Sadly my least favorite book in the series so far. I didn't care for the police training setting, it wasn't my favorite and honestly it made this book feel a little dull compared for the others. It wasn't as engaging and it almost felt like a book filler for the series. There wasn't much character development as the other books but I did still enjoy the outlandish adventures and dry wit from Finlay and her awesome sidekick. This definitely won't cause me to stop reading the series, I just hope the next one is better.
Thanks to Minotaur Books for the gifted copy for my honest review!

I love this series so much. Elle's writing is so engaging and fun with well developed characters and friendships. I thought this was a great ending to the trilogy.

Thank you to the publisher, author and netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book before release.
Unfortunately this was not it for me. I read the first two books of the series and they were ok. The first book was the best in my opinion.

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun is the third book in Elle Cosimano's series.
Finlay Donovan is trying to disentangle herself from the insanity that has become her life. However, every time she tries to remove herself from these ridiculous situations, she ends up being drawn in deeper. Now Finlay has landed in a police training camp for citizens trying to find a contract killer at the behest of a mob boss.
This is just as fun as the previous entries in the series and this is a perfect read a like for Janet Evanovich fans.

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun is Book 3 in Elle Cosimano’s series. And although I LOVE this series, book three was just ok for me. I definitely LOVED books 1 & 2 and still have high hopes for book 4 when it arrives.
I enjoyed the narration. It really keep the storyline moving. It was just the book itself was a little too far fetch and unbelievable at this point for me. In my honest opinion it didn’t add any value to this series whatsoever.
A huge thank you to NetGalley, Minotaur Books and Macmillan Audio for this e-arc & listening copy in exchange for my honest opinion. I did enjoy it however, it wasn’t my favorite but am I here to continue to read about Finlay and Vero, 100%.

This was my favorite book of the whole series so far because it felt the most realistic of the 3. I like that Finlay and Nick are starting to actually figure things out and I really enjoyed the police academy plot line.

Another fun and exciting read about Finlay! This one was great and I enjoyed the closed door setting. I thought it made Finlay a little less chaotic which was a nice surprise. All in all it was a great read and I look forward to the next book!

I have been reading this book series with my Cozy Mystery Book Club and it's been a lot of fun. I'm really enjoying these books. Our group is ready for book #4 to be released in 2024. I would definitely recommend this book series to any reader especially if they are a fan of mystery and/or cozy mystery.

Elle Cosimano's Finlay Donovan series has become one of my favorites. It is funny and entertaining. Yes, it's a bit over the top--but in a good way. That's part of the fun of the series! The third book in the series, Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun, is no different.
Finlay is an author and a divorced mother who, along with her nanny/accountant, trouble seems to find all too often. It is not Finlay and Vero's fault that people seem to die around them. Finlay is on a deadline to finish her latest novel, her ex-husband wants to reconcile, the sexy cop she has likes but is avoiding keeps calling, and she is trying to help Vero get out from under a debt she owes a not so nice person from her past. All the while parenting her two children. Oh, and Mob boss Feliks expects Finlay and Vero to figure out the identity of the contract killer that is out to undermine him. Finlay strongly suspects the killer is a cop, and she has two weeks to find out who he is. When the opportunity to attend a citizen's police academy comes, Vero and Finlay decide this may be their best chance--not only to find the killer, but also hide from the people after Vero.
Finlay and Vero find themselves in several tight situations as expected, and seeing how they will get out of those situations is half the fun. I loved that the author found a way to include Finlay's nosy neighbor, Mrs. Haggerty. She's quite the character. Then there is Finlay's ex, Steven. By the end of the last book, Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead, I had begun to think that Finlay's ex might have some redeeming qualities, but I am back to disliking him completely. I enjoyed seeing detective Nick and Finlay's relationship go to the next level. The parallels between Finlay's struggle to finish her novel and her relationship with Nick were a nice touch.
Finding out the identity of the contract killer does not prove to be easy, although Vero and Finlay have a few ideas. Their efforts to find the killer are hampered by other crises that arise. My suspicions may have proved correct, but I enjoyed seeing how everything played out.
While this book can be read as a stand alone, I do not recommend reading the books out of order. Each book builds on the other and, while the author does a good job of catching the reader up in a natural way, having the full backstory is part of fun of this series.
There was plenty of action, humor, and a few moments of "what are you thinking?!" All the while I had a good time reading this book. I cannot get enough of this series. I enjoy spending time with the characters, and stepping into Finlay's world for a little while is a great escape.

Love love love! I could read these books all day every day!
If your into fun crime books with a touch of romance and lots of laughs - Finlay is your girl!
I can’t wait for the new book!

It is always a fun (and wild) time with Finlay and Vero! It features a lovable cast of characters, mystery, and plenty of action. I found myself laughing out loud in parts, but after two installments, I think the Finlay series is becoming a bit repetitive for me.

Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest, personal review. This was not my favorite of the series but I still found the characters enjoyable (most of them anyway). Finlay and Vero are still dealing with Felix and the money that Vero owes and the situation seems to be getting worse before it is getting better. Plus, Finlay's waffling regarding a relationship with the detective is getting a bit tedious. Other than that, I hope that there will be a book 4.

I originally was given this book from Netgalley as a kindle book for review. However I really wanted to have the audiobook and waited until the book was published so that I could purchase the audiobook.
I love Finlay Donovan and Elle Cosimano writes in such a way that I can feel tense, waiting for the next shoe to drop and then write a scene so funny that I'm laughing out loud and people are giving me funny looks.
I love this series and will definitely continue this series in audio format!

My least favorite of the three. The books are starting to feel repetitive and not as funny. Still enjoyed but probably won’t continue

This was so well written. I was engrossed from the first page and it ticked all the boxes of my expectations. The character development was excellent. I would definitely recommend to others, a must read!

I love this series with all my heart but I don't see how it's going to be dragged out more. Where I thought this could have been a great trilogy I just sometimes wonder if continuing this story would be as good. But regardless I love the friendship development between Finlay and Vero. I think them being friends is just so natural and they love each other. Im really here for the drama so give me more!!!!

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC of Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun, while I like the main character, this ultimately was incredibly repetitive and lacked the spark of the first two.

I think this series is so fun, but this book was definitely my least favorite so far. The premise of these books is ridiculous, which is why they're so entertaining. But this one required me to suspend belief a little too much and I just couldn't do it. I'll probably still pick up book four, but I'm hoping we get back to the magic of book one.

Sadly I just found this repetitive of the first 2 books of the series. I loved the first book in the series and honestly I wish it was a stand alone. I find the whole plot interesting but just didn't love it.

Today! Today is the day I finally catch up on Netgalley Reviews. I really am ashamed how many months I am behind on some of them. But, here's the thing I say time and time again... There are some books that I talk about all the time that I assumed I've written a review about, until I check my handy dandy review journal and realize I haven't. *hangs head in shame*
Thank you @macmillan.audio for the listening + @netgalley copy! This book is narrated by Angela Dawe and she was able to do distinctive voices for all the characters; especially how I picture Vero to be.
Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun is the third book in the Finlay Donovan series. You'll definitely want to read the first two before you pick this one up. In this book Finlay is basically trying to uncover the identity of Easy-Clean, a contract killer who solicits jobs through an online forum. Scratch that, she is being forced by the Russian Mob. When Finlay thinks the killer might be a cop, her and her nanny, Vero, spend a week at Citizen's Police Academy training to scope things out.
Rating: 3.5 rounded to 4 stars. This book felt like a filler book too me. Sure we had Finlay and Vero's usual antics, (and who doesn't love that!) but it didn't have the same feel with everything happening at the Police Academy. It was like they were trapped! I'm glad the love triangle between the cop and lawyer was decided. Will I read the next book? You betcha!
