The Ex-Wives is a fast paced page turner.. The author, Jenna Kernan, cleverly weaves and twists tidbits of information into the story. Elana should’ve seen what was ahead of her but she didn’t until it was too late. Intrigued as to how things would play out, I read it in a day.
Thank You to Bookouture, NetGalley, and Jenna Kernan for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and Jenna Kernan for letting me read “The Ex Wives”.

“Their daughter’s went missing. Is yours next?”

I love myself a read cover. I can’t say really what this he is. A chip in some kind of pottery? A gaping black whole? Three wedding bars for the ex wives and the current one? Attention grabbing yes, understanding it? Nope?! 🤔oh well…

Elana is a widow with a young daughter, Phoebe. She thought she found love (or rather security ) again with wealthy Mayor of a small town, Jackson. But Jackson is not what he seems to be. Two times divorced at age 35. The mysterious thing is, the fighters of the ex wives disappeared after they divorced him. Elana does not believe in rumours, even after being warned by an ex wife. After the wedding Jackson changes. Narcissistic behaviour, controlling. But at first Elana does not dare to disappear because of fear for her daughters safety. Until an accident on sea changes everything…

I came to the conclusion that this book is average. It got better towards the end.

The book is divided into now and then, third person narrating. Slow domestic suspense, not very thrilling and slightly boring at times. Halfway through I got really bored with the story and Elana. The writing is ok, bland at times. I found the characters a bit flat to be honest. Though, good that Elana got her act together and stood up for herself. That was such an toxic relationship already without the missing girls.

I did not find the “big twist” at the end very impressive.

Two ex-wives. Two missing girls. Will yours be next?
Pulling a batch of my husband’s favourite golden oatmeal cookies from the oven, I smile to hear my daughter Phoebe playing in the treehouse outside. I was once so close to losing everything, but since I married handsome Jackson, I have a perfect life. Jackson might tell me what to wear, but he just likes to buy me nice things. He says I don’t need a job, and why would I want one? I can spend all day taking care of Phoebe and running errands in the fancy car Jackson gave me he knows everywhere I go, and I love how much he wants to keep me safe.
But my whole world shatters when I find out Jackson is a liar.
He never mentioned he was married before twice.
I love him so much. But how can I trust him now? Desperate for answers, I search our pristine house top to bottom. I thought Jackson was caring: but is it a way to control me?
When I track down his ex-wives, I see fear in their eyes. Both these women had little girls just like me. And when they left Jackson, their daughters went missing.
Devastated I’ve put Phoebe in danger, I have no choice but to find the truth about those poor girls. To protect Phoebe, I must pretend to still be the perfect wife, even though fear floods through me at Jackson’s touch.
But how far will I have to go? And what will happen to me and my sweet child if my husband finds out?
Really enjoyable read totally recommend
Thank You NetGalley and Bookouture

My Review:
Enjoyed!!!! This book had me hooked from the very first word. There were so many twists and turns in this one. It left me so shocked and speechless. I couldn’t believe what was happening. Oh and that heart attack of an ending is what really made this book for me. I couldn’t believe the courage that this mother had in the end and what she did to make justice happen. I would love to think that I would have done the same thing for my son in that same exact situation. Once I read the blurb I just knew that this book was for me. I have always loved reading a story about a woman looking for the truth about her husband that she thought was perfect. Now that brings me to the characters. They were all great and I felt that they all mixed so well together to create this perfect story. Each character had a specific purpose and was used very well by this author. I am a big fan of this author and I can’t wait to read her next book. Hopefully, it won’t be too long as I’m a very impatient person when it comes to my books.

In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 4 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️
