With book two in her super fun Buffy-verse series, Kendare Blake once again uses her unique skills at writing comedic action to blend banter with blades as Sunnydale’s favourite team of slayers, witches, werewolves, and their friends reunite to battle a new wave of “greatest hit” monsters and search for the slayers who went missing in book one. Quips fly as fast as fists while alliances shift, new romances bloom, and tensions mount. Though the books are clearly written for fans of the TV series, with lots of references that will delight those familiar with them, Blake fills us in on the essentials so the story works without prior knowledge of the world and characters. Did it inspire me to watch more of the series? Maybe. To pick up book three when it hits shelves? Absolutely.

Fans of Buffy rejoice!! One Girl In All The World is set in the world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Continuing the story from Every Generation, we follow Frankie, the first ever born slayer, and continue the story of the missing slayers which goes much deeper in this sequel. If you're nostalgic for Buffy, be sure to start reading Kendare Blake's books set in the Buffy universe. If you haven't indulged in Buffy before, this book series is a fun place to start. Highly recommended!!

ONE GIRL IN ALL THE WORLD continues the story of Frankie Rosenberg, the first-ever Slayer by birth, her multigenerational Scooby gang, and the quest to find out where all the other slayers have gone. The baddies in this one will all feel familiar, as the dormant Hellmouth starts replaying its greatest hits.

As the gang gets closer to bringing back the missing Slayers, the obstacles won't stop. And school, love, and life don't stop just because you're fighting demons.

We have angst. We have smoochy parents. We have ineffective groundings. We have sneaking out to tongue tango with demons. There's blood. There's ooze. There's backstabbing AND front stabbing. The second installment brings everything you'd ever want from EVERY GENERATION, and some things you didn't know you wanted. Can't wait until #3.

I received an ARC of this title from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and were not affected by the free copy.

Last year, I read In Every Generation and had never seen or read a single thing in the Buffy universe. I can say that this time, I go into One Girl in All the World having seen 4.5 seasons of Buffy, which for me is pretty good - I struggle with staying engaged with new stuff for more than a week or two. And let me tell you, that made the little references that much more enjoyable! The first monster murder occurred, and I knew IMMEDIATELY which ones had caused it. And it has reengaged me into continuing the series, and I'm about to start Angel as well.

I don't know if this happened naturally or if Kendare listened to her readers, but she fixed the biggest issue I had with the first book. The sexist jokes and menstruation humor are gone, thank goodness! I feel like the end, while a bigger cliff-hanger than the first, handled the wrap up better; it didn't feel quite as sudden. The plot kept me entertained, though it got a little slow sometimes.

The thing that bugged me the most was how we kind of just gloss over Willow's reintroduction toe magic world. Like, she keeps doing things so out of character for her, and people will express their worries, but then immediately forget them.

All in all, I cannot wait for book 3 to come out. This book should definitely be read after book one, and is perfect for Buffy enthusiasts, fans of the supernatural, and heroes who get powers that aren't immediately good at everything.

I always have a good time with Kendare Blake. Add Slayers and the Scoobies, and it's a party! I enjoyed this second installment of the series. We saw Frankie and friends fight many vamps and demons. We saw some canoodling with a Sexy Demon as well as drama in the teen romance department. All in all, kind of normal days in Sunnydale! Readers should pick up the first book in the series before jumping into this volume, but I highly recommend this series to readers who like their contemporary drama mixed with some supernatural slaying!

Kendare Blake is *slaying* her reboot of the Buffyverse. A recommended purchase for most collections, and while it's YA, shelving it with adult fantasy will definitely get it circulating among the OG fans.

A fun, zippy return to Blake's extended Buffy-verse, this was a delight that I couldn't put down! The plot was tight enough to hold up all the quips necessary for any Buffy tale, and I loved the new Scooby Gang and will read every book in this series they'll put out. The romance of the main character remains a little unconvincing and unnecessary, but the side characters both have interesting romantic situations to make up for the somewhat boring Angel stand-in.

I jumped into this book without reading the first one, but it didn't take too long to figure out what was happening. Fun, fast read especially for those who are fans of the Buffy the Vampire TV series.

As OG fan of The Slayer and her scooby gang I was a little weary of this book not being up to snuff.

Frankie and her own scooby gang are wonderfully familiar, but unique as they should be. I did not read the first book "yet", but I was able to catch on fairly quickly. When readingI felt like a teen again, watching TV on a Tuesday night, waiting to see who the next big bad is.

I have nothing negative to write. Between the well thought out fight scenes, the Scooby speak we all love and watcher Spike this series deserves a standing ovation

Kendare Blake takes a character and story world that I have enjoyed since the early 90s and brings it to life for today’s young (and older) readers. Enjoyable horror/science fiction and youth literature, featuring popular characters.

This is a fun sequel. I didn't love either book in this series and I'm not sure I'll get around to the third but I love that there are more Buffy books in the world and it's still a fun read.

This sequel to In Every Generation is action packed.
I think the people who will like this book best are people nostalgic for Buffy. But even if you never watched Buffy The Vampire Slayer, this book has something for you. It was fun with some twists, but nothing too deep.
Looks like it's set up for a 3rd.

Thanks to Netgalley and Disney Publishing for an early copy for review.

One Girl in all the World is the sequel to Kendare Blake's In Every Generation. All of the scoobies from the last book are back and ready to support Frankie, the most recent slayer. Frankie is, after events of the previous book, only one of two slayers seemingly left in all the world. The previous book's mystery of where all the slayers have gone is picked back up again, and readers are given question after question. Grimlock is also back, following the problematic tradition of dangerous and way-too-old love interest for the main teenage character that both Buffy the Vampire slayer and countless other YA materials seem to follow.

The biggest draw of this book, of course, is its nostalgia for Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan. The text is rife with references that only fans of the show will get and appreciate. That is, in some ways, the biggest strength and weakness of this book. If you watched the original, these references will leave you smirking, but if you haven't, it could get tedious and perhaps a little annoying. Black does nail the quirky and tongue-in-cheek tone of the original show, which is certainly enjoyable. Other than that, however, this is very much par for the course in YA supernatural lit. 2.5/5

One Girl in All the World is another awesome addition to this Buffyverse reboot. Kendare Blake has managed to capture the essence and feel of Sunnydale, the Scoobies, and beloved characters from the show. In this installment they mystery of the missing Slayers is deepened and parts revealed, while posing a seldom considered scenario. This sequel is fun and funny, though my only real complaint is that the romance between Frankie and Grim feels forced and inauthentic while I get the sense it's meant to mirror the Buffy-Angel struggle, I'm just not into it. Fingers crossed the chemistry improves or a different love interest is introduced.

Thank you, Disney Publishing Worldwide, for allowing me to read One Girl In All The World early!

I loved this book. I love the Buffyverse and Kendare Blake really wrote a touchdown-at-the-last-minute kind of book.
