It was great to be back with these characters again. I won't say too much since it's a sequel.
The spirits play a bigger role in this one. Lots of perspectives.

I loved these characters! Adaira and Sidra are my favorites. I am sad that this was just a duology, but I did like the way it ended.
I loved this, but I loved the first one just a little more.

A beautiful conclusion to this duology. A River Enchanted is one of those books that I read and enjoyed and then couldn’t stop thinking about after I had finished it. And I know A Fire Endless is going to be the same way. I absolutely love the characters that Rebecca Ross writes, her characters are beautiful and are flawed and even though the setting in this book is so atmospheric, I think the strongest part of this book is her characters. I loved the story of this one and although it felt a bit repetitive at times, I think it was a perfect conclusion. I do wish the writing in this book was a bit more descriptive, although the book itself is filled with beautiful atmospheric writing, I found myself wishing for a bit more description. Would recommend and absolutely see myself re-reading in the future.

This is by far one of my all-time favorite duologies! When I wrapped A River Enchanted, I genuinely didn't understand how Rebecca Ross would continue the story, let alone write something even MORE compelling than the first. And yet, here we are. A Fire Endless took the stunning atmospheric tone of book one and expanded the world in a beautiful way. This story focuses less on the feuding clans and more on the impact of the spirits. It's dark, but somehow so hopeful. I fell so hard for every character, but Adaira and Jack will always be one of my favorite love stories. They continue to evolve and grow throughout this book even in their separation and the ending had me WRECKED. I can't recommend this duology enough! It's got gorgeous writing, deeply connected characters, a plot that consistently surprises you, and a setting that feels both haunting and comforting. 5 stars, no doubt in my mind.

Wow this was a big book. It went in an unexpected direction which I liked. Very different from the first book but enjoyable. Really loved the relationships and community.

A Fire Endless picks up a short while after the events of A River Enchanted and jumps right into the story, with the clan adjusting to their new normal. Unfortunately, not everyone is happy with the resolutions the clans have come to, least of all Bane, the spirit of the north wind.

A Fire Endless was everything I could have asked for, and then more. This duology is really and truly one of the most stunning pieces of fiction I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Both books are incredibly enchanting and emotional stories about love and loss. There honestly isn't much I can say about this series without either spoiling it, or just rambling about how fantastic it is, so instead I'm going to simply encourage you to take this as the sign you need to pick up this series.

I will start by saying I really enjoyed A River Enchanted. It was a unique story, and the writing was beautiful. I had such high hopes for A Fire Endless, but it wasn’t the book for me. I got tired of the people who loved each other being at odds so much of the time. This carried over from the first book, and was one thing I didn’t care for in both books. This book also moved a little too slowly for my taste. It took me until about 75% in to start enjoying the story, unfortunately. I know I’m very much in the minority with these opinions, and that’s ok. Not every book is for every person. I’m still looking forward to reading more from this author as I really like her beautiful writing style.

Thank you Netgalley for the e-arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

A beautiful follow-up to the magical A River Enchanted, A Fire Endless is lush, romantic, and richly fairy tale-esque. While the plot feels occasionally rushed or oversimplified in spots, perhaps in an attempt to tie up all the elements set up in the first book, it's still a satisfying and splendid conclusion to a truly enchanting duology.

Thank you to the publisher for the advance review copy.

Second book in the Isles of Cadence duology. So make sure to read A River Enchanted first.

Short synopsis; Adaira is trying to adapt to her new life in the west, while her family in the east is trying to find a remedy for the blight killing the trees and people.

My thoughts: I loved this so much, it left me teary multiple times.

This is such a beautifully written book, while it’s fantasy it didn’t feel like heavy fantasy. I could completely imagine the world built on the Isle of Cadence, and I grew to love each of the characters. They were such amazing well written characters that the reader was able to form a bond with.

The alternating perspectives between Adaira, Jack, Torin, and Sidra was written so flawlessly I had no trouble keeping up with that was happening in each part of the separated Isle. And the ending was everything I could have ever hoped for.

Do yourself a favor, if you love fantasy or if you’re wanting to give it a try please pick up this book!

Read if you love:

It's wonderful. I loved it. Quite possibly one of the most beautiful series I've ever read.

Read this book (series) if you like:
-folklore about nature spirits
-Scottish highlands type setting (it’s a made up world tho)
-music, singing bards
-rival kingdoms and political intrigue
-not one but TWO DELICIOUS ROMANCES
-the Taylor Swift song “the lakes”

5/5 stars
3/5 🌶️

I will be not be sharing reviews via social media until Harper Collins decides to come to the table with HC Union to talk about a fair contract.

I almost don't have words for how much I loved this book.

Starting five weeks after the ending of A River Enchanted, readers are quickly brought up to speed on what is happening with Sidra, Torin, Adaira and Jack, and the author does an amazing job of pacing all of the different POVs with new and old settings, stressful and emotional conflicts, and individual and couple arcs that had me wanting to devour and savor every single word at the same time.

Once again, the writing in this story is mature and exciting, effortlessly weaving together beautiful descriptions and purposeful dialogue. I love how both sides of the island are brought to life with such vivid and stark contrasts, and how the magic of the spirits is an integral part to the story.

Every character in this story developed in such a real way, and I love how so many things were brought full circle in A Fire Endless. The ending left me in tears - sad that the story had ended, but so happy to have had the experience.

As her debut adult duology, Elements of Cadence has proven that Rebecca Ross can create immersive worlds and beautiful characters that will stay with readers for a long, long time.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Genre: Fantasy
Age Level: Adult
Content: some violence, mature fade-to-black scenes

I absolutely loved A River Enchanted and have been looking forward to the conclusion all year long, with very high expectations. And the finale has far beyond exceed my hopes and expectations. It was wonderful to see everyone again and to be immersed in the atmospheric writing that I loved in the first book.

And while Torin was getting on my nerves a bit and was next to useless most of the story, I loved where each character was taken and wish we could see more of them, even after an ending that wrapped everything up so nicely

A Fire Endless, by Rebecca Ross, continues the storylines from A River Enchanted, but also greatly expands the world building of Cadence. The four main characters - Jack, Adaira, Torin, and Sidra - struggle to halt a growing threat and adapt to their new responsibilities on the island.

A River Enchanted, the first book in the Elements of Cadence duology, was set primarily in the East, focusing on the Tamerlain clan. In A Fire Endless, much of the plot is set in the West - where we learn more about the Breccan Clan - and in the mysterious world of the spirits.

The introduction of new spirit characters strengthens the magical vibe that I found so appealing in book one. Bane, the North wind, makes an excellent villain, feared by both Breccans and the spirits he rules. Kae, a wind spirit, is banished to the mortal world and provides valuable information to both Adaira and Jack. We also meet Hap, an earth spirit, who guides Torin in the spirit realm.

It’s Torin and Sidra who, in my mind, are tested most often and show the most growth in character. Ross does a brilliant job writing them both with realistic doubts, desires, and fears. As a reader, I’m always rooting for them. They are the more fallible, more human couple. Jack and Adaira, in contrast, are intriguing and inspiring, but far less relatable.

The transition from A River Enchanted to A Fire Endless is seamless. The relationships continue to be beautifully written, and the plot has an urgency that will keep you turning the pages. If you enjoyed A River Enchanted, A Fire Endless is a sequel you shouldn’t miss.

Thank you to Avon, Harper Voyager, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

I loved this book like I loved book 1. I could not put it down and was very invested in the characters and story.

This novel picks up from where A River Enchanted left off, and it definitely hits the ground running. New characters are introduced, and these are complex, fleshed-out characters. Ross ups the ante with higher stakes, but the lush, mysterious Scottish setting is even more complex and multi-layered. Literally, the perfect conclusion to an amazing duology that you can ever wish for. Deserving of all 5 stars!

So excited for the sequel to River enchanted. Really loved the combination of real and fantasy. Super beautifully written while also being suspenseful - so hard to do in my opinion!

(4.75/5) I've been putting off finishing this book because of busyness and because I truthfully did not want it to end. I love the way Ross develops and grows her characters and skillfully shares each journey. It takes talent to write a multi-POV book where the reader isn't tempted to wonder what's happening to one character when you're reading another's POV but I found myself so invested in each POV that the book sped by when I actually had time to read (December is so busy!). I thought this duology tied itself together so well, and I was happy with how things ended up (though I did subtract 0.25 stars for the predictability of it). Cheers to Rebecca Ross for writing such a masterpiece!

Yay! I finished this duology! I’m so happy I read these books and totally satisfied with the ending.

First and foremost, the characters are just everything. In this book they have a lot to do and some of it requires them to be a little bit more isolated and work on their own. That leads to each character, Sidra, Torin, Jack and Adaira, to be tested and challenged but even though they are separated, they also use each other’s strength to carry on. Some wonderful and heartbreaking moments in this book.

World-building is super exciting as we learn more about the West. The two clans are so different and nothing like life and death situations to bring everyone together. I think Adaira was the perfect person to start bringing both clans towards peace because of her situation. Everyone has their part to play, it isn’t easy but one step at a time.

Overall, this book was really as wonderful as the first. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a spin-off series or something else. I think there is a lot to explore in the isle of Cadence still.

Rebecca Ross is definitely turning into one of my favorite authors. I love her writing and her books. I have a couple more to read and Divine Rivals as well but this duology was my favorites of this year!

Thank you to Harper Voyager and Netgalley for sending me a copy of this book to read and review. I loved this duology. I loved the first book, but the second book blew me out of the water. The revelations and how things came to be in the present were done so well. The relationships were so beautiful and I thought the development and role each character played in this installment was so fitting and so important. It was so great to see both Adaira and Jack as well as Torin and Sidra grow and evolve. The use of the spirits in addition to music as the magic system was so thought out and done exceptionally. I loved everything about this book and there were definitely some parts where I was on the edge of my seat. This was a wonderful fantasy mixed with wonderful friendships and romance and I can't wait to read more of Rebecca Ross's work.

There’s just something about this series that I can’t help but love. The four main characters are so real in their wants and problems that I became so attached to them. The world itself is the epitome of a fairytale. The Scottish folklore and magic is so immersive and visual I can see the isle and all the parts of the story.

This was such a solid duology. I think two was the perfect amount of books for this story to come to a close. The pacing is so good that i was never bored or uninterested in any of the povs. I really liked what the final conflict ended up being and was a little scared at first but the ending was just what I wanted.

I hope that they all can have nice relaxed lives now and just be happy together.

These will always be books I recommend when someone is looking for a fantasy recommendation. Cannot wait to read what Rebecca Ross writes next!
