Driven by Compassion was a great book, with real world examples. Easy to digest, but top-tier content. I really appreciated the 8 values for exemplary leadership. You should read this whether you're a manager or not!

Super helpful book on leading and leading with compassion. I believe this book is really going to propel me into being the best 'servant leader' I can possibly be. I will use the points in this story for the rest of my career and in my home life as well.

I found two forwards in the beginning of the book to be confusing. The first forward is written by someone in healthcare. The second forward is written by someone reflecting on her father. And so by chapter one, I was confused about the author and his writing style.

So I went back and read the beginning again, to see who was writing the book. It seems the author was a former CEO at two hospitals. He has an impressive career history and organizational experience. His message is consistent and encouraging, The writing style is difficult to follow.

In my opinion, the editing needs refinement. The book jumps from idea to idea, and I was unsure where the author was going with each paragraph. Other times, I read sentences more than once because they did not make sense. For example, the author writes “Sometimes, of course, our colleagues can make practicing patience in a tough moment a demanding task.”

Here is another example for editing: “Impatience with yourself and with your inability to bend circumstances to your will—no matter how strong it is—absolutely can affect your leadership if you are unable to manage it.”

Generally the message of the book is good, while the editing is less impressive.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy from Netgalley.

This was an interesting book women concepts that could’ve been helpful but was not expanded on enough also I found it off putting this book is not on goodreads so I couldn’t look at any other content with the book any past publishing‘s or any reviews. Is it interesting and I like the way it was written but I think it may be needed a few more read Throughs about the content in it.

It is a daunting task to write a book about leadership in today’s society. I give the author credit for his endeavor. This book has great ideas although they are never developed for full effect in the chapters. The book is more narrative and focused on the writer (auto biographical) rather than challenging the reader. This Makes a nice story but little application as you would expect from the title. A cohesive flow of the book in each chapter is lacking as well. For example when you reach the end of each chapter there is a takeaway section at the end of some chapters, a different name in others, or nothing at all. If you are in healthcare and familiar with names and places in the book you will be able to identify with the author.
