Thank you to Netgalley are Minotaur books for providing me with an eARC of this book to review. I am a big fan of the Rockton series, so I couldn't wait to dive into this book!

The setting for this book Havens Rock during its construction. The plan is for Haven's Rock to be an off the grid untraceable refuge in the Yukon wilderness for victims who need a place to hide and recover.

Eric and Casey, two of the founders of Havens Rock arrive for a site visit. When they get there they find that two members of the building team have vanished into the forest. At Rockton, the previous settlement they both worked at they were sheriff and detective respectively, so they get pulled in to investigate the missing persons.

During their search, they find a unknown woman dead in the forest, adding yet another twist to the story. Like any Kelley Armstrong book, the characters are interesting and well developed. I read this book in two days, as all the twists and turns kept me guessing and trying to figure out the answer to the murder victim and the missing persons.

I think this book would appeal to other readers, who loved the Rockton series. The new setting is interesting. There are lots of returning characters from Rockton as well as some intriguing new characters. However, Armstrong gives enough background detail that I think that this book would be enjoyable for readers who haven't read the Rockton series as well

I received this ARC for an honest review. Honestly, I was a little nervous to read this story. How well will Kelley Armstrong merge this spin off to the original series?
I shouldn’t of been nervous. Kelley Armstrong did her magic with this story. She did a great job paying homage to the original series, but showing the reader that this is a different story line.
This series still has Casey and Dalton. They are building a new town named “Haven’s Rock”. It has the same concept as Rockton. Which is to be a person’s temporary haven, but Casey & Dalton has a say who stays.
They go to Haven’s Rock early because their contractor needs help finding two of her employees because they got lost in the Yukon’s forest. Or so they think. When Casey and Dalton searched for Penny & Bruno, they found a female dead and they think it’s Penny. But, It’s not. They have so many questions to answer with so little time. Because people will start showing up and they can’t have a killer near by.
Kelley Armstrong is such a brilliant writer. She knows how to write a mystery. She’s great at letting the reader to play detective along with Casey & Dalton.
I highly recommend this new series. It completely kept my attention, and I can’t wait to read the next story.

Murder at Haven's Rock by Kelley Armstrong was quite interesting and had an intriguing and kept-me-guessing mystery. The author's writing style really held my interest and had me reading well into the night. The plot and pacing of the story flowed well. I liked these characters, and the setting and atmosphere pulled me into the story.

I will check out more books by this author. I would recommend this book to those who like a good, solid mystery, interesting and well-developed characters, and an atmospheric read. A solid 4 out of 5 stars. Love the cover as well.

I received an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

I didn't know when I started this book that it was part of a series. While I wish I had started at the beginning, it didn't keep me from understanding the dynamics between the excellently written characters. It's an engaging read that I found difficult to put down. I'm going to get all the other books and then read this one again!

Hadn't read the Rockton Series, so some of the characters and references were confusing to me. Did enjoy the interaction with Casey, Dalton and Storm. The story line, the mystery, the locations and the out of the ordinary characters were all well written. Rockton Series fans will not be disappointed.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review "Murder At Haven's Rock", the beginning of a new series (I hope) from Kelley Armstrong.
As sad as I was to see the end come for the "Rockton" series (which I started reading in it's serialized version, years ago) I was always hopeful that there would eventually be a new series featuring some of the characters that we'd come to know and (at least some of them) love over the years - and I was not disappointed.
Casey Butler and Eric Dalton - now husband and wife - are brought to Haven's Rock - the sequel, as it were in book terms - to Rockton when not one but two of the crew disappear under mysterious circumstances.
So, we have a mixture of excitement, as they are able to explore what will become their new home, and trepidation as it appears that they just cannot catch a break when it come to murder and mayhem.
As with all of Ms. Armstrong's stories there are the main characters - which will again include Will Anders, April Butler, Emilie, Phil et al - and secondary characters (the crew who are building the town as well as some outsiders (even in the Yukon you're somehow never alone in the wilderness) who may or may not be involved in the disappearances.
And as with the previous Rockton books, there is always intrigue along with breathtaking vistas, treks through the deep woods, encounters with wildlife and further deep dives into the characters inhabiting them.
This one has quite the convoluted storyline, and at times I lost track of who did what to whom, and why; but in the end it all became clear.
Recommended, but you should definitely read the Rockton series before trying to figure out what's going on now, and why.

I was SO excited to receive an ARC for this book. I LOVE Kelley Armstrong, and her Rockton series is my favorite.

This is the start of a new series which picks up where the old one left off. The survivors of Rockton are starting over with a new town - Haven's Rock. However, I honestly believe that if you did not read the previous books, you will be lost with this one. Part of what I loved so much about this book was spending time with the characters that I have grown to love.

I truly enjoyed reading about their new adventures, and I loved meeting new characters who will be appearing in this "new" series. I loved this book and read it in one sitting.

If this book looks interesting to you - do yourself a favor an start the series at the beginning. Get to know the characters and the history - that will make this so much more enjoyable.

Kelley Armstrong is a favourite author of mine and I always enjoy what she writes. Murder at Haven's Rock is no exception. I was excited to find out we would be getting more time with Casey and Eric as i really like both characters. I am curious as to where this series will go as the first book has the Butler's on the way to their new settlement Haven's Rock to find two missing workers when they discover a dead body. The novel follows their investigation and introduces us to the new settlement. If you enjoyed The Rockton series check this book out. Thank you NetGalley and St. Martain's Press for the ARC.

After the events of the last Rockton book, Casey and Eric have decided to build a new refuge, called Haven’s Rock. They’ve recreated some of the places in Rockton even in some cases using the actual material reclaimed from the old buildings.

It was great to read about their adventures and meet several new characters. I enjoyed the mystery and the writing was great, as always.

A great start to the new series, and a great continuation of the story.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

Thank you NetGalley for the digital galley of this book. My review is completely mine.

Kelley Armstrong does it again! You really can't go wrong with her books. Such a great read and keeps you engaged.

I loved this book! I wish we had more information in between the two series, but overall, I think this sets the stage for a great follow-up series from Rockton.

While we still get the feel of Rockton, it's a completely new territory for all of the characters, which is refreshing from Rockton. It's not so familiar and makes Haven's Rock more of an adventure as the series will go on but with still a lot of the same issues at the same time that keeps you on your toes and is so intriguing.

I do feel that some of the characters were rushed and skimmed over a bit, but I feel that may be because they are not very important going forward, which makes sense.

This book does set up the series which leaves you wanting more to see what will happen next at Haven's Rock. I already can't wait to see what happens in the next book!

Casey and Dalton truly have the worst luck. While construction is underway at their new location of Haven’s Rock, 2 members of the team go missing. Casey and Dalton are called in to investigate the disappearances and locate the missing people. Kelley Armstrong has such a way of weaving a story so that you think you know “whodunit”, then realize you’re wrong. As always, it was such a pleasure reading one of Kelley Armstrong’s stories, and I can’t wait for whatever she has up her sleeve next. Thank you NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and of course Kelley Armstrong for the ARC and the chance to review this book.

Huge Rockton fan here and was very happy to receive an advanced copy from the publisher and NetGallery for an honest review!

Though I didn't completely love the last book in the Rockton series, it was sad it was ending. Thankfully Haven Rock is being built and Casey and Dalton are back in a well paced, page turning adventure. The ending is hands down the best I've read in a long time. Just enough to say where's the next book?!

In this new spinoff series of the Rockton books, Murder at Haven’s Rock finds Casey and her husband Eric investigating the disappearance of 2 construction crew members in the new town of Haven’s Rock, which the duo is in the process of building in the Yukon wilderness, patterned after Rockton, a hideaway for people who need a fresh start. Some familiar faces return, along with some new characters, and things pick up right where they left off as Casey and Eric waste no time in getting accustomed to their new Town. Excellent start to a new series, as the book seamlessly segues to a new beginning with a worthwhile mystery, and the anticipation of more to come. Fans of Rockton will be thrilled! I received an arc of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I receive this title from NetGalley and loved it! Casey, Eric, and Anders are back at it again. Haven Rock had the right amount of mystery and suspense needed to keep you on your toes. It also sets up what's to follow in the new town. It's a definite read for Rockton fans as well as Armstrong fans.

Thank you Netgalley for the advance reader copy of Murder at Haven's Rock by Kelley Armstrong in exchange for an honest review. When I read the last book in the Rockton series I was really bummed, because I loved the series and the characters so much. Then I heard there was going to be a spin off with Casey and Dalton and a few others and I was ecstatic. Then I got an advance copy and I couldn't wait to start it. I had surgery shortly before I started it, but it was still hard to put it down. This book was better than painkillers, it distracted me from the pain because it was so good. I really enjoyed it and getting to see how their new settlement got started.

I've read all the Rockton books and I loved them all and I was so excited when I heard about the spin off series and it did not disappoint. The book does a good job at keeping what you love about the original book series but still making it its own thing. Its interesting to see how Casey and Dalton figure things out on their own and the added bonus of not having the counsel interference and how much easier and harder that is for them. I also love how one of the biggest problem Casey and Dalton face is the unknown whether that be the new people or Haven Rock itself and everything that comes with building this place because as much as they planned they never were gonna be fully prepared. The only thing I would say is I want more of Dalton whether that be a few chapters from his point of view or in a novella I just feel like there's a lot that can be explore with him that I would love to read about.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Rockton series and was sorry it was ending, but I’m happy to read the further adventures of Casey & Dalton in Haven Rock and look forward to more books in this series. This was as twisty as I’ve come to expect and it was nice to see some new characters along with the old familiar ones.

4.5 stars
I absolutely loved the Rockton series and was beyond thrilled to get this advance reader copy of Haven’s Rock from NetGalley. It was great to catch up with some of the old gang and also get to meet a new cast of characters in the new settlement. I agree with a previous reviewer that this book was lighter than some of the Rockton books, but have no fear, as there’s still plenty of action and intrigue to be had!
I went back and forth deciding between giving 4 or 5 stars. Too often, I find that mystery books keep the thought process of the investigator obscured so we can be shocked in real time with the final reveal. I appreciated how this book follows Casey’s thought process from start to finish. That being said, it did get a bit repetitive through the middle with the interior monologue running the same suspicions and scenarios over and over. Still, I devoured this book and have only myself to blame for how long the wait will be for me to experience the next installment.
PS- I will definitely listen to the audiobook when this releases to the public, assuming the ever sublime Therese Plummer will be at the helm once more!
