I absolutely loved the first book in this series, so I came into this one with high hopes! I was excited to see the characters continue their journey and put themselves in more high stress situations.
Sadly, this just didn't live up to the first book. The story was a lot slower and it didn't pick up to what I was anticipating until the last half of the book (maybe last third). Overall, it's a fine read, and would recommend if you've read the first. It did leave me thinking there could be more in this series, so hopefully, if there is a third book, it will be as good as the first.

This continues to be a completely unique series; my hope is that the next one leans more towards how Sena was written than Remy. I got a some murderbot vibes from Remy (which is good) but she needed to be a little less tell and more show (I needed less about her promise, her distaste for Kiran, etc bc she brought it up a lot).

Two plot twists I figured out but one I did not which was fascinating.

I really hope that even if the next book is told through another POV we get more insight into Sena and her relationships.

Meg Long did it again with Swift the Storm, Fierce the Flame as a sequel. I enjoyed being able to explore more in the universe and another world, this time the exact opposite of the world in the first book. I loved Remey in the first novel so I'm glad we get to explore her more in this novel.

I'm usually so critical of sequels but this one was just so good. If you haven't, you need to read the first book Cold the Night, Fast the Wolves before you dive into this one. I loved the characters and I loved the plot. There's so much action and drama, which kept me entertained the whole entire time. Lots of reveals in this book as well! Meg Long definitely did this story justice and I cannot wait to see what else she decides to do with this world she built. Absolutely recommend reading this one, but read the prequel first!

I was a big fan of the previous book, Cold the Night, Fast the Wolves so I knew I would love this one as well. It did not disappoint. The events occur after the first book as Remy, Sena, and Iska, crash on Maraas They are there to find Kiran, another genopath who will hopefully lead them to Alora, Remy's friend that is missing. The place has changed a lot since she has been gone and there are rumblings of a coup and fights amongst the corpos. This book really has it all, great characters, an interesting setting, lots of action, and mysterious circumstances. It took me a bit to get into this one but I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading more about these characters.

As a big fan of COLD THE NIGHT, FAST THE WOLVES and the world Long built on Tundar, I was equal parts excited and nervous to dive into a totally different world and narrator. But the nerves were unfounded. Long built a equally fascinating, distinctive story, and I'm already hoping that we get more in Remy, Sena and Co.'s stories.

I had enjoyed Cold the Night, Fast the Wolves so I was glad to read this new book. This had what I was hoping for based on the description, I was invested in what was happening in the book. The characters were great and felt like real people. I was invested from the cover and really glad I was able to read this. I look forward to more from Ms. Long.

"And the scent . . . Underneath the fur and smell of carrion, I caught a hint of pheromones similar to the ones that genopaths emit. Which can only mean that Weiland is in league with Nova somehow. No one else would want to alter or control a deadly predator. No one other than Nova. Does Kiran know about this? My gut says he does. Which can only mean he’s playing both the corpo and the syndicates for fools."

So good. You all need to read book, Cold the Night, Fast the Wolves before diving into this but it's so worth it. I don't want to say it improved, because it wasn't in need of improvement, but the world-building just hit different here. So many elements were explained so much clearer and built upon what we already knew. From the great characters, to the plot, to the ending, this sequel was executed impeccable.

"Swift the Storm, Fierce the Flame" was a good sequel. This time Sena and Iska play a supporting role to Remy, although they are still quite active and essential to the story. They crash land on Maraas, a planet vastly different from Tundar; instead of ice, snow, and blizzards, there is jungle, rain, and the infamous hellstorm. Maraas has its fair share of predators, both human and non-human. Remy has come to Maraas to find her ex-partner and fellow genopath, Kiran, because he will know how to find Alora, the friend she failed to save two years earlier. Remy quickly discovers that a lot has changed in the two years she was gone. The Vega syndicate, which had controlled the city of Verem, has largely been eradicated. The city and the planet are essentially run by TerraCo now. And the hellstorm is becoming more frequent and deadlier. Remy will soon cross paths with Kiran, whom she does not trust and whose agenda she cannot figure out. She will also find herself mixed up in the rebellion led by the mysterious syndicate figure Revas that is brewing against TerraCo and its leader, Weiland.

The story has lots of action and intrigue, full of twists and turns. Remy will learn new things about herself and learn the truth about what happened two years ago and why Kiran betrayed her. Even Sena will find a link to her past on Maraas. And they will uncover a deadly alliance between Nova and TerraCo and uncover a fiendish plot by TerraCo, that if successful, will irrevocably alter life on Maraas. The story introduces a number of interesting new characters, several of whom will likely appear in the forthcoming third book in the series, as Remy, Sena, and Iska continue their private war against the corporations.

Wow! I was so happy to get an invite from St. Martins to have an early read of this book via NetGalley. Once my brain kicked in and I recalled the information from the first book in this series, the story started to make a lot more sense.

Like in the first novel, it takes some time to enter into a new world, a new mission and some new faces. I will not give a synopsis of the story as I do not want to give anything away. I enjoyed so much, the interaction of the major characters. A lot as said and a lot was not said and all of it draws you deeper into a relationship with everyone. This was an action story with emotion.

This book has many twists and turns and reveals and it held my interest until the very end. I really want to know what is going to happen in book three! I think I will have a bit of a wait. Yikes!

This book was chaos. Absolute chaos. It was nonstop action, nonstop plotting, and nonstop twists. I loved it for that, but I have to admit, I'm exhausted after reading it. I went through a whole rollercoaster of emotions.

First off, i loved exploring another world in this universe! This one was the exact opposite of Tundar, but I loved it just as much. The stakes were completely different, it felt completely new. Also, loved the emphasis on climate tampering! It was a super interesting moral dilemma, and one i was surprised to see in fiction.

I also loved the deeper look into this universe in general. We got to see more of the Scavvers, more of the corpos, and more of the inter-planetary politics. While Cold the Night, Fast the Wolves focused strongly on survival, this one played with a more strategy focus, and it was so much fun. They were both wildly different and the perfect companions.

I will admit though, I missed Sena as a narrator. I loved Remy, but she didn't compare. Sena still got tons of page time, and Iska was still a constant, but I wanted more. I connected to them so strongly, I wasn't ready to give them up. The ending of this was super open though, so I'm hoping we get a book three...

Although I preferred CtNFtW, I still loved this one! I look forward to rereading this one when the next book releases :D
