3.5 rounded up to 4.
Let's start off by saying I didn't really connect with the main female character, she's flighty, insecure and always has a sob story about not being able to keep a boyfriend.
Rom Coms are supposed to be light reads for when you want to read something light and not really have to think about it.
Not so in this one, there is a lot going on. Our mfc gets dumped right at the beginning of the book but he dumps his hedgehog on her too. The hedgehog is a positive in the book, he's a cute addition.
She meets a new guy but has sworn off men for now she wants him to be her wingman and nothing more. With more than casual glances and witty and flirty banter it doesn't stay casual for long.
I didn't really connect with the mmc either he's sort of a pushover and goes along with whatever she says. When the mfc checks her list of male qualifications for a boyfriend and thinks she may have hit it off with his brother and spends time with him he doesn't step in to stop it or say she is his.
A cussing bird that has no problem insulting everyone adds flavor to the story.
I think the book has filler and could have done with about 100 pages less as parts of it do drag. I also thought we would spend a lot of time in the floral shop out mfc works in but barely anything.

I'll give you three words: swoony, adorable and hilarious!
Two Wrong to Be Right was definitely all those things, as well as being a light and easy read!
I really loved the female cast of characters in this book, particularly the FMC, who was really relatable. I also have a soft spot for the MMC's sister (actually hoping she gets her own book!).
The attraction between the two main characters was off the charts and their banter was PER-fect! I love me some good sarcastic dialogues!
I wasn't the biggest fan of the older brother plotline (trying to keep this spoiler-free) but it didn't end up being a big issue for me, with how it was handled in the end.
TWTBR is a stranger-to-friends-to-lovers well worth the read and perfect for those who believe in finding their happily ever after- and reaching for it!

3.5⭐️
A hedgehog, naughty bird, cozy cocks and a funeral home…Enough said to get pulled in!
Kat sometimes annoyed me and don’t get me started on the miscommunication issues. But I would love to go to an O’Sullivan family event!

I find it impossible not to like the characters in Melanie's stories and I just love the way she includes animals and birds in her stories. My heart belongs to Seamus!
There were parts of the story I felt didn't quite click, but overall I enjoyed reading Too Wrong To Be Right.
Some parts were really sweet and some was really funny. And other parts I felt tugging on my heartstrings.

Kat feels like she’s being left behind. Her two besties have solid love relationships and her latest trainwreck of a boyfriend just dumped her and left his hedgehog. Things need to change, and she decides to follow her head and not her heart in the future. She tries to ignore the immediate chemistry she feels with funeral homeowner, Mick O’Sullivan. Maybe they can be just friends?
The chemistry is there with these two. Loved the precocious cockatoo. What I didn’t love: Kat’s neediness and the lack of communication between her and Mick. Especially from the guy with a master’s degree in psychology. I did enjoy this book, though and rated it 3.5/5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this ARC.

Meh…this book was disappointing. It started off kind of boring- the fmc is so gorgeous that she immediately attracts the attention of the smirking, winking mmc. It takes most of the book before I care at all about their relationship. Mostly, it just doesn’t make sense that she wouldn’t decide to date the mmc earlier on. She’s trying not to date jerks anymore, but it’s clear early on that he’s not a jerk. The book tries to repeatedly insist that they are friends, very good friends, but this is never the case. They spend very limited time together and it’s obvious they are interested in each other. The mmc is definitely only spending time with her because she’s beautiful. The main characters finally get together then have in inane, toxic fight out of nowhere.
I preferred many of the side characters, Mary-Kate and even Joe. I actually feel like I’ll strongly prefer Joe’s character as the mmc of a romance. I read the book featuring Julia and Luke and gave that one 3.5 stars, but this one was just rough.

Okay so, overall I'd say this story was fine. I actually really enjoyed the lead characters - Kat and Mick - and their chemistry. However, a lot of the stuff around it made the story feel a bit off kilter. Like:
- forcing a love triangle with Mick's brother (that had... literally no bones to it?)
- Kat's obsession with needing to be in a relationship
- both leads at times just ignoring the fact that they've moved forward in their relationship and then just being like "we're friends" and never communicating
so... yeah, it was fine

Strangers, to friends, to loves between a florist and a funeral home employee, with a cute hedgehog, and a potty mouth bird
Kat is the manager at a floral shop, who has just been dump by her boyfriend and left in charge of a hedgehog. On a call to deliver flowers to a funeral home she has a literal run in with Mick. Mick works at his family run funeral home with his prickly brother and sunshiney sister. After their run-in they expect to never see each other again, the run into each other again at a pet store and strike up a friendship. She is determined to find Mr. Right but Mick does not fill any of her criteria so she keeps up a friendship with him while pursuing a "perfect man". She may eventually realize that everything she has been looking for has been there the whole time.
I was really loving this until the dumb miscommunication of the 3rd act breakup. Mick was so sweet and I was swooning every time he spoke. I love the theme of family that ran through the whole story. As well as the animal companions that made this story wonderful.

This book was too slow long and Kat was painfully obtuse and annoying most of book! The miscommunication/no communication was painful and unnecessary. Mick was perfection and the fact it took her long to finally acknowledge was honestly kind of unbelievable. I wanted to love this book and did love parts but overall it was fairly frustrating read because of her fighting the entire way and then both of them dragging their feet to go to reconcile.

If this cover didn’t pull me in, the cutest hedgehog, talking cockatoo, and p*nis cozies sure did! This was my first book for this author and even though it wasn’t my favorite I enjoyed how lighthearted and cute it was. I enjoyed the banter. I loved Kat’s coworkers, friends, and grandmother. I loved Mick and his family (Joe, not so much). I found myself laughing at the predicaments the characters for themselves in and loved how all the characters were Earth friendly. There were few things that really drew me away from the story. Kat was very whiny about being single to the point where she became annoying. She always supported her friend’s relationships but would be throwing a pity party internally. She kept saying she wanted a real relationship yet sweet, charming Mick came along and she said nope and went after his brother?? Mick deserved better and he should have dropped her. Not my cup of tea. Also, that first kiss was more awkward than it needed to be. But overall, I enjoyed the writing style and would be willing to read more from this author!
*Big thanks to St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Too Wrong to Be Right has a classic romcom setup. Heroine gets dumped and decides men are trash and won't date until she meets Mr. Perfect. But what happens when you meet Mr. Perfect. Do you trust your heart or your head?
Kat was a frustrating character. I wanted to yell at her sometimes! She refused to give into her obvious feelings for Mick for what seemed like silly reasons. Then she decides to pursue his brother?!? It just didn't make sense. I am also not a fan of swapping siblings in romance books. It always gives me the icks. Plus, Mick was a great catch from the start. Kat was just being obtuse. In my opinion, I think it just took too long for them to get together.

"Too Wrong to be Right" by Melonie Johnson sounded like a fun little Romcom. This novel promised readers a not very cute 'meet cute' that evolves into friends to lovers with a side dish of hedgehogs and foul mouth birds. Sounded like a lot of fun. It was...mostly. my biggest problem with the book is the fact Kat keeps talking about not wanting to date anymore 'jerks' and she needs to find a nice guy. Then enters Mick who by all accounts IS a nice guy. He never gives her reason to think or suspect otherwise and despite her attraction to him she decides to pursue a relationship with his stuffy brother? I didn't get it. The entire plot was resting on the fact that Mick wasn't right for her and yet the author provided no evidence he was anything but perfect for her. I didn't think Kat and Mick ended up having that great of chemistry and I think that was in large part to Kat trying to date his brother. It got a little weird and silly to me. I also thought that the book had some pacing issues. I mean they way Kat and Mick met could have been romcom gold and should have been a ticket straight to the top but after such a unique meeting the next few chapters just dragged on for me. It lost its momentum and then ultimately just didn't quite deliver what I want in a solid romance novel. I didn't however hate this book and it did have a lot of fun moments and interesting characters. I would probably read another book by this author.
Thank you so much to Net Galley and St.Martins Griffen for providing me with an ARC of "Too Wrong to be Right" by Melonie Johnson in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

I loved this cute friends to lovers rom com. Mick was my favorite character! There were so many funny moments. Kat and Mick were great together. I'd definitely read more by this author!

Unfortunately I had to DNF this one. Not the book for me and I couldn't get into the main characters.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this book! It was a very simple easy read with heartfelt, light moments and some cute banter. I felt there where a few "weird" moments - Like the family dinner date with the brother (the whole thing just felt awkward for me). But other than that it was good book that was perfect for my daily train commutes!

Too Wrong to Be Right is a sweet, delightful "slow burn"/"friends to lovers" romance. Main characters Mick and Kat are both realistically written; each has charm aplenty, but also some flaws that impede their getting together. I'm always a little frustrated when the thing that's keeping the couple apart in a romance is poor communication because one character expects the other to read their mind, and there's definitely an element of that here, but it's resolved in a way that feels realistic and demonstrates better behavior to the reader. (Having a side character with some good sense that can speak plainly to at least one of the love interests REALLY helps with that.)
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book!

This rom-com from a new-to-me author, Melonie Johnson, was generally enjoyable and had some fun and funny moments as well as more somber incidents of pain or growth. It definitely trod some familiar romantic comedy paths (starts with the heroine being dumped, she makes a list of what she wants, can’t see what’s in front of her in the hero) but also had some interesting moments of character development as the hero and heroine work together to evolve their professional and personal ambitions. Thank you to St. Martin’s and Net Galley for the ARC.

Did not finish. This book was incredibly vile and vulgar - not my cup of tea. The foul language was distracting and showed a lack of of intelligence. Will not be reading anything else by this author.

This was a delightful and funny romcom with the perfect amount of angst, tension, friends to lovers, and miscommunication galore. Mick's entire family was a hoot and the dirty mouthed cockatoo was delightful.
I really, really liked the exploration of Mick's character and the growth his character had from beginning to end. Yes, he wasn't perfect, by any means and even though he wasn't proactive enough at times and was insecure, he was vulnerable when he needed to be. This story was really sweet and I enjoyed it a great deal.
I also loved Kat and her hedgehog. I loved that she was bold and determined and that she stood by her decisions, wrong or right. She owned her stuff, which was amazing to see, even when she was wrong.
Kat and Mick together in scenes was really the highlight though of this novel. Their friendship was great, but as they spent more time together you could just feel the chemistry and tension building and the slow burn here was done very well.
What a way to kick off 2023!!!!

This book took me longer than I would have liked to get through, but it was beyond worth it. I certainly enjoyed this book more than I initially thought I would after the first quarter of the book. Once I was able to truly sit down with the book, I binge read it and only took 1 hour break because I had to. Otherwise, I read the last 75% of this book without stopping it was so good. Such a page turner.
