When Adele’s previous boyfriends start to die, she starts to question. She cannot imagine they are all dying and no one is causing it. But the police do not believe her…until they do! Then life changes and she must protect her fiancé!

I liked Adele’s tenacity. She knows something is going on but she just can’t nail down who or why. The author did a twist on me and added a new character at the end. I was all over the place guessing who did what to whom. I should have known I didn’t have all the information!

This is a wonderful chase! I enjoy a book which has me wondering and guessing and this one did just that!

The narrators, Lorna Bennett and Chris Devon made a fabulous tag team. I really like a book when there are two narrators. It just makes the voices more real!

Need a good who done it!!! THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today!

I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.

I didn’t love this one… I hated Tom. The whole thing just didn’t come together for me. I hated that no one believed her at first.. it was very obvious. Ugh sorry

Thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to read an ARC of this Audiobook.

I was immediately drawn into this book as an avid Mystery/Thriller reader. I am torn as to how to rate it though.

The Boyfriend tells a story of Adele as she is focused on planning a wedding to her fiancé Tom. To Adele, Tom is THE ONE, the perfect mate for her... in reality they are ill suited and it was frustrating to think of them marrying but I digress. As the story begins, Adele finds out that her first love has passed away and there in begins the mystery. The concept of the story was very unique and engaging, who is killing Adele's previous lovers and will they stop before she loses it all and loses Tom? Only THE BOYFRIEND knows...

Pros: The book kept me guessing until the end, the beginning completely absorbed me. The book was packed full of twists and turns and had me very nervous during specific moments

Cons - I hated Adele, I hated Tom, I hated Adele's best friend Nicola... I pretty much hated everyone in the book and that is ok sometimes that happens but in this case that caused me to secretly want THE BOYFRIEND to kill them all and not be caught. That does not make for a good Mystery/Thriller Plot. I dearly hated the relationship between Adele and her Fiancé, he was controlling and she was incapable of respecting herself or her relationship. I thought Adele was self centered, shallow and immature in general (Oh and an alcoholic) she relied too much on elementary school friendships or fights. The character was 36 and still worried about what people thought of her, people she hadn't seen in YEARS. It's time to grow up.

Other than the distracting behavior of the main character, I was engaged and wanted to find out who the killer was in the end. The audiobook was well done and creepy at points. I definitely will pick up other books by Daniel Hurst in the future but Adele needs a time out... Still a 3 Star from me!

“Another one bites the dust
Hey I’m gonna’ get you too
Another one bites the dust” songwriter John Deacon. Performed by Queen

Adele is finally ready to settle down and get married. She’s leaving all her boyfriends and affairs in the past once and for all. Now suddenly, one by one they’re all dying under very strange circumstances. Is her fiancé next in line? Why won’t the police listen to her!?

I thought this premise was unique, captivating my attention immediately. Had me second-guessing all potential perpetrators the entire way through. And one by one, the police slowly cleared my suspects!🤣 Must be losing my detectives eye!🕵️‍♀️

A super speedy thriller! I finished the audio in one afternoon. If you’re looking for a quick, thrilling audio to listen on your daily commute or flight to the beach this would be a perfect fit.

3.5⭐

A great story of how your past can come back to haunt you in ways you often wouldn't think about.

While out with a friend one night Adele gets news that her high school boyfriend was found dead from an apparent suicide. Adele struggles with dealing with this news and how to tell her now fiancé Tom about her past with her true past with her former classmate/first love.

However things start to take a turn when another of her exboyfiends turns up dead and Adele starts to question if this is random or if someone is killing all her ex boyfriends to get to her, and what will this mean for her current fiancé Tom.

This was a great book with a twist that I never saw coming and a killer I never would have suspected. I really enjoyed the audio version as well.

What if your exes were being killed off one by one? I loved this book so much that I didn't even want to pause for short time periods. It was an interesting mystery to find out who was killing her exes, but more than that it was a quick pace that had me almost instantly invested in the story.

5 stars.

This was a fast paced cat and mouse thriller. I loved the plot and it kept me engaged throughout. Adele is engaged to Tom and is planning their wedding. One day she gets the news that her first love has been found dead. Not long after, another ex-boyfriend of hers is killed. Continue on with anther ex dying, and Adele starts to wonder if this is more than just a coincidence. Her suspicion is seemingly confirmed when the strange messages begin.. I loved that the ending was not predictable even though I thought I had it figured out a couple of times. A couple of the characters were unlikeable, but it didn't put me off. I will say I wasn't a huge fan of the narrator. This was my first read by this author and I look forward to more.

I received the audiobook through Netgalley. The story was a bit too repetitive at times. The characters were a bit boring for my taste. It was hard for me to like Adele and at times I wondered if she really loved her future husband, Tom.

Overall this audiobook was real good! It had a real good twist to the story, it kept me trying to solve the mystery which I love! I appreciate how there were a couple of times I thought I had figured it out, and then the next chapter, sentence or paragraph proved me wrong! I appreciate that in a book, because it keeps me captivated and motivated to continue reading as opposed to reading a book that so predictable.
My biggest struggle, not only with this book but with any book is getting through the first couple of chapters. Sometimes the character and place development can run a little dry and boring, and sometimes feel a little unnecessary. I felt this way towards the begging, but it didn't drag on for too long which was nice!
This is a good read!

The Boyfriend kept me intrigued through the whole audio book. Adele’s old boyfriends start dying and she starts getting these strange texts. Everyone thinks it’s all been an accident or suicide, but she thinks someone is targeting her. She is afraid her fiancé will be next. I tried to figure out who was doing the killings, but at the end I was surprised. The audio was really great and easy to listen to.

Thank you Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the advanced audiobook of “The Boyfriend” by Daniel Hurst for my honest review.

This was an interesting story, and I enjoyed listening to it. My only critique is that I like more tension throughout the book in a thriller, this read as more of a suspense novel to me.

What would you do if your ex-boyfriends started turning up dead? Adele is engaged to be married and her ex-boyfriends are all turning up dead. One was sad but when the next turned up when she at her college reunion that was freaky. Then another. That was just alarming. Her fiance is just mad she had so many boyfriends. When she goes to the police they think she is an alarmist. When the next turns up dead they start to take her serious. Crazy? Who is her stalker? Could be anyone from her past, right? This one was thought provoking and chilling.

I struggled with parts of this book but overall enjoyed it.

Adele starts to realize her ex boyfriends are dying one by one, soon she fears her fiancée will be next.

It turned out to be someone I was absolutely not expecting and kind of disappointed by that... I was hoping for a big twist. I just knew it was would be one of the two side characters who was saw throughout the book. Nope but I liked how it all tied together. We weren't left with a lot of questions and WTH the way some thrillers/mysteries end.

I really enjoy the audio. I felt both of them did a great job.

Adele has finally found her true match in Tom. They are planning their wedding. But her 1st serious boyfriend ends up dead. She hasn't seen him in years she doesn't think much of it. When her next ex ends up dead, Then the next. Why her Ex boyfriends why in the pattern she dated them? What is going on She goes to the police and they will look into it but is it to late and is Tom next? Is this a case of accidental death or are they being targeted and murderer? is Tom next? Its a race to find out who it is before they are all gone.

This was a fast pace read and I listed to the audio and the narration did a wonderful job. Most of the story is told from Adeles POV but with some chapters of the boyfriend. Your trying to figure out who is the boyfriend? what's going on.

This thriller had so many twists and turns I was unsure where it was going. And that is just the way I liked it.

The Boyfriend by Daniel Hurst follows Adele. Adele is engaged to her Soulmate, Tom, when all of her ex-boyfriends begin dying in mysterious accidents. Adele gets a text that makes her believe that these deaths are no accident. As more exes begin to die, Adele is desperate to figure out who is killing them and hopefully save Tom.

The narrators for this audiobook were incredible. They did an incredible job holding my interest and I listened to the whole audiobook all at once. From the prologue and Hurst intriguing foreshadowing and the subtle hints given. I was trying to play detective in my head. I can safely say, I was unable to guess the twist but I loved every minute of trying to figure it out. I also love that the twist was believable. It is an important criteria in thrillers for me.

I highly recommend consuming this book through the audiobook

Incredibly addictive, fast paced thriller. I really loved this one! One by one, every ex boyfriend of Adele, the main character, is murdered. At first, it appears to be an accident, but quickly Adele realizes there can only be so many coincidences. As she races the clock to figure out who is doing this, before her current boyfriend is the latest victim, she suspects everyone she ever knew. This one was hard to figure out and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end.

Thank you, Netgalley, for a gifted copy of this audio book. Here is my unbiased review.
This was fun! completely unbelievable and shallow, but it kept my attention and was quick and entertaining. You're following Adele as she realizes that people keep dying around her-specifically all of her previous boyfriends since high school. Her current relationship with her now-fiancé is rather shallow, and I couldn't really and truly ship them, but that didn't matter for this light and thrilly read. Super short and easy to read on a flight or travel day. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4904741822

I finished this one a week ago, it’s out now. I really liked this book, I’ve never read anything with this plot before, or by this author. I will be picking up more books in the future. It was a fast paced listen for me, and kept me engaged in the story. I kept trying to figure out who was behind it all, but I just could not figure it out.

The Boyfriend, or boyfriends, is about a woman whose exes all start dying. Her fiancé cannot deal with the fact that she knows that they died because he can't handle that he had boyfriends before her. Apparently, having had 5 boyfriends by the time you hit your late 20s is excessive. Who knew? The fiancé is ridiculous, as is the main character. The ending is fairly predictable and just left me relieved that I was done.
