This book had potential but the fmc was too annoying for me. She had a list of reasons as to why she shouldn’t be with Mick but they didn’t make any sense. He was emotionally there for her the whole book so why did she think he only wanted her for her body.

I received an arc through netgalley.

Absolutely loved this book by one of my favorite authors. Kat and Mick are great characters with the added bonus of a pet hedgehog. I highly recommend this one.
Kat and Mick meet at a funeral home owned by his family when she’s delivering flowers for the deceased. After a near disaster is averted she realizes there is immediate chemistry between her and Mick but after many dating disasters she’s decided following her heart never works. She tells Mick she wants to be friends as she searches for Mr. Right and he reluctantly agrees. After they get to know one another Kat realizes that Mick is who she’s looking for but is she willing to risk it and find her one and only?

Rom-Com lovers this one’s for you!

Kat and Mick were a bit of a mess but honestly who isn’t. Overall a very enjoyable read! I have to say though Seamus stole the show and I am 100% here for it!

Kat is done dating jerks after her now ex-boyfriend dumps her. When Kat meets Mick at his family's funeral home in an awkward meet cute situation, Kat keeps Mick at arm's length because she is determined to find a guy that meets her list of what qualifies for a perfect boyfriend.

The premise sounded cute and while there are some cute scenes there were times when Kat annoyed me, and she seemed to set some high standards I did enjoy the scenes between Mick and Kat and seeing their friendship grow closer. I also enjoyed the scenes with the foul-mouthed cockatoo.

This was my first book by Melonie Johnson, so I wasn't sure what to expect from her work, overall, I liked this, but not as much as I was hoping to. Overall, this was a quick, cute read.

This was more of a 4.5 for me. I loved this book! It is a cute rom com, the characters (including the parrot and hedgehog) are so fun and witty. I loved the back and forth between Kat and Mick. I do have to say the beginning was a bit harder for me to get through but by the 3rd chapter I was hooked. I liked that this book had enough to not be the same as all other romance novels with the banter and storyline in it. Would def recommend this book to others. Thanks to St Martins Press and Netgalley for the ARC for my honest opinions

I loved the premise of the book when I read the description and was looking forward to read it .
Overall I’m really confused about it. And it kinda starts to annoy me when so many romance books tend to go for the love triangle and more so, brothers sharing the same woman.
That being said, the fresh elements of their career and the humour saved the day for me.
Did I enjoyed it ? Maybe 50-50 .
Would I recommend it? Yes but not because it was so wow , mostly because it’s a good story and one with many subplots to be discussed, especially if you read it for a book club.

Kat Kowalski is done dating assholes. After Tad, her (now ex) boyfriend, breaks up with her out of nowhere and leaves his hedgehog with her, she decided it's the last straw. No more Tads, Chads, or any man that ends with "ad".

This same day, Kat is face to face with a corpse, a blunt cockatoo, and Mick O'Sullivan. Mick is charismatic, flirty, and undeniably attractive. Having just been burned, she's determined to keep him at arms length and keep things platonic.

________________________

The beginning was hilarious, because meeting over a dead body is nothing short of chaotic and entertaining. They had some really cute character interactions. Whenever they both got out of their heads they had so much fun and you could see the chemistry between them!

I understood Kat's issues, but I think she could have been smarter about the way she wanted to be dating. It was so WEIRD and awkward because there was obvious connection and chemistry between her and Mick, but she still decided to pursue his brother. AND HE JUST LET HER?!

There were plenty of cute moments, but the whole story and romance felt very surface level and there was so much opportunity for great character development. It was satisfying enough, but I wanted a lot more.

Thank you Netgalley, Melonie Johnson, and St. Martin's Press for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

My first Melonie Johnson novel, thank you to NetGalley.

I enjoyed this read for what it was. Light, funny, nothing to be taken too seriously, but quite enjoyable.

Pros: themes carried through out, character definition was solid, lots of jokes, the setting was clearly wrote by someone who knows Chicago and it’s culture. Good word usage, things didn’t get repetitive, and I really enjoyed how they showcased one individual with a family and one without but wasn’t pivotal in their dynamic, plus the hedgehog was a cute and unique twist.

Cons: I wish Mick had discovered his own pitfalls for himself, Kat seemed to come to understand the roll she played in pushing him away. Additionally, I wish MK had told Kat about Micks insecurity about his brother, it would have helped her understand the whole thing wasn’t about her. She needed more development in that regard anyways considering that while she was a pillar in her community she was a fairly selfish friend to Mick the whole way through. Also, I would have loved to see a flash of Tad later, maybe as the host on TV and her total lack of desire to ever go back to something without substance again, because as a self proclaimed romantic she really was making bad choices.

I will definitely take the chance to read another Melonie Johnson book, the characters were given a good realness that helps you see them as relatable.

“We met over a dead body, it was definitely not a meet cute.”

This book is definitely going on my top shelf of books I've enjoyed.

I normally don't enjoy books with hints of spice, versus quite a lot of spice, but the story in this book made up for it for me.

Kat has been recently broken up with by another "-ad" (Tad, not Chad) and he so graciously decided to essentially make her adopt his pet Hedgehog, JoJo. I can't tell you how douchey this man is just simply from the first chapter.

Mick is just trying to make it by working at his families funeral home, trying to fit in to the mold of his siblings to fill any gaps he can to help out.

These two meet over a corpse, literally, in the funeral home while Kat is trying to deliver flowers from the flower shop she works at. However, Kat is looking for Mr. Right, not Mr. Kind of Right or Mr. Wrong. Mick doesn't necessarily check the boxes on Mr. Right but his brother might...

This book is a whirlwind of emotions, love, loss, and family. Adding in a little bit of spice, it makes for a great story.

Thank you to NetGalley and Melonie Johnson for this eARC. This is a willing and honest review.

I loved this book i couldn't stop reading it. I felt bad for the character in the beginning how her boyfriend just decides to leave her (Tad) so he can go on some show for hot and single to be a host. I felt bad for her how her friends told her she only attracts assholes. This book was such a page turner I couldnt stop reading to see what happens next. She was going to find a man too wrong to be right. Mick she meets from a funeral alot of funeral talk. I liked the talking parrot made me laugh.

This was a cute read thank you for letting me read it!

Romcoms are always the best.

i found kat and mick a bit frustrating at times, but i felt like the story flowed well and the other characters were enjoyable as well, especially the grandmas.

Overall it was a cute easy read, this is the first Melonie Johnson book i have read and i will definitely be reading more.

thanks to netgalley for the opportunity to read this bo

Too Wrong to be Right was a sweet book. It kept me engaged and I loved all of the characters. I especially loved the little hedgehog and how she added to the storyline.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

This was a cute, light-hearted book that is perfect for people wanting to read something light. I was rooting for both of the main characters, and thought the author made them extremely likeable. I would recommend this to others, however it didn't stick with me as much as I would like from a rom-com.

I really enjoyed this book. The beginning was a little hard to get into for me because I felt Kat was a little short sighted with her friends. Especially because she is a boss lady and successful in other aspects of her life. Once we learns a little more about Kat, it did make more sense though.

I loved all the quirky and fabulous supporting characters in this story as well. Even the pets! I am kind of hoping Melonie Johnson makes two more books about Mick’s siblings finding love.

You know a book is great when you drive past a funeral home in real life and for a split second wonder if you could find love inside!! (Haha)

This was my first Melonie Johnson book and I can say with certainty that I will continue reading her books!

A joyful, humorous love story between a woman determined to find her Mr. Right and a man who hasn’t yet figured out how to reach for what he wants out of life. Kat has a check list for her perfect match, and Mick doesn’t fit the bill. Mick has grown comfortable filling in whatever spaces the world opens up for him rather than making his own space, a trait that doesn’t mesh well with a woman who wants to be able to push against her love interest, and have him push back. With the help of a few meddling friends and family members, two delightful grandmas, and two fabulous pets, Kat rethinks her check list, and Mick reclaims his personal agency.
.
As with Too Good to be Real, Johnson speckles her story with popular rom-com references that will appeal to fans of the genre, as well as punny banter and lightly antic scenarios that test her characters while keeping the tone upbeat and smile-inducing. The hedgehog has a costume designer. The meet cute involves a casket. And supportive friends are always close by with a rom-com cued up and a new cocktail recipe to try. A perfect fit for readers looking for a brisk and buoyant love story with plenty of ha-ha’s, and no shortage of heart.

I liked the book but not as much as I was hoping I would. I think it all came down to Kat. She was not my favorite and it made it a little hard to really enjoy the book. There were a lot of things she said and did that just made me want to stop reading the book. I came close quite a few times but I adored Mike so I kept reading. I still enjoyed the book despite my dislike of Kat and I look forward to reading more from Melonie Johnson in the future.

Hmm… semi satisfied unpopular review is heating up in the oven and ready to be served in few minutes!

Honestly I could love this book a little more and I could be more patient with the unreasonable actions the main character has taken but my expectations were too high after reading the previous brilliant work of Melonie Johnson. I even passed to read the blurb of this book after seeing the author’s name and this vivid- enchanted cover! So I was expecting so much more!

My first hesitation comes with the heroine. Nope, I didn’t like Kat. I understand why she made a perfect man list after dealing with enormous heartbreak but come on: Mick O’Sullivan was great catch from the beginning even though they’ve met under mortal and casket-y circumstances! Especially some of her decisions made me scream and feel a quite itchy urge to slap her and Mike turned into a doormat even though he’s a consultant and he should easily understand her wrongful and unhealthy patterns from miles away.

It was still swoon worthy, lighthearted and enjoyable reading. But my disconnection with the heroine affected my judgment.

So I’m giving my solid three stars. I still love the author’s writing style and I hope she’ll write more tolerable characters just like she has done before. I’m still looking forward to read more books of her in near future.

Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press/ St. Martin’s Griffin for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.

Too Wrong To Be Right was a cute and quirky read! I liked Kat and Mick’s chemistry and the back and forth between them. While I enjoyed this book, I did feel like there was a lot going on at times, and it took away from the story. That being said, I thought this was a charming, and fun book that I definitely recommend reading!

I received this ARC for an honest review. This is really a 3.5 star story.
This story is about Kat and Mick. Kat is a florist and Mick is a funeral owner with his siblings. Kat has a history of dating jerks and Mick has self confidence issues with relationships because his last girlfriend dumped him for his brother.
Kat made a list of qualities that she wants in a boyfriend in hopes to find “Mr. Right”. After meeting Mick after a flower delivery, she was attracted to him, but refused to act on it because of her list. She met Mick’s brother Joe and decided to take a chance with him.
Does it work with Joe? Or does she give Mick a chance? You have to read the story to find out.
Melonie Johnson wrote a cute and funny story. Give it a chance.

This is one of my go-to authors, I know that she is always writing something that has a little humor, heat and a lot of heart.

I enjoyed the back and forth between Kat and Mick but really wish that the entire conflict with Joe was cut out. I can’t believe that Mick never stood up for what his heart really wanted until literally the very end, and even then, his sister had to step in and nudge him in the right direction.

I loved Kat’s relationship with her Babcia, and even the one that the O’Sullivan children had with their grandmother. I enjoyed seeing the grandparents having such a supportive role in this story.
