Love and Other Flight Delays is a bind-up collection by Denise Williams of interconnected, yet standalone novellas that all take place at an airport. These are super short, snack-size stories that are cute and so quick to get through. The cover is adorable and what grabbed my attention!

The Love Connection:
3.5 stars. Bennett is a professional risk assessor by day and writes steamy romance novels by night! He is charming, rambling, and adorably awkward. He’s currently facing writer’s block until one day he rescues a dog running through the airport which leads him to Ollie, the airport pet groomer, who immediately inspires him! Ollie can’t believe her luck when she finally gets to meet and speak to Bennett, her frequent flier crush! This was just cute: cute airport dates, cute pets in the airport, two adorably cute characters. I loved that Bennett writes steamy historical romances and Ollie reads them. I was expecting steamier times between Bennett and Ollie and that was a let down, but otherwise so cute!

The Missed Connection:
3 stars. Gia and Felix meet while on a layover at the airport, they end up spending some time together and even share a New Year’s Eve kiss before going their separate ways. Months later they meet again, at the airport, only this time they meet as professional rivals. They actually spent months working together, before meeting up in person, without realizing they were the person they shared that magical airport night with. Felix has been the one challenging Gia’s research so she is not that happy to meet him. This is a grumpy hero, sunshine heroine read. They become colleagues and even have to travel together for a five-school tour for work. Lots of travel time, airport trips, and a shared motel room for these 2! This one was okay, didn’t feel as connected to the romance or characters chemistry in this one sadly.

The Sweetest Connection:
3.5 stars. Best friends turned lovers, they both work at the airport. She finds a pros/cons list of someone contemplating a relationship with their friend and secretly hopes it’s the hero’s list. When it’s not his, they set out to find the couple it belongs to and confess their own feelings along the way. Told in present day and then flashback from when they first met 7 years ago during buddy video calls for college.

Thank you to the publisher (Berkley Books) for an e-ARC via NetGalley. All thoughts in this review are my own. Love and Other Flight Delays has a pub date of March 14, 2023!

Denise Williams can do no wrong! Her books are amazing and I’m a fan for life. It was nice to read a more lighthearted set of stories from her. I listened to these on audio as well last year. Fun quick novellas!

This was such a cute collection of novellas. I love that all three had an airport theme, because there’s nothing I love more than traveling. And as any frequent traveler knows, when you’re single, you always hope to meet the partner of your dreams while you’re having a grand adventure…it’s almost a metaphor for then having an adventurous relationship that feels as perfect all the time as a trip or vacation might.

I’ve come to expect a high spice level when reading books by Denise Williams, so I was surprised that these were generally tame comparatively. But when the stories are much shorter, there’s not enough time to get into too much spicy detail. I did think the character development was great. I loved that the chapters were generally alternating perspectives from each of the two characters in the story, and I loved that because the stories were so short, all of the unnecessary fluff and drama was eliminated. I also loved the characters. All had what they considered to be a fatal flaw in themselves, but were able to share those flaws with their prospective partners throughout the course of their nontraditional courtships.

Overall, these were absolutely romantic stories that could happen to anyone looking for love (or not!). My favorite type of romance.

Thank you to the author, Berkley Publishing, and NetGalley for a review copy!

Denise Williams' collection for three novellas is such a delight. The stories all center around the same airport and its many guests. "The Love Connection," "The Missed Connection," and "The Sweetest Connection" are intertwined in that the reader sees familiar characters in each story, but they very much stand on their own. The romances are steamy, sweet, and unforgettable. A wonderful collection!

3.5 stars rounded up!!
Thank you SO much to Berkley and NetGalley for this e-Arc in exchange for an honest review!!
Ahhh, I love love love novella collections, and this one was no different!
The biggest complaint that I have is that honestly, I wish they were longer... and I know that's totally not the point. But I would eat up full length novels of all these stories!
I read other reviews that say these reminded them of Love Actually, and I totally agree! The vibe and overall feeling I got matched that perfectly!

Loved these interconnected airport romances ❤️

•The Love Connection•

Ollie has had her eyes on him for months. When she finally gets the chance to talk to him, she realizes he’s even better up close. Bennett isn’t sure how he’s missed this girl considering how often he flies in and out of the same airport but she’s sparks his creative juices so he has his eyes on her now.

Adorable novella. I love that they met while Ollie was chasing after a dog in her care in an airport. Bennett is so sweet and says what’s on his mind. I love that he’s a romance author and so open about it to Ollie. Even better that she reads all of his books.

•The Missed Connection•

They had one kiss on New Years Eve in an airport and went their separate ways. A few months later, Gia is back at that airport to pick up a thorn in her side - her new colleague. Felix doesn’t mix business with his personal life so when he realizes Gia is his new work associate, he shuts things down before they can start again. No matter how much he doesn’t want to.

This was super cute! And wow, that epilogue was AMAZING! They’re so considerate of each other and their feelings. They’re also total opposites which is fun to witness but they really mix well together. Ahh!

•The Sweetest Connection•

They’re best friends, nothing more. They crossed the line once and they’re not willing to risk their friendship again. Teagan leaves for France in a week and Silas is soaking it up, even taking extra shifts at the airport they both work in so he can spend as much time with her as possible.

Ugh, these two! You just want to shake them.. but you can also understand why they’re so hesitant. Especially since their friendship is so sweet and solid.

The epilogue wasn’t what I was expecting but still a great wrap up to the series. I just wish we saw their relationship a year later.

*I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review with my honest opinion.*

This collection of novellas is the perfect way to get out of a reading slump! Denise Williams wrote a fun and flirty novella trilogy about three couple who find love in the airport! If you are looking for something short and sweet to enjoy this is definitely a bingeable collection that can be read in an afternoon! Also, don't let the covers fool you because these pack some serious spice as well!

4 ⭐️ This collection of swoon-worthy novellas is a must-read!

And while these are three different stories, I loved how they were all somewhat connected and seamlessly woven together. Well done! My overall rating for this collection is 4 stars, but I've included my ratings for each novella below.

The Love Connection: 5 ⭐️

An airport pet groomer meets her frequent-flier crush and finds herself in a fake-dating situation with a professional risk assessor who moonlights as a romance author.

I absolutely adored this story. Honestly one of my favorite novellas ever. I can't even tell you how many times I smiled like a freaking idiot while reading about Ollie, the biggest sweetheart, and Bennet, a huge cinnamon roll. Their romance is a slow burn with great banter and delicious tension. There's even a hand-holding scene that made me swoon. SWOON! I'm not kidding. lol The only 'complaint' I could possibly come up with is that their story wasn’t a full novel. I just loved them so much that I never wanted it to end!

The Missed Connection: 4 ⭐️

Two strangers share a romantic night only to discover months later that they're professional rivals about to embark on an extended business trip together in this grumpy-meets-sunshine romance.

This was such a cute strangers to lovers to co-worker rivals to lovers story!!! THE TENSION! *Chef's kiss*. And the fact it has the grumpy x sunshine and 'I hate everyone but you' trope! Incredible! Gia (Bennet's best friend from the first novella) and Felix were so much fun to read about - and even though it’s a novella, I still felt like I knew them. I really liked them, but I loved the first couple more. I would read a novel of the first couple, but the novellas for these two were perfect.

The Sweetest Connection: 3.5 ⭐️

Two best friends have one week to return a lost love letter found in a candy store at the airport--and work up the courage to confess the deep feelings between them--before one of them leaves the country.

Friends-to-lovers isn’t my favorite trope, but this was sweet and enjoyable. Silas and Tegan have spent years secretly in love but are too worried about ruining their friendship. I'm not going to lie, there were quite a few times I wanted to wack them on the head several times for being completely clueless idiots. 🙈 I mean really, this was more of an idiots-to-lovers story than anything. Haha

But I think my favorite part of the story was the epilogue! I can't say anything without spoiling it, but it was the perfect way to end these stories!

This group of three interconnected stories set at an airport had good intentions, but I had trouble keeping the characters and their timelines straight. Chapters alternate male/female points of view.

In “The Love Connection,” risk assessor and romance novelist Bennett falls for the business manager of a pet grooming business near the gate he always flies into in Atlanta. She’s unsure she wants to have a long distance relationship and they have witty banter and a series of compelling dates on his layovers.

In “The Missed Connection,” a weather delay sends Ben’s best friend Gia, chemist, to the airport bar on New Year’s Eve where she asks a cute stranger to pose as her husband to gain herself a seat. By midnight, they’re dancing and kissing. Fast forward three months, and Felix turns out to be A.F. Ennings, the new colleague joining her work team–the one she dislikes through their correspondence. When they get sent as ambassadors together to tour multiple universities, the forced proximity brings some grudging respect and rekindles their mutual admiration.

In “The Sweetest Connection,” best friends Silas and Teagan both work at the airport; he in and she at an upscale chocolate boutique. They’ve been in love with one another for years but haven’t taken the leap. Silas hasn’t told Teagan yet that he’s broken up with his long term girlfriend. Teagan’s about to leave for a semester abroad in France, and has discovered a traveler’s pro/con list on whether to make feelings known and make the leap from friends to lovers. It never occurs to her it might be Silas’s–but she engages his help in trying to solve the mystery, convinced it must belong to a friend, co-worker, or regular traveler. This was my favorite story. Their story moves back and forth in time, and then crosses paths with the other stories.

Elements of the story reminded me of Love, Actually. I did have to pay close attention to how everyone was interconnected. The plotting and pacing are excellent, and if anything, I wanted longer stories about each set of characters, and could see peripheral characters getting their own spinoff.

I received a free advance reader’s review copy of #LoveAndOtherFlightDelays from #NetGalley.

This group of connected novellas is SO DANG GOOD. My only complaint - I wish they were longer (which yea yea would've not been novellas then but I wanted more!.

Overall loved these novellas and wish they were full length! Gia and Felix were my absolute fave (the banter! The steam! The tension!). Ollie and Bennett were absolutely adorable and Teagan and Silas (my least fave) were super sweet. I also loved the ending and all the acknowledgements in the back. If you like Love Actually and feel that love is actually all around *even in the airport* you’ll love this.

This book was so much fun. I loved that it was 3 separate novellas and they all connected. I liked that characters from the others made appearances in each. I think Gia and Felix’s story was my favorite. I wouldn’t say the book was super spicy but it had just a bit to make it even more fun. I definitely would recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick and fun read.

I love these novellas! I am so happy they are being put in one collection to read together. Denise Williams is quickly becoming my favorite romance author.

I read each novella individually, so there are reviews available of all four stories! Denise Williams in one of my favorite romance writers, and these novellas were so fun to read. I'd highly recommend checking them out :)

I'm a little sad to say this was pretty disappointing to me. Something that I love about reading novellas is how fast they actually /feel/ when I'm reading. Unfortunately, these stories felt very long to me. The Love Connection was pretty sweet, not my favorite, but I found things to enjoy. The Missed Connection was the standout of this collection for me, I loved the characters and the way they got together and the tropes that were used to get them there. The Sweetest Connection was a big miss for me, except for the epilogue. Overall, I wouldn't say I hated this book, or that I wouldn't recommend because I think a lot of people would enjoy these stories and the way they connect, but it was not a very fun reading experience for me personally.

These were cute! Very cute quick and fun reads. My biggest issues with novellas is they are done before you really get to know the characters. But if you want something quick and cute, then this is for you!

I wanted to enjoy this but found both the spice/romance scenes and the dialogue between the two characters odd and not easy to follow. It honestly made me cringe.

I really loved all of these flight delays and all of these characters. I love that Denise can really do a lot with each novella and make me feel fully invested with each couple. I also loved how they each connected in a small way to one another so you still got to see each character as time went on. There was the right amount of background, figuring out each character's motive, and a sweet romance to each novella. This would be the perfect book to read while traveling as you could easily read a novella on a plan ride or while having your own flight delay!

The Love Connection
Everything Denise writes is GOLD, and this novella is no different. I think a lot of authors have a hard time nailing down the pacing of a novel, but I think that this was done perfectly. I’ve never seen a pet grooming store in an airport, and I love that the meet-cute had to do with a runaway dog. Love it.

Bennett is so sweet, I just can’t even. Out of all of these romance books I’ve ever read, Wes is still my #1 book boyfriend, but Bennett sure does give him a run for his money. I tend to have a type, and unfortunately, it’s the workaholics, so I could understand the conflict here when he goes quiet on her. It’s frustrating, and hard to deal with, and I think the scenario was done really well because of how realistic it is. I loved the airport dates, Ollie as a character was very likable and from the start, I was rooting for her airport crush to become more :)

The Sweetest Connection
Let me just start off by saying - Denise is nailing these novellas. Secondly, this one is for all the hopeless romantics out there. :)

This is the second one I’ve read, and I liked it a lot! The friends-to-lovers trope in this story was so sweet. I would love to watch this be a short movie; so many missed opportunities and so much pining - ugh. I think it was the perfect length to give you a bit of swoony sweetness, and I loved the epilogue.

The Missed Connection
I think there’s been a flurry of romance books that take place in academia, and I think this is one of the better ones. I loved the reconnection between Gia and Felix, I loved him as a grump, and I loved all of their instances of forced proximity.

I really liked this novella series! It's definitely a surprise to see Williams write a story with minimal to no trauma unpacking, I would love to hear if this was her COVID mind candy project because of the stress of the pandemic.

I am a huge fan of Denise Williams and couldn't to read her three novellas set in airports! These stories are so cute and I love how they come in a paperback book for my collection. Each story was unique in their own way and it didn't feel like the "same story different font" like some authors do with their novellas. Highly recommend!
