This looks like a fun, silly rom-com.

This was a DNF for me. I couldn't get into it. I hated the characters. I really wanted to love it. Again, DNF.

Something I loved about this book was how funny it was from the very beginning. If you can make me laugh from the first chapter, you definitely have my attention! Also, an adorable hedgehog? Say less! One thing I love when reading a book is getting attached to side characters. Kat's friends where hilarious and smart and I loved them so much!

The main reason I'm not giving it a full 5 stars is because I found the end was a bit long for me. I think it could of certainly been 50 pages shorter. However, it still didn't take away from the humor and wonderful journey that the story portrayed. As I was reading it, I couldn't stop thinking how much I'd love to see this turned into a movie. It has all the things for the perfect rom-com! Overall, I would happily recommend this book!

If all I got from a breakup was a pet hedgehog, I might not mind the breakup. In Too Wrong to Be Right, Melonie Johnson introduces readers to Kat Kolawski - who is determined she is done dating until she finds the one. This book is full of a fun cast of characters and some truly ridiculous hijinks. It's for rom com lovers who don't mind a bit of the absurd.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and thought it had some great laughs and sweet romantic parts. I did find it slow and missing that spark to grab my interest. It’s the good ole friends to lovers troupe, with the female main character swearing of men, then meeting the perfect guy to only friend zone him. It didn’t stray far from the formula and wasn’t very memorable.

This is a delightful rom-com, a bit of stretch at times but still hilarious. The characters are likable and the story is enjoyable. I loved the hedgehog and the foul-mouthed bird and while the hero was supposed to be a cinnamon roll, he came across a little bit as a pushover. And the heroine is a bit wimpy for my taste, but they make sense together. A nice, light-hearted read.

It's just so cute!! I laughed out loud and loved these characters. Great writing!

While I have loved this author before, this wasn’t my favorite.
I found Kat to be a little obnoxious and unreasonable.. Mike was for the most part bland.
Were there swoon worthy moments? Yes. Did I like the book? Yes. But them as a couple just wasn’t it for me.

this is truly a romcom of the highest caliber.
it was laugh out loud funny while also being heart warming, and relatable. i love how the fmc found herself and stood up for what she wanted, she didn’t accept less than what she thought she deserved!
this was fun, quick and thoroughly enjoyable. a perfect palette cleanser between heavier books, too!

💭 T H O U G H T S

I was initially drawn to Too Wrong to Be Right by the cover, and then knowing one of the characters would be a florist had me hooked. I thought the synopsis sounded fun and entertaining and definitely had the potential to be great.

What I liked:
• the meet cute. Kat and Mick meet in a funeral home (his workplace), which is so unique. It was messy and awkward, and of course, I was here for it.
• the initial interactions. The witty banter of their initial interactions had me really invested in the beginning. Everything was cute and fun... until it wasn't.
• the occupations. Both Kat and Mick had interesting jobs. Being a florist is something that has always interested me, and I think there is so much to learn about what the funeral business is like.
• the animals. The hedgehog and the grumpy cockatoo were equally entertaining, adding a little bit of fun to the storyline.
• the side characters. For me, they were the star of the show with this one. Mick's family was great, and Kat's friends were fantastic.

What I didn't like:
• the love triangle. The fact Kat has chemistry with Mick and yet decides to try to make things work with his brother, Joe, despite not having any chemistry just felt silly and dumb. I get it all works with the title, but Mick and Kat together just had some much potential.
• the third act conflict. I won't say too much so as not to give everything away, but it just left me rolling my eyes.

Overall, this one started out good, yet my interested waned as it went on and it ended up feeling longer than it need to be. There were definitely some great moments and secondary characters, but it just dragged longer than need be. I would still be willing to give this author another go, but maybe I'd lower my expectations a bit knowing what I know now.

I wasn't able to finish this. I could not get the motivation to read it because it just isn't what I prefer to read. Unfortunately, it did not work for me.

I was initially drawn to this because of the gorgeous cover. Too bad it was wasted on this disaster of a book, though.

Too Wrong to Be Right had two of my least favorite tropes, insta-love and love triangle, both of which were introduced pretty early on. I loovedd the idea of a funeral home owner and a florist, but it just wasn't giving the connection that I was expecting.

The writing felt sloppy and rushed. I had a hard time finishing this.

Too Wrong To Be Right was just as fun a read as Too Good To Be Real. I missed the corgis, but we got an entirely different menagerie of animals in this one! Johnson's humor hits just right and I loved the banter. I didn't love the lack of communication on Kat's part, and found her a bit hard to root for. Overall a good lighthearted read!

Was it just me or did Melonie Johnson give Moose Springs from Sarah Morgenthaler's books a shout-out?

Too Wrong to Be Right was a great story! I love these characters and their world. I hope to revisit soon!

I loved this book and really liked the overall story! They were really relatable characters and I liked the authors writing. The reason it only got 4 stars is because it’s a slow burn and I’m not a huge fan of those.

Melonie Johnson has been on my radar for a while. If you don't follow her social media accounts, do yourself a favor and follow her, she's fantastic. When I saw this book on NetGalley, I jumped at the chance to read something she'd written. Unfortunately, life got in the way, and I've only gotten to it now. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Honestly, I liked it. Kat and Mick are both relatable characters who aren't quite sure about who they are, what they want in life. Kat has a dream of owning her own flower shop, and works at a florist, for now, and Mick works for his family's funeral home. Overall, the story has a lot of witty banter and laughs, particularly with the scene-stealing animal sidekicks.

The story is a bit of a slow burn and once she told him to go away, and then got upset when he actually listened to her, and honored her words, it started to lose me. For my part, I liked Mick a heck of a lot more than I did Kat, based entirely on maturity levels. He might be a bit adrift, but he communicates better.

In general, I think this is a solid rom-com, and will appeal to anyone looking for a fresh voice in the market. Happy reading!

I have to say, every book I've read by Melonie Johnson has been a good time and this one is no different. The premise of asking the guy you clearly like to be your wingman is a great trope and I loved the twists and turns of his family owning a funeral home. There were moments that brought me such joy but then her being the last single friend was emotional and this book just really ran the full spectrum of emotions. I truly truly enjoyed this one and I'm going to be adding Melonie to my 'auto-read' list.

I really enjoyed this book! Love the characters and the growth of the characters. I read this book in one day. I would definitely recommend this book.
