Rebecca Ross delivered a beautiful conclusion in A Fire Endless. Wonderful character growth, strong family ties. Just superbly written and a joy to read.

I find it rare nowadays to find a book that really grabs me from start to finish, but the Elements of Cadence duology had me hooked pretty much from the beginning. I thoroughly enjoyed reading through each character's perspective, and found many of the character arcs deeply satisfying and well rendered. The plot was well paced and well conceptualized from start to finish, making it difficult to put down. I will greatly miss reading about Jack, Adaira, Sidra, and Torin's adventures (although I have the feeling I will be re-reading both books soon).

*Warning: This review contains spoilers for book 1, “A River Enchanted.”*

“A Fire Endless” is just the sequel I was hoping for. Thanks to Netgalley I was able to read it early! Cozy fantasy is my jam, and I loved it so much.

As tensions rise between the Tamerlaines and the Breccans, will they ever find peace in Cadence? Is war imminent?

Despite falling in love, Jack and Adaira are separated at the end of “River” when Adaira has no choice but to give up the comforts of home and move to the west. Since Breccans do not allow music in the west, she refuses to let Jack come with her. After their joyful union, it was heartbreaking to see them torn apart. Jack grapples with music and fire in the east while Adaira gets to know her birth parents and the workings of the west.

Meanwhile, Sidra is faced with finding a cure to a mysterious illness that is spreading from the sick orchard. She’s wise and strong and wants to protect Torin and their community while so much is unknown. I loved her character in both books.

Rebecca Ross did not disappoint with the warm characters and vivid descriptions. The beginning was a little slow (mostly because I was impatient to see certain characters together!), but I was thrilled to dive back into the world of Cadence and loved every page. I only wish I got to spend even more time with these characters.

I definitely plan to buy a copy when this releases on December 6th. December is the perfect release month because you’ll want to grab a hot drink and and a fluffy blanket to curl up with this one on the couch. Highly recommend if you enjoy immersive/cozy fantasy.

The story of the Isle of Cadence has come to an end. But have they?

The story begins with where we left off, Adaira is in the West with the Breccans. She learns the brutal truth of her heritage and is trying to figure out how to live her life accordingly. While Adaira is gone, Jack is grieving her departure. Torin and Sidra are investigating a new sickness that affects both crops and humans.

With that being said, I do like how we were able to learn more about the lore of the island. We discover more about the spirit realm and the Bane, specifically through the eyes of Torin as he is kind of trapped there. I did enjoy Kae's story and her standing up to the Bane.

The introduction of new characters were great. We got to get to know Adaira's bio parents along Jack's family. We got to see how the Breccan's lived in such a harsh environment.

My biggest gripe is the pacing, especially at the ending after Jack went to the spirit realm. We could have gotten

I am pretty sure that this is just Sidra and Torin's story. Their characters are beautifully interwoven, however, the ending seemed quite abrupt. Yes, we see the two come together at the end, but I felt like there could have been a bit more. What was life like after they came back to the East? What about Maisie or even how the east is running? We see Torin deal with learning of Sidra's pregnancy and how much that affects him, but nothing more. We touch on Torin drinking himself to feel numb, but we never touch on it again. And yes, this is Jack and Adaira's story, but it is also theirs as well. I feel like we were missing a chapter about them.

Jack and Adaira's ending... I just feel uneasy about it. We see a lot of growth from Adaira, but I feel like Jack just stayed where he was the whole time. He didn't really grow. Which is fascinating since he was an interesting character in A River Enchanted. He played a huge roll in the island, but it wasn't written in that way.

Honestly, this was one of my most anticipated reads, especially after reading A River Enchanted. It fell short in the last quarter of the book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Voyager for an ARC of this book to read. All opinions are my own.

In the Elements of Cadence duology, Rebecca Ross weaves an enchanting tale steeped in folklore and magic.

This was such a beautiful story of family, heartbreak, endurance, and love. Ross brings the Isle of Cadence and its inhabitants (humans and spirits alike) to life through her lyrical prose and provides answers to all your burning questions from A River Enchanted. I highly recommend this stunning conclusion!

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Voyager for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

First of all, I was so excited when I saw that I was approved for this book! I absolutely adored "A River Enchanted" and was thrilled when I saw there was going to be a sequel.
This book did not disappoint one bit. I was enthralled in the action, and the plot. We got to learn more about the Breccan clan, which I was hoping for. There was more about lore, and the spirit realm. I loved the new characters that were introduced, and our cast of original characters was built on, and their journeys got even deeper. I seriously cannot say enough great things about this series, it has risen to be one of my favorites. I would venture to say that this sequel was better than the first book!
If I were to nit-pick I would just say that I wanted more from Frae and more of the sisters!
Overall, this was a 5 star read for me. It compounded on the first story, and gave more depth and character to the already amazing writing of Rebecca Ross!

When I finished “A Fire Endless” last night, the only sounds that came out of my mouth were the same sort of inarticulate, high-pitched squealing you’d hear at a Harry Styles’ concert (or so I’d imagine). I thought I loved Rebecca Ross’s “A River Enchanted” but that love is pitiful compared to how I felt about the sequel— I absolutely adored this story. Ross built on the lives of the beloved characters (Adaira, Jack, Torin, Sidra– my goodness, I love them all) in passionate and believable ways, weaving a beautiful story of love and endurance. I would absolutely, highly recommend this book.

This duology has taken me by surprise! When I got RIVER ENCHANTED as my BOTM I was not expecting to love it as much as I did. Sooooo I was thrilled when my request to read a early copy of A FIRE ENDLESS was granted!

While A RIVER ENCHANTED was about the Tamerlaine clan, A FIRE ENDLESS is about the Breccan clan. There’s more magic, more clan politics, and no regard for human life. The. Breccans are a brutal clan but it makes them soooo much more fun then the Tamerlaine’s 😆

Read if you like…
-feuding Scottish clans
-mystery
-atmospheric writing
-love (DISCLAIMER: these are NOT romances, it’s not a major plot point)

this was a beautifully done final book in the Elements of Cadence duology, and I had enjoyed the A River Enchanted. A Fire Endless took what I enjoyed from the previous book and improved greatly on this. The story and the world were what I wanted and it had great scifi elements going on. I enjoyed getting back to these characters and wished that we had more adventures with them. I love the way Rebecca Ross writes and can't wait to read where she'll go next.

“Let this scar remind you of your foolishness,” she had said as his blood flowed down his face, dripping onto the hay. Transforming into blue jewels. “Let this scar remind you not to touch those I love ever again, or my next judgment won’t be so merciful. Do you understand, Rab?” “I understand, Cora,” he rasped."

I was really excited for this book to come out. And I wasn't disappointed; it ties up loose ends and expands the lore (I was proud of myself for figuring out one part of it and just needed the characters to catch up).

Torins journey could be slightly shorter; if we're spending time in the spirit realm, lets really spend time there and less time on Rab and some of Adi just roaming castles. Or expand the book to fully focus on these separate journeys all coming together at the end. For instance, Sidra though lovely and a good character, probably needed a bit less time. More time in libraries! And maybe just a bit more time on the sisters (did that even have a resolution), jewel turning poison and the real deal with Joan. And Frae! What's her story.

This seems like a gripe but it's more because I became so invested in the world that was built I wanted to spend more time there and give the story room to breathe. Because if more ever takes place on the isle I hope to be there.

3.5 rounded up
