I loved this novel! Domestic drama is one of my favourite genres and this had drama from the first page.
Wiesner has created a great cast of characters and I instantly felt drawn to Quinn and was firmly on her side. Whenever I tried to think about how I would act in that situation and if it would be possible, even best if Emily was taken from everything she has ever known my brain would distract me from Nora’s pain and stop me from considering the predicament rationally. As the narrative is controlled by Quinn the author set me up to be ‘team Quinn’ and it wasn’t until she met Liam that I began to see that Emily was already part of a family and that it didn’t matter to her that she wasn’t biologically related to them.
But Nora was uptight and a control freak, Quinn was a children’s librarian and had clothes with animals on. See how easily my brain was distracted?!
Although Quinn is married to James his lack of passion for Emily meant that the book became the story of Quinn, Nora and Liam with the lawyers, James, Emily, Connor and Aunt Susan acting as satellites.
I tore through the book and shed more than a few tears. Definitely one to recommend!

Wow I really enjoyed this domestic thriller by Melissa Wiesner. Tense, twisty and super thought provoking! I loved the characters. They were well developed and kept me engaged. This one grabbed me from the beginning and made me stay up way past my bedtime!
Highly recommend

I absolutely LOVED this book. Just enough twists to keep you interested. I found myself being empathetic for both Nora and Quinn but was ultimately rooting for Quinn to make the right choice. Such a sweet ending too

"Our Stolen Child" is a heart wrenching, gripping read with a fantasticly warm ending. This book ticked all the boxes for me in the way that I connected with the story, the way it was written and the way it made me feel. It gripped my heart and made my cry but in the end it also warmed my heart and I had happy tears! An excellent read!

James and Quinn Marcello are desperate to start a family, but sadly it doesn’t happen for them, even their many IVF cycles have failed, so when their last stored embryo is due to be implanted, this will be their last chance of becoming biological parents. The preparations are made and the day arrives for it to happen. They are shown into the office of their consultant only to learn that the embryo cannot be found. Further investigations are made and the dire news is imparted that five years ago their embryo had been implanted into another childless lady without permission from them. She had delivered a baby girl called Emily. James and Quinn are emotional, devastated and angry that this mistake has deprived them from becoming parents and they make arrangements to visit a top notch Lawyer.
So the case is set to go to court and in the meanwhile James and Quinn are allowed to have weekly visits of three hours with Emily and her single parent mother Nora. Their lawyer is upbeat and Quinn breathes a sigh of relief. But Nora, Emily’s mother, is not happy at all, she is unwelcoming, emotional and protective. She does not want to hand over the daughter she delivered and has looked after, not even under her supervision. Both mothers are determined to fight it out in court, hoping that they will receive the news that Emily will be theirs.
I loved this story so much. It was beautifully told, the storyboard was filled with ups and downs, shocks and tension and at last resolution. The characters were well imagined, carefully developed and became familiar throughout the story. My favourite character was Quinn who missed almost five years of knowing and caring for her biological daughter. I also liked Nora’s brother and his son, just a year older than Emily. I didn’t like Nora because she was unfair, cancelling or changing dates for Quinn’s access. I did not like James either, even more as the story reached its climax. I loved the themes in the story and I was so happy at the end of the book – a satisfying and lovely ending.
I have never read any other stories written by Melissa Wiesner and am so pleased that I was given the opportunity to read ‘Our Stolen Child’. It is a gem of a book from a very talented author, full of compassion and meticulous research. I received a complimentary copy of this novel from publisher Bookouture through my membership of NetGalley. Thank you for my copy sent in return for an honest and unbiased review. I am very excited to introduce you to this author and this story and recommend this as an excellent read. 4.5*

This was an outstanding domestic drama about a couple undergoing IVF treatment for infertility who learns their last embryo was accidentally implanted by their fertility clinic in the wrong woman—and she is now raising their 4-year-old biological child.

I love books with a great juicy hook and OUR STOLEN CHILD grabbed me from the start. Quinn and James Marcello have struggled with infertility for years. I really connected with Quinn’s pain and her desperation to have a child. When she finds out that Nora had her biological child and that she is denying them visitation or any access, they decide to sue for custody. This book had juicy drama in SPADES. I liked the scenes with Liam, Nora’s brother, and Quinn. Nora and Quinn were frosty at first, but I liked that with time they grew to see each other’s pain. There were some good twists that came later in the book that I wasn’t expecting! This was heart wrenching, a great book for readers who love legal dramas, and I will definitely be checking out more books by this author!

What will happen next? Who will do what? This is an intriguing novel written by a talented and gifted author. I could not put it down. It is fiction that reads like nonfiction. It could happen. It probably has happened. It might happen. What should one do? What should one think? This is a character driven novel with happiness, sadness, love, friendship...separation...doing what is right...but what is right? Decisions...I really liked this book. I did not want to put it down until the ending. Don't start reading it at night because you won't want to stop. This book was sent to me by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher for the electronic copy. I hope there are other books by this author in the same vein. Mystery and intrigue...family and friends...enjoy...

All Quinn wants is to be a Mommy.
She and her husband James have done IVF without success so many times and are ready to use their last saved embryo.
Will this be THE one to grow and make them parents?
Maybe. Maybe not.

This is an intense, emotional journey of hope, fear, love and heartache that I read within two days.
It has an ending that I was not expecting and yet.... it is beautiful.
The story will have you questioning, how, why and when could things like this happen?

Plan a day to devour this novel. You will love it! I did!
Thank you to NetGalley and #Bookouture for this ARC and allowing me to provide my own review.

My Review:
Wow, wow, wow!!!!! This book was perfect in every way. What an emotional roller coaster ride this one was for me. Make sure you have a box of Kleenex by your side at all times otherwise you will be flooded by your own tears. This one touched me in so many ways. It pulled on heart strings that I didn’t even know I had. This story was also very personal for me. I had health issues after having my first child that prevented me from having another child so I could identify with these characters. I felt such a deep connection with each and every one them and what they were going through. Let’s talk about that lovely ending. It is what made me cry the most in the whole book. Not many endings make me feel truly complete with the book but this one did. It had all the feels of what a great ending should be. It came back full circle. This author was new to me and I can’t wait to read more of her tear jerking yet heartwarming books.

In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Becoming a parent is easy. Well, for a lot of people it is. For some though it’s a battle. A battle against your own body, with the medical world on your side. It’s a struggle that can last a very long time and even than there are no guarantees. You might still end up without that so much wanted bundle of joy and time is running out.

One day it will be your last chance to become a parent. You keep everything crossed that this might be the day, until the doctor announces some very, very devasting news.

Your world is turned upside down and you are determined to fight. To fight for what is rightfully yours and has been taken from you, stolen.

I seriously would not know what it would do to me if I were in Quinten and James’ shoes. I admire them for not wallowing in their pain, but take action immediately.

Would I want my chid back? Of course. Who would not? The question is though would it be in the child’s best interest? Would it be a good idea to uproot them? To take them away from the only parents they have ever known, they have always counted on?

That’s something to think deep and hard about, but I do understand how Quinn and James felt.

I guess what is best for a child is to have as many people who love and care about them in their life.

In my opinion Quinn sometimes is a bit harsh when she talks about people with children. There is nothing wrong with a mother or a father taking a bit of me-time. It does not mean they love their children any less. It’s just a right you have, whether you have kids yes or no.

On the other hand her feelings are easily hurt when someone tells her she could not know something, because she has never been in that particular situation.

I am glad she realised what she was doing and I applaud her for how she dealt with everything in the end.

A very beautiful story with Connor and Liam being my favourite characters. 4 stars.

Thank you

Love this book!!! So heartbreaking that this couple lost their last chance at a child. But also so heartbreaking that the other mother Emily knows may be taken away. I don't know how I would feel or act if I were either of these women. The author did a great job of showing both sides, as well as throwing in some good twists. Loved!!

Amazing book!!! As someone that struggled with getting pregnant, this book hit home a little more for me than average readers. Although lots of people struggle these days. I don't know what I would do if I were either of these women. I feel like the author did a great job of showing both sides as a mother. Parts of it were predictable-Quinn's husband. But then other parts were huge shocks. Highly recommended. Can't wait to read more by her!

“Our Stolen Child” is by Melissa Wiesner. I misread the Publisher’s summary of this book, so I was expecting a twist to surface a lot earlier than it did. So, this book focused less on one thing and more on another, which actually made it a better book in my opinion. Most of the book focuses on an ethical (or if one wants moral) question - who is a parent - the person who is biologically related to a person or the person who raised said person? What legal rights does a genetic parent have over a birth parent? I found the legal discussions of this topic to be rather interesting - and it did remind me of some of Jodi Picoult’s writing in how Ms. Wiesner’s book made me think about the situation. I was pleased with the outcome amongst the grown-ups, though the Epilogue section felt a bit too perfect to me (good for the overall story, but it was a bit odd for my taste). Engaging writing.
