Finlay and (even better) Vero are back for another installment of 'How did we get here?!' in their never-ending quest to do the most atypical stuff in the most innocuous environment!

While it would be possible to read this as a standalone, I cannot recommend that approach at all. It's much more enjoyable to know the backstory of nearly all of these characters coming in, so readers who haven't started from the beginning should.

Finlay is an entertaining m.c., but once again, it's really Vero who steals the show. She's hilarious and does not suffer fools, even if she sometimes is playing the role of the foolish one. Their antics will please incoming fans of the series overall, but for me, this really did feel like a middle book with less of a standout plot, influx of character development, or particularly memorable moments than its predecessors. Don't get me wrong; I was entertained and am already dying to read the next one (and - clearly - the plan is that there will be a next one. The setup is unmistakable).

I love these characters and especially their friendship and can't wait to see what kind of wild hijinks they get up to next. This is a soothing balm in light of the semi-recent loss of the fun series _Good Girls_. Suburbia, beware!

Elle Cosimano’s “Finlay Donovan” series is a joy! Each book is better than the last one, and the third installment is no exception. The adventures of Finlay and her accountant/nanny Vero continue to be unexpected, tense, and hilarious. The central mystery is complex and engaging, and the characters surrounding Finlay are always entertaining. No one ever turns out to be who they seem, which adds to the enjoyment. It seems cruel to hope that Finlay and Vero never find their way out of this mess, but I really hope that this series never ends! Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book.

Book 3 in Finlay Donovan's harrowing adventure as a novelist-turned-accidental-hit(wo)man-for-hire as she finds herself indebted to Russian mobster, Feliks Zhirav. Now, she must figure out who was trying to kill her husband, Steven, as readers pick up where the plot left off in book 2. She must find the identity of the elusive (likely a cop!) Easy Clean before Zhirov, kills her or Easy Clean. Fin and Vero sign up for a Citizen's Police Academy run by love interest, hot cop Nick, they must work through identifying Easy Clean before Feliks decides their time is up.
Told from Finn's POV, this is a novel filled with hi-jinx, red herrings, and cringe-worthy scenarios Finn and Vero find themselves in. Compared to the first two books, this was harder for me to finish because it got to be a little too stressful as both women just kept running into seemingly impossible scenarios full of tension (so great job Elle Cosimano for building that tension). However, there were still moments of laughter, some steamy passion with Nick and Finn, and surprises as readers are left with yet another cliffhanger as Finn and Vero are dragged deeper into the crime world. Overall, 4 stars!

Thank you St. Martin's Press, Minotaur Books and NetGalley for this ARC!

The Finlay Donovan Series is such a guilty pleasure of mine because of how readable and fun they are. In Elle Cosimano's latest installment of this cozy mystery, we pick up right where book two left us: Vero and Finlay are trying to figure out who the mysterious EazyClean is in order to get mob boss Feliks Zhirov off their backs. In order to do that, they have to go digging in possibly the easiest place for them to get caught--among the FCPD. Their journey at the Citizens' Police Academy is silly but so fun and I couldn't put this one down. I can't wait to see what Finlay and Vero get up to next!

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun is available on January 31!

I have read several of the Finlay Donovan books in the past and they always remind me of Stephanie Plum novels. Not sure why but I didn't enjoy this one as much as I wanted to. I couldn't connect with the story line. Because I have enjoyed them in the past I will definitely be picking up the next one.

This is the third book in the Finlay Donovan series. The first one was my favorite of the series. This one seemed to drag a bit in places and I felt like we were rehashing so much of what happened in the second that it felt a bit tedious.

I did like the change of scenery to the police training camp. Lots of opportunities for crazy antics and the book did not disappoint there. I love the relationship between Finn and Vero. It's my favorite part of this series. I'm glad we got to know some more about Vero, but I'm dying to see what will happen with her and Javi! Another character I really like is Mrs Haggerty. There needs to be more of this crazy old neighbor. I could use less of Steven. He's getting on my nerves and I kind of wish "EasyClean" had taken him out.

I loved the cliffhanger ending. It's obvious there will be another in the series and I'll be anxiously awaiting it and hoping the author adds some more of that signature humor that was so present in the first book.

Overall, this is a fun read and an interesting mystery. Definitely do not start the series with this book, you'll be completely lost.

This was another fun book in the series. I really enjoyed getting back to the story with Finlay, Vero and everyone else.

It really love the interactions between Finlay and Vero; especially Vero encouraging Finlay to peruse Nick.

The extended mystery and overall crime story line is so enjoyable and I am looking forward to seeing what comes next for everyone.

{thx to Macmillan Audio for the ALC}

As always I love Finlay and Vero- I jumped up and down when I got the chance to read an ARC of this latest installment! This one kept met at the edge of my seat because I kept thinking they would be discovered! As always Stephen annoyed me but it all made for an excellent read- especially when she finally connected with Nick!! I can't wait to hear even more about Vero's past/backstory hopefully in later installments. Also the setting of a police academy in this one just made everything a thousand times funnier and more creative.

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun is the latest installment in this fun cozy mystery series.

Finlay and Vero are up to their hilarious hijinks again trying to find out who Easy Clean is to prevent the wrath of mob boss Feliks. This time they are scouting out a police academy to find the killer.

I love the strong female protagonists in this story who just seem so authentic. Like honestly I feel like they’re my friends. As usual there are laugh out loud moments which are the hallmark of this series. While it doesn’t feel like we are any closer to solving the mystery I look forward to the next installment.

What characteristics do you look for in a best friend?

I think I should have just read the first book of this series and then left it at that. I'm starting to find this story dragging on a little too long and I'm actually disappointed that there will still be even more books to come in this series.

Vero is still my favourite character for sure and I do love the little bits of humour, but the mystery aspect and progression of the story just has me at a standstill and my interest is dwindling more and more with each book.

I loved this book! I've read all of the Finlay Donovan series and I've found them so entertaining. The mystery is always interesting and the other components to the plot really add to the book. The dialogue and banter are always one of the highlights of these books. I love Finlay and Vero's relationship. I was also really glad that Finlay finally gave in to her feelings for Nick. I hope their relationship continues further into the series. Looking forward to more of Finlay's adventures!

I loved the latest installment of the Finlay Donovan series! These books are so much fun. The third book in the series takes the murdering down a little when Finlay and Vero attend a civilian police academy program hosted by Nick--ostensibly for Finlay to research her latest book, but really for Finlay and Vero to try to discover Easy Clean's identity before Felix's deadline (literally).

Finlay and Vero's antics are back full-force, and this book is full of the expected hilarity. While it doesn't top the first book for me, I loved this continuation of their story and can't wait for whatever shenanigans Elle Cosimano cooks up next.

I have really enjoyed the Finlay Donovan series and was excited to get an ARC (thanks NetGalley!) of the third book so I could read them all back to back. As expected, it was full of adventure and humor and a ton of cringe main character events. However I agree with many other reviewers that feel this adventure didn’t measure up to the previous two. I loved the twists and the finally resolving tension between her and Nick. But, there are just so many loose threads with only more unraveling and nothing being tied up. I am glad to hear that this is a four book series so we can get some closure in the next book. Overall still worth the read, but the first two set the bar too high.

Another fun Finlay book, but my least favorite so far. I feel that the series has lost some of its magic and is starting to get repetitive. How many of these ridiculous situations can Finley and Vero get into and out of? I wasn’t a huge fan of the police academy part of the plot. I did like that Finlay finally chose a man to commit to rather than stringing two along.

FINLAY DONOVAN JUMPS THE GUN
Elle Cosimano

This might be one of my favorite “thriller” series I’ve ever read. I have so much fun with it and allow myself to relax and stop being critical and just enjoy my favorite hobby- reading.

In the Finlay Donovan series, we’re following Finlay. Finlay is a writer, who is recently divorced with two young children. We meet her when she has writer's block, and her editor is on her case for her next book. As the novel proceeds Finlay goes through a series of mishaps with her friend Vero who follows her around during all of her hijinks.

In this book, the third installment, we meet up with Finlay and Vero again. They’re up to their old tricks and Finlay’s got another book due. Can they pull everything off that they have planned, and can Finlay finish her book?
Only time will tell.

I love this series for a few different reasons. I am glad to say that I enjoyed this installment better than the second. I was so sad to not have enjoyed (KNOCKS EM DEAD) as much as (KILLING IT). But this one turned the minivan around and I cannot wait for their next adventures…fingers crossed.

I recommend this book and this series to all readers. It has helped to rejuvenate my love of reading and remind me that it’s ok to smile every once in a while and enjoy what I’m reading.

Thanks to Netgalley, St. Martin's Press, and Minotaur Books for the advanced copy!

This one comes out January 31, 2023!

FINLAY DONOVAN JUMPS THE GUN…⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Finlay and Vero are attempting to get out of the messes they made in the prior two books, while continuing to wreak havoc while they do it. It's wildly entertaining.

This book picks up right where the second left off and is action packed and fast paced. If I have any regrets it's that I didn't re-read the first two prior to listening - the details from the prior books were a bit blurry and so that was a mistake on my part. This book was fun and sets it up perfectly for a fourth book - I will definitely listen to the first three on audiobook prior to jumping into the next installment. I loved how big of a part Nick played in this book and that we explored that romance more. I definitely did not guess the bad guys correctly and really want an open question answered, so I will be sticking with this series!

Overall this is a fun series and this was a great addition! It's basically the book version of the Netflix show Dead to Me - if anyone wants to turn this series into a TV show I would gladly watch it.

3.5 stars!

This series is just hysterical. Finlay and Vero get into the biggest messes then they have to figure out how to get out of them! This is the 3rd book in the series and I hope there is a long life for this series! I love the characters and all the fun they have! I received an advanced readers copy and all opinions are my own.

First and foremost, thank you for an advanced copy of this book! I love this series so much and am so happy I didn’t have to wait an entire year to read the next one. I am OBSESSED with Finlay and this one was, of course, no exception. I literally cannot get enough of the Finlay and Vero duo. These two get themselves into such shenanigans and it makes for such an entertaining read. As with the first two books in this series, it ends with a cliffhanger so I'm happy to know there's another Finlay Donovan book coming to us in the future! Definitely recommend this series (must read in order!) to anyone looking for a suspense novel but make-it-funny. These books keep me laughing the whole way through.

Thank you @minotaurbooks @macmillanaudio for a copy of the book. I highly recommend reading the first 2 books to really have the background as this book picks up right where book 2 ends. In this story, Finlay and Vero is finding the identity of Easy Clean under time deadline and must find a way for Vero to repay her debt.

Lot of shenanigans between these two and we also see Nick in this story. I love the tension between Nick and Finlay and seeing if they end up together.

The narration was great and I so need this book to become a movie.

While I did enjoy the third book in this series I found that it is starting to get repetitive. It feels as though it is being dragged out. I still love the characters just wish the plot was moving faster.
