgive him for dishonoring her family in "a foolish attempt to impress his friends during Rumspringa" (chapter 1). Eliza needs help after suffering a complicated break in her left leg but she struggle to accept it, especially from Levi. Will they ever be able to solve the issues that keep them apart?
O own a few books by Lenora worth, but this is the first one which I read that takes place among the Amish people. I enjoyed this clean romance with the likeable and realistic characters and the great story line about forgiveness. I highly recommend this book to readers who like novels that deal not only with romance but also with peoples' challenges set and for those who like novels set in the Amish environment.

This is a Clean Amish Romance, and this is the second book in the Shadow Lake series. I have read and reviewed the first book in this series, but I do think you could have read this book as a standalone. I really loved the characters in this book, and the storyline pulled me right into it. I do think that some parts of this book were a little too repetitive, but I still really enjoyed this book. I also felt the message in this book was really good. I enjoyed this second book to the series. It deals with the ideas of forgiveness and moving forward. While making the forgiveness quilt, Eliza learns that second chances are an option. I received a copy through Netgalley. A review was not required.

Letting Go of the Past

Eliza King is not very happy to find out that her former beau, Levi Lapp, has returned and will be working in her place while she heals from an accident. Eliza and Levi's past is riddled with deep hurts. Levi's goal is for Eliza to forgive him and for them to possibly have a relationship. He tries everything he can think of to make that happen. However, Eliza isn't very quick to buy into Levi's plan, until her mother encourages her to make a forgiving quilt. Even then, the road for these two is not a smooth one. Misunderstandings, lack of communication, letting go of the past, and even some characters created snags in their relationship. Nevertheless, watching their relationship develop with its ups and downs is what had me turning pages to see how it would all play out, The end result is one that did not disappoint making this a story I highly recommend.

This second book in the Shadow Lake series is a heartfelt penned tale of forgiveness and the path one might need to take to truly find peace and forgiveness of self and others. Eliza and Levi reconnected when he returned home after being gone. Eliza didn’t want him working in the family stables but she had no choice with her injury. There were disappointments, victories and valleys Eliza and Levi face weekly with their relationship. I appreciated the wisdom of Eliza’s mother in suggesting she make a forgiving quilt to overcome her pain, guilt and gain a deeper understanding of forgiveness.

This is a clean Amish romance with lovable characters. It was nice to catch up with the King family at their beautiful inn and stables and reconnect with characters from The Memory Quilt. The Forgiving Quilt can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading book one first.

This is Worth's second book in the Shadow Lake Inspirational Romance Series. There are a lot of the same characters from the first book, including the three independent King sisters who run the Inn. Eliza King fell from a rickety ladder and badly broke her leg, so they need to hire someone to help with the horses, since she can no longer do that. Enter Levi Lapp, Eliza's childhood nemesis, who had gone into the outside world to learn the trade of being a top-notch farrier. He's now back home to support his mother and siblings, as his dad recently passed. away. .By working for the King's and others in the community, he'll be able to do this. Can Eliza forgive him his past, and can Levi be convinced that he's good enough for Eliza to marry?

I enjoyed this book with its theme of forgiveness running through it and the Amish lifestyle. I think it would be best to read the first book before this one,, so you get the backstory.

A beautiful story of love forgiveness and hope. Eliza and Levi’s story shows how miscommunication and fear of the future can hinder a relationship. The author develops the story in her growth of characters and their being able to wait on God. The quilt tells a story of how the little things matter most and shows the depth of real love!

I typically start my reviews with my own description of the story … but the one done by the author/publisher is excellent. A rewording by this reviewer wouldn’t do "The Forgiving Quilt" justice. Please read on NetGalley or your favorite book-purchasing website.

This story is loaded with wise statements. But I think my favorite — not wise — but brought a big smile was “I’m not stubborn. I’m decisive.“ My daddy could at times be one stubborn man. If he had ever heard that one — he would have used it for the rest of his life.

How could I not like Eliza, at least most of the time — she doesn’t like brussels sprouts and I can’t stand ’em. Yuk! But there was an aspect of Eliza’s personality that wore on me as the story progressed which is why I rated “The Forgiving Quilt” with 4.5 stars instead of 5.

Eliza held onto a grudge for too long. I would have liked to see her character mellow sooner or at least argue with herself about it. The book is about forgiveness and I loved the idea of "The Forgiving Quilt".

This book is the second in the series but it could be read standalone. I had read the first book of the series, “The Memory Quilt”.

Pearls of wisdom sprinkled throughout. A big gray Percheron named Samson loves Eliza. And Eliza loves all her horses … and books.

I just can't get over the fact that I knew this story and I had read it prior to this. It didn't say it was a re-released book, but it has to be....
It was a good book, but just so oddly familiar.

I love Amish romance, and having read book one in this series was excited to read book two. It was just as good as book one.

The theme of forgiveness is a good one and the book really hit me hard. Sometimes we say we forgive, but deep in our heart we still harbor resentment, anger, and an unforgiving heart.

It made me examine my own heart and realize their were those I needed to forgive.

A beautifully written story.

Five stars. Recommend.

This is a second chance romance that was a joy to read. Eliza and Levi's story is a heartwarming read that is full of forgiveness and learning to trust again. If you enjoy Amish romance, you will love this book.
