Fun and quirky read! This is a cute little middle grade read about vampires, their weaknesses and other fun vampire facts! This book was actually a decent bit more informative than I had been expecting, it includes a whole section on vampire-like creatures from various cultures around the world which was honestly a really nice touch, along with a section on various vampires in literature which was nice to see. The art and the information was wonderful and the inclusion of a bibliography was nice.

Heavily informative and fun guide to vampire history and lore! Besides the amazing artwork and showcasing the different kinds of vampires, it also gives a necessary look onto diversity and representation. You best believe I'll be trying out that garlic bread recipe as soon as possible!

"An illustrated nonfiction guide to vampires in history, legend, and pop culture"
An adorable informative nonfiction guide to dealing with vampires. Everything from spotting vampires to fighting vampires, this book is an all out guide on everything you need to know.
The illustrations are adorable, the text is hilarious, this is exactly the kind of book I would have loved as a kid.

This book is a fun and very readable introduction to vampire history and lore for young readers. There are lots of fun and stylized illustrations that really round out the book and make it a joy to read. Kids who already know about vampires will know a lot of the facts shared in this book, but this is a great starting point for new readers or the truly obsessed.

Upper elementary and middle school readers who love to learn about vampires may find this book intriguing! It was more text-based than I thought it would be, based on the "field guide" aspect, more like a narrative with chapters than a typical "field guide" with pictures, sidebars, etc... The information about vampires was pretty common, so students who are reading at this level may have already heard many of these myths before. The book does do a really nice job of sharing information while also being clear that vampires are legend (whereas some other nonfiction texts on vampires could confuse young readers). It also mixes in humor throughout that really propels the reader forward.

Thank you to Netgalley for this copy.

This juvenile book is a cute how to guide about vampires, the mythology and their place in history and literature. The artwork and design is great. This is a actually a very good guide for young people about the history of vampires, their place in popular culture and the science behind the myth of vampires. Definitely a 5 star book.

This book is a must have for vamipre fans of all ages! The art is gorgeous (like, I would hang this on my wall gorgeous) the writing is fun, whitty and easy to read. I love all the different lists, pictures, fun facts, recipes, "interviews" etc.

Little 12 year old me with a raging adhd hyperfixation on vampires would have been OBSESSED with this book. Even as an adult I absolutely loved it.

Seriously, if you or someone you know is a fan of vampires, you need to get this book.

I also loved that it was incusive, talking about vampire legends from all over the world, critiquing twilight, and also discussing lgbtq+ history with vampires in media.

Thank you to the publishers and Netgalley for providing me with an electronic ARC in exchange for an honest review.

My 2nd self who believed I was an actual vampire, as did I now, adore this book. A delightfully quirky tale that dives into not just how to defend and kill a vampire, but also different types of vampires across the world and mythologies. The author broke down important historical characters that are often brought up, although I was sad to see that Elizabeth Bathory was missing from the roll call. I especially enjoyed them breaking out popular books, stories, movies and television. The evolution of monsters within horror is something I enjoy diving into. So, I was incredibly delighted. Also, the book that activities for your middle graded child or students to participate in along the way, including: how to make garlic bread, at home composting, a do it your own story (sort of like Madlibs), and more. A tremendously fun read!

This was a cute book! I love the lighthearted take on vampire lore, for the kids who are scary adjacent. They’re intrigued by the supernatural, but maybe aren’t ready for straight up horror. It’s informative, funny, and I loved the illustrations and graphics. Perfect for an upper elementary/middle school classroom!

A really fun way to find out more about one of the most popular Halloween characters - Vampires! Great visuals and easy to read information, it's a great way for kids to get involved and learn about the history of the Vampire. I love that it makes relevant connections to today's media, all done with some brilliant humour too.

I would love to see more in this series for other mythical characters and their history, especially werewolves and mermaids!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy to review!
