This is a good book. The two main characters are Anna and James. Anna and James has known each other all their lives. When they were in high school they were boyfriend and girlfriend. When they graduated they broke up. Anna comes back to town to audition for a play. James is a co-owner of the ice cream parlor and works on the family farm. He sees Anna when she comes back to town, realizes he is still in live with her. They have some issues but together they work them out and fall in love.

An audition brings Anna back home and a reunion with her old boyfriend, but can it be a second chance at love? With her 30th birthday six months away, Anna is running out of time. She needs to achieve success on the stage as an actress or give it up for good. Her agent sends her back to her hometown for an audition. She runs into her ex-boyfriend, James. They spend some time reconnecting, and she admits to herself she misses him. The same conflict from years ago rears its ugly head. She craves big theatre with all the glitz and glamour and he’s a true blue farmer. Yet, an offer to help teach kids in a summer camp aimed at theatre entices her. Can she fulfill her dreams and rekindle her romance with James? Or is she a failure at both?

Backstage Butter Brittle is a sweet summer romance I enjoyed. With my favorite ice cream flavor in the title, I was instantly hooked. I connected with both Anna and James. I related to Anna on many levels. She’s against a deadline and she’s not sure if she’ll get her dream fulfilled. But like everything, life has a funny way of making things turn out. It may not be how you imagined or envisioned, yet the end result is so much better. Elizabeth John takes this idea and bases her story on it. This is my first book by Elizabeth John and I was quite impressed. The plot progression is smooth with just the right balance of emotion and conflict. The romance flows naturally with tender moments. The characters were very relatable which made for an immersive read. The ending made my heart swell. Even though this is a summer romance, it can be read anytime. If you love sweet romance, pick up Backstage Butter Brittle. If second-chance romance is your reading jam, you’ll want to read Backstage Butter Brittle. A delightful romance from start to finish, Backstage Butter Brittle will melt your heart faster than ice cream on a hot day. Highly recommend!

Backstage Butter Brittle is a short and sweet book about second chances.
Anna and James have known each other forever and been childhood sweethearts. Their lives took them in different directions to reach their goals and dreams in life.
Anna had dreams of reaching stardom as an actress. James was a farmer with dreams of having a little more in his life.
When life takes a turn and brings them back together is this the dream and goals they had for their lives.
I enjoyed this watching how their lives once again meshed and how things evolved for the two.
Thank you NetGalley, Elizabeth John and The Wild Rose Press, Inc for the copy of Backstage Butter Brittle. This is my personal review.
