Too Wrong to Be Right was a great story! I love these characters and their world. I hope to revisit soon!

I loved this book and really liked the overall story! They were really relatable characters and I liked the authors writing. The reason it only got 4 stars is because it’s a slow burn and I’m not a huge fan of those.

Overall I enjoyed the plot line and book 😊

Melonie Johnson has been on my radar for a while. If you don't follow her social media accounts, do yourself a favor and follow her, she's fantastic. When I saw this book on NetGalley, I jumped at the chance to read something she'd written. Unfortunately, life got in the way, and I've only gotten to it now. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Honestly, I liked it. Kat and Mick are both relatable characters who aren't quite sure about who they are, what they want in life. Kat has a dream of owning her own flower shop, and works at a florist, for now, and Mick works for his family's funeral home. Overall, the story has a lot of witty banter and laughs, particularly with the scene-stealing animal sidekicks.

The story is a bit of a slow burn and once she told him to go away, and then got upset when he actually listened to her, and honored her words, it started to lose me. For my part, I liked Mick a heck of a lot more than I did Kat, based entirely on maturity levels. He might be a bit adrift, but he communicates better.

In general, I think this is a solid rom-com, and will appeal to anyone looking for a fresh voice in the market. Happy reading!

Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

I have to say, every book I've read by Melonie Johnson has been a good time and this one is no different. The premise of asking the guy you clearly like to be your wingman is a great trope and I loved the twists and turns of his family owning a funeral home. There were moments that brought me such joy but then her being the last single friend was emotional and this book just really ran the full spectrum of emotions. I truly truly enjoyed this one and I'm going to be adding Melonie to my 'auto-read' list.

I really enjoyed this book! Love the characters and the growth of the characters. I read this book in one day. I would definitely recommend this book.

I enjoyed this romance. I thought the writing was witty and I liked the story. It was a pretty classic romance with some classic miscommunication, but not too much that it started to feel redundant. My biggest complaint was the 3rd act breakup. I find that trope to be pretty annoying, but OK when it is done well and adds to the plot. The 3rd act breakup in Too Wrong to Be Right, however, did not feel crucial to the plot. I thought the reasoning for them not moving forward was valid, but the way Kat just expected Mick to know what she was thinking despite telling him the whole time he was not what she was looking for and that she just wanted to be friends with him, felt unfair. Also, just expecting him to show up to the wedding when she never even tells him when it is!? That felt ridiculous to me. Overall, though, I did enjoy this story and thought it was a sweet romance. Also can't say I have ever read a romance where one of the main settings is a funeral home.. definitely an interesting touch!

I want to start by saying that overall, this was such a cute story. I loved the quirkiness of Kat's friend group. They felt so real and relatable. I also enjoyed Kat and Mick's initial interactions. However, the book just wasn't my cup of tea when I got to the semi love triangle with Mick's brother. I tend to avoid books with that trope as it's not my favorite. Kat deciding to pursue his brother just didn't sit right and kind of gave me the ick. That is more a personal preference thing, though. This was my first Melonie Johnson book and I've heard great things about her previous work and will definitely look into them.

Too Wrong to Be Right was a fun enemies to lovers story set in newsrooms of London. I enjoyed getting to see the characters play out and really appreciated the epilogue!

I couldn't get passed the whiny sob story Kat had throughout the story. Girl, we get it, you swore off men.

I loved the premise of the book and the MCs meet cute in a funeral home (definitely something new) too bad their relationship didn't feel organic at all. The MC was very stubborn to the point of unreasonable through a lot of the book and really didn't work for me.

I thought this was a really cute book! The banter was top notch and I really enjoyed the Irish culture of everything. The miscommunication between the two main love interests kind of drove me crazy, but ultimately I really liked their relationship and found myself rooting for them. The miscommunication and the FMC trying to force a relationship with the brother she had no chemistry kept this from being a five star read but I ultimately enjoyed it.

I know, I know. It's hard to believe a book set in a funeral home could be so much fun, but WOW what a treat! I love Jojo too. That hedgehog stole my heart and my funny bone.

Can't wait to read more of Melonie Johnson's books!

I didn't really enjoy this book. The characters felt flat, and I ended up DNFing it around the 80% mark. The story had potential, but I found that I just couldn't get into it, as the author's writing style wasn't my favourite, and the characters were difficult to connect to. I did enjoy the humour, however, so there's an extra star for that.

If I wasn't already a fan, I would have stopped reading on the third page with the pronoun nonsense, because I am not reading a WOKE book. But I guess authors today have to check certain boxes in order to get published, so that was the token WOKE comment, then there is the token homosexual character. Aside from that, the story is delightful to read with appealing characters and an engaging plot.

Kat Kowalski is dumped by her boyfriend who also dumped his pet hedgehog other too. But Jojo turns out to be just what Kat needs right now. With a dysfunctional family, she has always yearn for a loving one and made her college besties her family. But now they are both in relationships and she feels left out, so devises a list of qualities that she wants for her Mr. Right. Unfortunately, passion is not one of them. So when she meets Mick O'Sullivan, (they even have a cute meet), she places him firmly in the friend zone, which he decided to go along with at the beginning, biding his time until he can convince her that there was something special between them. While the O'Sullivans have a big loving family, Kay puts herself between Mick and his older brother Joe, who fits all the requirements on her list, except chemistry.

The two grandmothers are great, dispensing sage advise. Lots of humor, lively banter and even slapstick.. However, after awhile, Kat's indecision on how she felt about Mick got wearisome. Telling him to stay as a friend and then coming on to him, telling them to leave and then getting upset when he does what she asked. There was also this weird scene at a shiva house (Jewish house of mourning) where people left their shoes out side. This is not a Jewish custom. Maybe Muslim or Japanese, but not Jewish.

I read an ARC provided by the publisher via NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

This was an overall good read! To start off with what wasn't my favorite, I had an incredibly difficult time connecting with (or even liking) Kat. I just felt like I really didn't understand her or what drives her beyond her recent heartbreak. I also usually prefer one or two POVS especially in a story based directly on a relationship between two characters, but I don't think that lessened my interest in this case. As for the actual writing, I LOVED the writing style in this story. Consistent with Too Good to Be Real, her banter between characters feels natural and snappy- which is a must for me. This won't be a favorite of mine, but I did enjoy it!

I really went into this read wanting to love this book but as it continued, I couldn't fully get into it. As time went on, it began to feel more like a chore to finish it. I got lost in the back and forth of the long, drawn out conversations and found myself rolling my eyes one too many times as things continued to go off the rails. From the moment Kat's ex left a hedgehog in the flowershop, I was ready to put it down and walk away but then I met Mick and obviously had to continue because he is, for sure Mr. Right but Kat was just too wrong most of the time. There were a few times where this book made me laugh (like I am still obsessed with the cockatoo) but overall, it is not one I would want to read again.

Thank you so much to St. Martin's Press for the ARC!

When Kat Kowalski's most recent jerk of a boyfriend ends their relationship (and leaves her to care for his pet hedgehog), she reaches a decision: no more wasting her time chasing after Mr. Wrong. Seeing her two closest friends progress into more committed relationships, Kat realizes it's time to break the cycle of repeating the same mistakes that have kept her stuck in the realm of singleness. Determined to find her perfect Mr. Right, she creates a list of qualities that he must possess and swears off dating until she discovers him.
In a twist of fate involving a mishap with a deceased body and a feisty cockatoo, Kat crosses paths with Mick O'Sullivan at his family's funeral home. The instant spark between them serves as a warning sign for Kat to keep things strictly platonic. After all, following her heart has never led to anything but disappointment in the past, and this time she's determined to let her head make the decisions. But can Kat and Mick truly remain just friends?

To be honest, I was initially worried about reading this book due to some of the reviews. It ended up pleasantly surprising me and exceeded my expectations. While Kat and Mick annoyed me at times, I still found myself rooting for them. I absolutely loved the unique element of the funeral home in this book. Overall, I genuinely enjoyed this book and I will most likely be reading more from this author.

Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a slow burn but definitely a cute romcom. I started it and put it down a few times to read other stuff but overall I liked it.

I felt like this book had a lot of potential, but I wasn't as drawn in as I hoped. Kat and Mick have chemistry, but I found her odd she decided to pursue his brother because Mick seemed too much like her ex which dumped her. Kat seemed toxic in many ways, which was ironic because she's a counselor. I was disappointed.

After her latest boyfriend leaves the country and leaves her his hedgehog Jojo, Kat is frustrated enough to give up on listening to her heart. Following her attraction just isn't working, so she makes a list of qualities she thinks will find her Mr. Right. After a meet cute including a corpse and a naughty taking parrot while delivering flowers to a funeral home, Kat feels attracted to Mick but puts him firmly in the friend zone. He doesn't check her boxes but the more time they spend together, she starts to think maybe her ideal Mr right is all wrong.
This book had so many laugh out loud moments right from the very first line. Mick and Kat just clicked and I wanted to shake her every time she insisted on friendzoning him. The family vibe in the book was sweet and fun. My favorite character had to be Seamus...I absolutely love that bird lol!!
