Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Voyager for an ARC in exchange for an honest review! A River Enchanted was such a surprisingly delightful read for me this year that immediately after I finished it I was chomping at the bit for the sequel, so I feel extra delighted that I got a review copy.

A Fire Endless picks up right where A River Enchanted left off, with Adaira in the West. It was really great to see the other half of Cadence and get to see how the Breccans live and their relationship to the island, and I thought that it did show how and why the Breccans are so prone to violence. I enjoyed the evolution of Adaira's relationship with her birth parents and seeing how she has to maneuver herself in an environment that's pretty hostile to everything she's known up until this point. In the East, Torin, Sidra, and Jack (and Frae) are trying to fulfill their new roles, especially since there's a new danger to Jack's music, as Bane, the spirit of the North Wind views him as a threat. I liked getting to spend more time with Sidra as a healer and Torin's, ah, side quest, and I think Ross did a really good job conveying the varying emotions going on in all her characters. I found that I savored each win the characters got over the course of the novel, the atmosphere Ross created was excellent. This was just honestly such a fun read and a really good conclusion to this duology.

Also that last line was perfect, oh my god!!!!

This book is so warm and comforting, even at its most heart-wrenching moments. The POV changes so often that the story races ahead, but every plot tangent feels completely fleshed out and interconnected. Overall, A Fire Endless is a perfect conclusion to a fantastic duology.

A River Enchanted was a 2022 favorite of mine back in March and A Fire Endless was everything I could have hoped for in a conclusion. Rebecca Ross's writing captivates me with how she writes characters, relationship dynamics to nature, and magic.

Where A River Enchanted felt like a Mystery (capital M) with some spirits and magic, this one felt like Spirits and Magic with some mystery which I enjoyed. It was faithful to the "brand" but helped set this book apart. We even begin the book with a prologue set within the Spirits court and see The Northern Wind interacting with the spirits and that set such an interesting tone as we got to peak behind the curtains, so to speak, and setting up this major conflict between the Northern Wind and Jack/Cadence/etc. We got to learn a lot more about the Breccans, their lifestyle, and their lore through Adaira now living in the castle as their Laird's daughter. It hurt my heart to see her separated from everyone and how ARE left off but I appreciated this time to grow her character more and allow us to gain crucial information about Cadence from her point of view.

We have Torin who is now Laird of the Tamerlines having to deal with a blight that is infecting the trees, and when exposed, the people. His and Sidra's growth and setbacks and partnership are one of the truly best parts of this series and I adored how this book handled them, as well.

This just felt like such a well-rounded book with the pacing, the suspense, and the breadcrumbs of clues for both the reader and characters on not only solving the mystery of the blight but Jack's mystery about the Northern Wind and his "quest" as Bard and Adaira's husband.

I was constantly stressed and waiting to both binge and savor this book and I am honestly so happy.

THIS BOOK. I cannot express any emotions. I held my hands to my chest and sobbed at one part. Rebecca Ross is such a talented writer and I can't wait for this book to be out in the wild. I thought that this was a stunning conclusion to this series. Honestly, it made me so emotional, and I had trouble writing this review because I really don't want to spoil this book.

Ross has some of the best writing that I've ever read; it is lyrical and beautiful. The descriptions are lush and beautiful. I love how she created two different atmospheres for the clans, and two different feelings depending on where you were in the mortal world or in the spirit world. And that's all I'm going to say on that -- because so much of this is best read blind. As someone who struggles to picture scenes in books, I love when authors are able to evoke feelings and emotions and make me imagine something.

I loved all the characters in this book so much, Adaira, Jack, Sidra and Torin all have their own journey in this book, and then they come together. That's something to note -- they all are separate and have individual arcs in which we've seen them grow as people.

I've been left speechless by this book, it just evoked so much emotion in me, and I loved following all the characters, I especially enjoyed Adaira's story as she comes to terms with who she is. Torin and Sidra's romance is just as poignant as Adaira and Jack's, and the juxtaposition of them was done so lovely. I like how we get to see so many different facets of people. Sidra's story is also one of my favorites, I'm just a sucker for strong women. Seriously, and while Sidra and Adaira are strong, they also have a tenderness to them. I love it.

One aspect of the book that I thought was well done was the plot, and how the present was interwoven with the past. Ross is fantastic at creating a timeline of interest, and not making it confusing. I think that the plot in this book was nicely developed and really rounded out the first book -- we learn a lot more from Adaira and her mother in this book. Again, Ross is excellent at creating a fantastic world and showing how two or three places are so different from each other.

Everything ties up so nicely in the end, and I just loved this book. I really don't know what else to say other than I'M IN LOVE.

This was such a good follow up to A River Enchanted!

I love Rebecca Ross's writing style. The characters and setting are so charming and she just really pulls you in to the story.

After the first book of the duology, I had so many unanswered questions. A Fire Endless answered them all and then some. Everything wrapped up really well, but still left us with just enough room to use our own imaginations about what might happen next.

I really enjoyed getting to know more about the western side of the island as well as the spirits.

My only complaint is that Frae's POV chapters almost seemed unnecessary. They just didn't add much to the story as a whole.

Rebecca Ross doesn’t just write this story she transports you to a whole new magical world.

I was so excited to see what happened between Jack and Adaira! I couldn’t put this book down once I started.

A Fire Endless was a beautifully written sequel that slightly missed the mark for me compared to its predecessor.

A Fire Endless felt like a very different book from A River Enchanted. While it still took place on the same island and with the same cast of characters, a lot of things didn’t work as well for me this time around. But before I get to those, here are the things I DID enjoy!

Things I liked:
- learning about the west and its culture
- Adaira’s growth and overcoming of her fears
- Torin’s renewed appreciation for Sidra and the softer aspects of the isle
- the development of the relationship between the east and west
- Kae!

Things I didn’t like
- the different plot elements felt disconnected from one another. The blight that is the impetus for the book feels insignificant in comparison to Jack’s actual journey
- the climax of the book didn’t satisfy me emotionally. This big moment that ended the series ended up having almost no emotional impact for me, and I knew that it couldn’t be the end because of that

Obviously, I still enjoyed the book quite a bit! The characters and the writing were wonderful, and most of the time I thoroughly enjoyed the story as well. But those two things were enough to drop this down a full star for me. That said, I will definitely be reading more from Rebecca Ross. 4 stars.

Rebecca Ross knows how to write a perfect duology. A Fire Endless completes the story begun in A River Enchanted in such a satisfying way. I won't go into much detail, because it will spoil the first book, but I really loved seeing the Isle of Cadence from the western perspective, as opposed to the eastern one in the first book. They truly complement each other and everything is tied up in a conclusion I didn't see coming. I highly recommend you read these back to back- it will be a much richer experience. I look forward to reading more from Rebecca Ross.

I’ll be honest, the first book I was on the edge. I wasn’t sure if I liked it enough to read the second or not.
I’m glad I did though. The second book did deliver more for me than the first. I will say though, I feel like you either just loved the series or it was just okay.
I do feel like this was more YA than what I normally read but it’s a fun read and the author does a great job of describing her characters. I think they could be developed more.
Overall, I loved the storyline about the blight and bard. I’d recommend this book to others who enjoy fantasy.

What a perfect ending to a duology! Although, I would gladly take more. There is something about Rebecca Ross's writing style, so atmospheric and cozy. The magical Scottish vibes of Cadence is everything. I enjoyed the spirits playing a bigger role and gaining more appreciation from the clans. The plot of the story was well executed and keeps you wanting more. Lovely characters that are well written, you will undoubtedly fall in love with all of them. Emotions were running high, especially in the end. A few tears may have been shed. A must read duology!

This whole setting is everything. I love this beautiful atmospheric story and setting. These characters are so wholesome! I wish we got a little bit more emotion from some of them, but overall, this was a great second book to this universe!

In my opinion, the second book rarely is better than the first but this is not the case with A Fire Endless. From the first sentence, I was immediately transported back to the Isle of Cadence and never wanted to leave. Ross writes in a way that puts you directly into a character and you never want to leave. This books was excellent.

Elements of Cadence is a very enchanting, Scottish highland-inspired fantasy series featuring a beta-hero Bard and a semi-alpha heroine pairing. I found this dynamic refreshing. And the magic system, albeit poorly fleshed out, was unique and heavily inspired by local legends.

The main issue I have with Rebecca Ross's writing is that she knows how to make characters interesting and likable, but she doesn't complexity them enough for me to be truly invested. As an extension, I felt like the main romantic pairings throughout both books lacked any real chemistry beyond respect, admiration, and friendship. Ross's need to shift around to multiple (5-6) POVs, including a child, did not do her any favors.

A Fire Endless was a decent wrap up to this series. The distance between the characters for the majority of the book created some great plot tension, and seeing into the world of the Breccans mostly maintained my attention. I just have to say it: Toran's POVs toward the end of the book had me bored to tears. And at one point on Jack's side of things, I thought I would be rating this 2 stars or less due to some out-of-character decisions and moments, but Ross...borderline insufficiently, rectified that.

My overall complaint is that I find Ross does not know her own characters very well. But this series does breath some fresh air into a fantasy genre in need of some variety.

Forced to live on separate sides of the clan line, Adaira and Jack struggle to thrive without the other. Adaira finds the Breccans to be fierce and bloodthirsty while Jack feels lost without Adaira by his side. Meanwhile, Torin and Sidra face their own battles with each other and with the blight that has cursed the isle. The world of spirits also faces upheaval as Bane demands more spirits to enact his revenge on the mortals of Cadence. When East and West band together to try to develop a cure for the blight, anything is possible.
A Fire Endless, the final book in An Elements of Cadence duology by Rebecca Ross, is a fantasy novel that dares to be kind, caring, and warm rather than cruel and exacting. In the world of Cadence benedictions and care for the environment solve problems that bloodshed and fighting create. Readers won't find endless battles or violence, and that is what makes A Fire Endless stand out.

Not so much:
- the writing at times still feels ya for an adult series (better than book 1 though)
- Jack and Ari still make zero sense together
- the very end but won’t reveal due to spoiler

The conclusion to this story is absolutely stunning. A Fire Endless is everything I had hoped it would be and more.! The follow up to A River Enchanted, Ross delivers a beautiful second volume to her Elements of Cadence duology. The world she has built trapped me within the pages.

This was such a warm hug in a book. Delightfully poetic and hauntingly beautiful. Adaira, Jack, Sidra, and Torin Are all such wonderfully written characters with compelling stories. Their journey is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. I can not speak more highly about the pure beauty that is this duology.

I’m writing this through happy tears. A Fire Endless is perfect in every way and is everything you would want in a fantasy- “Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, TRUE LOVE, miracles!” Sorry I just had to use my favorite Princess Bride quote to describe this masterpiece of a book.

Rebecca Ross has such a way of weaving this cozy, lush world that you’ll never want to leave, and an endearing cast of characters you’ll completely fall in love with. As sad as I am to be closing the book on this series and the magical world of Cadence, I know I can’t wait to return to it time and time again.

When I finished A River Enchanted, I couldn't wait to get my hands on the follow-up novel. I was thrilled to have the chance to read an ARC, and A Fire Endless was another perfect atmospheric read. Set in a fictional/magical version of a Scottish (I assume) island, I got serious Outlander vibes from the beginning. The first book sets up the conflict between competing clans, the Tamerlaines and the Breccans, who are separated by an enchanted boundary separating the island. A Fire Endless continues to explore the values of heritage, community, and the power of love to heal the rift on the island, as well as the painful separation of the main couples throughout the book. Jack, Adaira, Torin, and Sidra all must work through how to save their people from a deadly blight on the land caused by an enraged spirit, but doing so requires significant sacrifices from all of them.

I absolutely love how this series is written, with beautiful, flowery language that reads like a fairytale. The beginning was slower than I would have liked, and I hated how the couples that were set up in the first book were separated or distant for much of this one. I got VERY worried that the book was going to have an unsatisfying ending, but I was ultimately happy with how things wrapped up.

I adore Ross’s writing style. It is like being transported into a lush, whimsical, fairytale story. This book picks up right where the first book ended and it was a fitting conclusion. I loved the magical and mythological elements and they were definitely my favorite parts of both books. However I wasn’t super attached to the characters and the love story just always seemed to fall a little bit short.
