Brendan and his wife are divorcing and he is moving from California to New Hampshire. He takes a road trip from CA to NH with his 10 year old son Brenlyn, following a severely outdated travel guide. They have some fun adventures and some extremely foolhardy ones, which really set my teeth on edge. The story takes place in 2002 and maybe 20 years ago parents weren't as cautious, but I think they were. Maybe if this was set in the 1970s it would be more understandable. The journey wasn't as fun to read about as I expected and I found Brendan to be a pretty insufferable character.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book for my review.

The story takes place in the summer of 2002. It is between two characters, father Brendan Tibet and his son Brenlyn, age 10. They take a trip across America and follow a travel guide from 1930.

The father is a film maker, he is getting a divorce, and has to tell his son on this trip.
The trip goes thru some great places, Yosemite, Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone, and many other places.
There are many situations thru out the book which provide for an amusing, fun, scary episodes which keeps you going.
They even make up fun names for each other in each state they pass thru. The story has a motive not written so much but you felt it between son and dad. The dad trying his hardest to give him love and trust.
I enjoyed this book and recommend it.
