A Fire Endless by Rebecca Ross is the final book in her wonderful Elements of Cadence duology. I have become a fan of Rebecca Ross’s wonderful fantasy novels. A Fire Endless picks up where the first book left off. Adaira is now in the West, trying to adjust to a more difficult life, as well as learn more about her true family (Breccans), her mother, Innes being the laird of the West and her father David. She misses her husband, Jack, who was left in the East, since being a bard, he cannot play music in the West.

In the East, Jack misses Adaira, but is determined to use his harp, to sing to the spirits, who suffer from King Bane’s nasty powers, bringing severe sickness to crops and people. The blight continues to grow, and Sidra, the healer in Tamerlaine, becomes infected, trying desperately to find a cure. Torin, the Laird of the East, finds himself approached by a spirit, who needs him to solve a puzzle, which would help save the land. He is then stuck in the spirit realm, trying to search for the clues, to free himself, and stop the blight; with him being unable to see anyone in the mortal world, including his wife, Sidra and daughter, Maisie.

Adaira slowly begins to learn more about her parents, and the world within the Breccan clan; but she also tries to change the way things are being done, especially the culling. In a short time, Jack, will decide to join Adaira in the West, since he wants to be with his wife, and willing to give up his music. It was a dangerous journey for Jack, as some evil Breccans threatened his life, with Adaira coming to his rescue. Very exciting. I loved Jack and Adaira together, as they were a fantastic couple.

With both the East and West beginning to suffer the terrible consequences of Bane’s rule, they will need to find a way to bring both sides together, as well as the spirits, who also suffer from Bane’s horror. Each of them (Adaira, Jack, Sidra and Torin) have their own difficult arcs, as we spend time with each of them in their compelling journeys. Jack’s gift of music will bring Bane to destroy the spirits, more blight and stop the Bard. Will Jack survive?

What follows was an amazing, fantastic adventure in a world filled with magic, spirits, enemies, betrayals and romance. There are some surprising twists, that will eventually force the two clans to join together to save the Isle of Cadenc. Adaira, continues to be a fantastic heroine, as she was strong independent, determined, savvy and fierce. I loved Jack, Sidra and Torin, who played major parts in this story.

A Fire Endless was a wonderful, captivating, unique story filled with spirits, magic and folklore. To say too much more would ruin it for you, as you really do need to read this fantastic finale. Rebecca Ross once again gives us a wonderful fantasy, with great characters and keeping me enthralled from start to finish. If you have not read this duology, I suggest you start with A River Enchanted, then read A Fire Endless.

First of all thank you Netgalley and Harper Collins for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review. This book was amazing. A fitting and perfect conclusion in this duology. The story sang and flowed like a bard's song. This book and its predecessor are hands down the best books I've read this year. I chuckled, I teared up, I was drawn into this world. I will be telling everyone I know about this book, and it is my intention to purchase official copies not only for myself but others as well. Beautiful story and engaging characters who grow. 11 out of 10

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest opinions.

Genre: Fantasy with a Scottish flair
Heat Level: Medium (There's a bedroom scene but not explicit.)
Age: Adult

I adored the first book in this duology, and this one is just as fantastic!

The magic system differing and dividing the island is genius. I feel like the author captured the essence of the people and ran with it. In fact, I think this book should be read by all fantasy-lovers to enjoy and sit on their shelves.

We pick right up where we left off with a perfectly done prologue. Inside the Spirit court, they are scandalized by Jack singing to them in previous book. And one wind Spirit is cast to earth as a punishment of her defiance against the king.

A child is dead. But it's worse than that—he has some disease that crept up his leg. And the connections and mystery continues as they try to solve this. The characters guess the disease is not natural but can't imagine why the Spirits are unhappy with them. Jack, the musician, and Torrin, the laird, team up to try and solve the problem.

On the other side of the isle, Adaira, who sacrificed her freedom to bring peace to the fighting factions faces another foe. Her mother is the laird and is all sharp angles instead of affection. And Adaira's life is at risk from the people. And why is there no music on this side of the island?

I highly recommend this duology! But read it in order. :)

This was a fiery end to what felt like a long ballad. It was lyrical in prose and fantastical in setting. This little island saw a lot of damage from the spirits in this edition and a lot rested on its communities of mortals to fix it. We finally learn how the west has been living and it is shocking to see. The story takes us through Adaira’s new role in her family where it’s more cut throat and court politics are deadlier. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen to my favorite characters and I think this story does them all justice. Jack and Adaira’s story is prominent as it should be and it really shaped them romantically and their choices stayed true to character. this little isle was a beautiful story.

So after reading this duology. I’ve come to realize that these are not for me. I need more action and plot Vs what I got from this. I love the authors other books but sadly these missed the mark for me.

This is an absolutely exquisite conclusion to the Elements of Cadence duology.

I liked A River Enchanted but I loved A Fire Endless.

The groundwork built in the first book was already exceptional but the continuation in the sequel blew me away. The writing in this is just as atmospheric and lyrical; the overlapping narratives and the struggles and triumphs all in weave together to create a whimsical and satisfying story. I am so fond of all the characters we have grown to love on such an intimate level. Watching them grow as individuals as well witnessing their relationships develop and grow stronger was phenomenal.

Finishing this duology was bittersweet.

If you're looking for a fantasy read full of magic, heart, whimsy, and folklore, I implore you to pick this series up.

One thing I really appreciate about this series is that it’s clean. Minimal swearing, closed door romance and nothing my family can’t read.

I loved the first book. I loved the pacing, story and characters. But I won’t lie, I struggled with this one. I feel like it was way too long winded, and not much happened. Obviously there’s a war between the island and Bane, but otherwise, it was just couples trying to be reunited. Which didn’t make for a great story.

Loved the world. Loved the characters. But didn’t love it nearly as much as the first one.

As I am sitting here after finishing the last chapter, I am trying to think of words to describe this book. I have never read anything that makes me feel this complete in a story. This world Rebecca created is beautiful, magical, and heartwarming. At times this book had me on the edge of my seat, in tears, and warm. When I read the first book, I described it as reading a hug. This book is no different. I will be reading this series again.

To Rebecca: thank you for creating such a wonderful story. 💙

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I don’t know about you, but my friends have been talking about this series for a long time. They’re all obsessed with A River Enchanted so I had to see what the hype was about. 😅

A Fire Endless—and this whole series, really—is so unique and intriguing. Rebecca Ross did a fabulous job in creating a world that draws you in. The romance, story plot, and trials were all so good!! The struggles of the East and West, the balance of the spirits, and the separation of Jack and Adaira were heartbreaking.

Well done to Rebecca Ross and her amazing duology! This is one to keep an eye out for.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I loved this book. Pure, unabashed love.

I had received A River Enchanted as an ARC, and claimed it as my favorite book of this year. Nothing has topped it- until maybe now.

This was a lovely conclusion to the series even as it left me wishing that there would be more. I didn't think I could fall deeper in love with the characters, but I did. The flow was fast paced, and the author writes in such a way that you just lose yourself and immerse fully into the story. It truly is beautiful writing.

I would highly recommend this book!

Reading A Fire Endless was an emotional roller coaster. Not only did it keep me up at night because I kept saying, "one more chapter" until I basically was falling asleep with exhaustion, but also I cried. This series ender had me emotionally invested to the core. I have loved the world building of spirits and magic, which is only evolved and furthered in A Fire Endless. Talk about a world of magical deals and spirits which would probably kill me, but which I love reading about.

But what kept me reading was my emotional investment in the characters. With this island poised on war - seriously conflicted - A Fire Endless had me already shaking my head from the beginning. I kept thinking, "look if my faves don't make it out alright..." Tears were shed and no spoilers will be given about exactly why. It's one of those sequels which broke my heart and put it back together all at once.

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for the ARC!

I loved A River Enchanted so i was so excited to read this. It felt like this the perfect conclusion to the Elements of Cadence series.

I love that in A Fire Endless we got to see more of the romance, and it felt like there was more character growth. Each POV was really interesting to read, and overall the story felt like it was really fleshed out.

The isle of Cadence has always been divided. The East and the West. The human world and the spirit world. The Breccans and the Tamerlaines. Jack Tamerlaine and his wife, Adaira, had hopes of striking a balance between the warring clans, but instead, they threw the island into even more disarray when long-buried secrets came to light. With Adaira over in the West struggling to find her place within the brutal Breccans and her new family, Jack is left adrift until he sings to the weakening fire spirits and is given a dangerous quest.

With Jack's mission taking him into the West to Adaira, Torin and Sidra must try to uncover the cause of a strange blight plaguing their land and people. When Sidra is infected, Torin strikes a bargain with the spirit world, and soon the entire group discovers something even more sinister is brewing. Bane, the vicious Northern Wind and king of the spirits, is determined to claim dominion over the whole island. With the island falling off-kilter, Jack and his friends must unite the humans and spirits together if they hope to stop Bane. But Jack knows first-hand the price one must pay for challenging Bane, and the sacrifice may be larger than anyone can bear.

I read the first book earlier this year and fell in love with it, so I was highly anticipating this follow-up. I did find the pacing slower than the first and thought it took longer for the plot to develop, but I was still hooked. The whole setting and atmosphere Ross created were so enchanting. It somehow managed to feel cold and brutal yet warm and cozy all at the same time. The island is steeped in magic that's so intriguing, and I loved getting more glimpses into the spirit world. I also liked learning more about the backstory between the feuding clans and watching as Jack and Adaira fought so hard to bridge the divide. I was nervous toward the end because I wasn't sure how everything would wrap up, but it felt very satisfying and fitting. I loved following along with these characters and their journeys, and this has definitely become one of my favorite fantasy series.

I am obsessed with this series and this was the perfect conclusion to the Elements of Cadence duology!

I loved this book. It picks up right where we left off in A River Enchanted and is quick to introduce new conflicts while also weaving together elements from the previous book. I loved learning more about the spirits of the isle and more about the west. I really enjoyed the increased tension and higher stakes the plot added while still maintaining a cozy, mystical, and wholesome atmosphere.

The characters that Ross has created are perfection. They are complex and nuanced and deserve the world! The way that Adaira & Jack, and Torin & Sidra, as well as the many other characters, relate and interact with one another is so genuine and lovely. I thoroughly enjoyed the growth of each romantic relationship, especially the growth that was shown even when the characters spent so much time apart! Each relationship is different and I really loved the portrayal of many different, yet powerful types of love.
I also really loved the themes of this book. There is so much focus on healing - physically, spiritually, mentally, and many other ways.

I saw another review that mentioned that the word “romantic” really encapsulates this series, and I definitely agree. The relationships, the setting, the magic, and the writing are so beautiful and intensely romantic.

I cannot recommend this series enough!

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for the ARC!!

Thank you for the opportunity to read this eARC.
This was such an incredible sequel to A River Enchanted. While I enjoyed the first book, I really loved this one and it tops the first one for sure!

There was more romance in this one and the character growth was perfection: especially for Jack, Adaira, and Torin. I fell in love with knowing the characters more in-depth in this one and I did not want to see their stories end in this duology. I also loved reading each character’s POV.

We get a lot more of the magical elements from the spirit world in this one that I loved and Kae was one of my favorite additions. I also really enjoyed learning more about the West and the history and culture. Loose ends were tied up and the ending for this duology was perfect.

Jack and Adaira, Torin and Sidra, Mirin and Frae… I love these characters so much!

The epic conclusion to the Elements of Cadence duology is finally here. Picking up where the first book left off, Adaira is struggling to adjust to the brutal and bitter way of life among the Breccans, she has been traded to live with her biological mother and father while her brother has been placed as prisoner in her stead, she must ajdust to life with the Breccans of the west in order to give peace to her home in the east. She has been separated from her husband, a bard named Jack, and yearns for him. Meanwhile Jack is adrift without Adair until he sings to the weak fire spirit... who gives him a dangerous mission that will lead him westward and into the dangerous home that Adaira lives in now. Meanwhile Adaira’s cousin Torin is now the laird of the Tamerlaine clan and he must find a way to stop the blight that is plaguing his people but soon finds himself tasked with solving a mysterious riddle trapped in the spirit world if he wants to get back to his healer wife Sidra and their family.... Sidra herself is hiding a secret... she is with child and has bene infected by the blight and must find a way to solve it before it’s too late. On top of all of this the spirit of the North Wind threatens to destroy the entire Isle of Cadence and Jack and Adaira must not only find a way to save their home but discover just how much they are willing to sacrifice for those they love... even if the price might be their own love after being reunited. This was a beautiful and wonderful conclusion to the duology and the romance really amped itself up in this book. I loved how strong Adaira was in this one and the journey of both couples was really well done. Each of the characters was given a well fleshed out storyline and they all wrapped up nicely. Adaira is tasked with not only creating a place for herself in a home she never knew, with people who say they are her family but she doesn’t see them as such, and deal with the politics of a whole new environment. She must navigate the loneliness and the dangers while staying strong and fighting for those she loves and her own values. Jack is lost, trying to find a way to be with the one person he loves while also trying to find what he wants his future to be. He has to journey through difficult paths and decide what he is willing to sacrifice for what he wants and where he sees himself being happiest. Torin finally has a home and family, he has everything he could have ever wanted... except now must deal with the burdens of ruling and caring for so many people, including his new family. Sidra is a healer who must deal with a heavy secret and find a way to save not only herself but those she loves. All of these characters have gone through a difficult journey and in the end all found a happy and beautiful ending. I would definitely recommend this series as it’s magical, romantic, and has a touch of folklore.

*Thanks Netgalley and Avon and Harper Voyager, Harper Voyager for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*

4.5 stars rounded down to 4

Thank you to @netgalley and @harpervoyagerus for access to this ARC. This book publishes on December 6th!

What an absolutely lovely sequel and wrap-up to the Elements of Cadence duology. I’m pleased to report that I enjoyed this one even more than A River Enchanted.

It had a lot more excitement from each character’s storyline. And the characters were fleshed out in this book, which made me love them even more than I did previously. Especially Jack and Adaira, who are the main characters, but I felt got outshined by Torrin and Sidra in book one. While I still loved Torrin and Sidra in this, Jack and Adaira’s story really leveled up. And their romance felt much stronger and believable.

Although this type of story isn’t really a “quick” read, I was captivated by the plot and each character’s POV. Especially the twist about the spirit realm king, Bane, which was one of my favorite parts.

If you loved A River Enchanted, get your hands on this sequel immediately. You won’t be disappointed!

So much happened in this book! I am amazed that the author fit everything in so neatly without feeling contrived. I found myself gravitating more towards Torbin and Sidra's story than Jack and Audra's this time. The full cast of characters are lively, even though a few side characters do seem one-dimensional. An excellent conclusion to one of my favorite books from 2021!
