This book took me over a month to read, and that's mostly because it wasn't all that engaging. The writing itself was fine, but the plot felt drawn out, and the characters weren't super fleshed-out. It took more than half the book for the two characters to even so much as kiss, and for the majority of the story, Kat was convinced she liked the male MC's brother..... For a romance book, there didn't seem to be very much romance. Also, I thought the resolution of the main conflict at the end of the story sucked. Mick never fought for the girl - he too easily let her go and never actually went after her, which I found boring and unsatisfying.

I'm going to be honest, I tried reading this book three different times and I could not get into it. I think I had different expectations for it as a reader, and they were not met. From what I've read, it's well-written, but has a tendency to off put me a bit. I'm sorry to say this just wasn't for me.

First, I need to say that I initially got this book as an ARC, but due to a lot of illnesses and other baby-related things, I got behind. SO, I decided to use my Audible credit for this month and listen to it while I try to catch up on some other ARCs.

This book was adorable, with just the right amount of spice! With an less-than-traditional meet-cute, some very unique (and salty) animal friends and some sibling love-triangle in there, this slow burn, friends to lovers has a little bit of everything you'd want! Including lots of rom com references and some saucy Irish and Polish grandmas!

This was just okay, there were parts that I found the behavior of the FMC annoying. I wanted more for Mick for most of the book and that also made me drop a star.

This book frustrated me. I’m glad I finished it because my opinion of the first half and the second half differ (hence the thee stars). Basically the plot is that Kat is a florist with aspirations of owning her own shop. After getting dumped she runs into Mick while delivering flowers to the funeral home that his family owns. She’s determined to find “Mr. Right” but immediately puts Mick in the friend-zone. He helps her as her wingman while being obviously in love with her… you know where this is going…

Here’s my issue: Kat continued to ignore Mick and parade herself and other men in front of him while making remarks that indicated that she knew how he felt. It felt stilted and wrong in a bad way. The characters were flat and I had a hard time finishing it. Honestly, Mick was too good for Kat and got the short end of that stick. Further, when he left because she requested he leave he was racked over the coals for it. Talk about sending the wrong message to both men and women. He respected her request but apparently should have said no and not left. To a certain extent I agree, fight for someone you love but also it’s important that you don’t disregard their boundaries. What kind of message is the author trying to send? All in all, I’m very mixed on this book.

This book tells the story of Kat who after being dumped by her boyfriend (that gave me Shayne from Love is Blind vibes) in the middle of the street, decides to make a list of "the perfect man". Fate had other plans. Enter Mick, who is the opposite of what is written on her list but their connection is almost instant but they decide that a friendship is all they can have. But their connection is so strong that ignoring it becomes very difficult as they spend more time together.

With that said, even though the book is very funny (like, laugh out loud funny), with a great premise and one of my favorite tropes, I didn't really enjoy most of it. Kat was really annoying and very immature and that made me lose interest in the story. However I did enjoy the interactions with Mick's family and Kat's coworkers and their various talents.

Okay this had me in the first half. More than the first half; it went downhill for me around the 80% mark. I hate to start off a review like that, but I was so disappointed with how this turned out. Which is a true bummer because I was really enjoying the slow burn up until then.

I remember liking Kat from the first book in this series Too Good to Be Real. She's a hopeless romantic whose made some poor choices in dating but just wants real, lasting love — and I get it! I totally do. She goes on to create a list that will lead to her Mr. Right, which is an endeavor that never ends well. She attempts to pursue someone who is obviously wrong for her. Meanwhile, Mick, who is the better match, is hanging around the sidelines trying his best to maintain a platonic friendship with her.

Kat and Mick developed a fun friendship. The slow burn was a lot of fun, and I felt their tension pretty early on. There was plenty of good pining and denial of feelings on both ends. It was almost laughable how in denial they were. Mick's family was great, and for some reason a family-run funeral business is interesting reading material. The brother dynamic was so odd to me. Even though their backstory was explained, I just didn't understand why his brother seemed to hold such contempt for him.

Mick was so likeable and fun natured. Kat was too, and they really had great chemistry. But at the first sign of trouble in their new relationship, Kat's insecurities jumped out in a fight-or-flight response sort of way, and she both ran away and pushed Mick away. And he let her. To go from clicking with the story the whole way to suddenly not being able to stand the characters made their reconciliation and HEA unsatisfying.

Also, I missed the female friendships from the first book. Throughout the story, Kat felt like her friends were moving forward in their relationships and leaving her behind, and I felt that too! They were hardly present here and felt like there were such long stretches of time before either of them were mentioned. Bummed me out.

My Thoughts: I believe this is part of a series, but could not find the information on Goodreads. I typically love Johnson’s writing. This one just fell a little off with the heroine, I wanted more from her. While I can appreciate the “need” to fall in love with the “right” person, she lost so much time putting Mick in the friends zone.

The push and pull between our MCs and the third wheel added in made for an interesting tale, but I would of liked more focus on the MCs and not the third wheel. Kat is independent but fearful of losing her career and her friends. I really struggled with Kat, while I know romance novels have ups and downs, I just felt like more time could of been focused on the relationship and not the list of the perfect man. I adored Mick’s character, he was loyal, smart, and handsome. The characters were developed well with the caveat of the “list,” had witty banter, and amazing chemistry. The author’s writing style was humorous, engaging, and paced well.

Overall, I did enjoy this story and would definitely read more by Johnson. I would recommend giving it a try as Johnson is a talented writer.

I liked the dynamic with the main character, Kat, and Mick. There was a lot of funny parts. I also liked the family dynamics between MK, Mick, and Joe.

Too Wrong to be Right was a fun read! If you like strangers to lovers this one is a nice choice. It honestly took me awhile to get around to writing this review because I was going back and forth between 3 or 4 stars. Kat and Mick have some really great moments but I found myself rooting for Mick as a human being more that I cared about if Kat and Mick ended up together. I loved the side characters in this book! They really added to the story and made it a more rich story.

Too Wrong to Be Right is a solid read for fans of rom-com movies from the early 2000s. The plot unfold in an almost cinematic fashion, which makes it all the more entertaining for readers. Kudos to Melonie Johnson for crafting a truly unique setup - I never thought I would be reading a romance where the romantic leads meet at a funeral home - and a solid cast of secondary characters.

I look forward to seeing what Melonie Johnson writes next.

The storyline in this one was unique, and I enjoyed the family dynamics and the strong friendships. If you enjoy laugh-out-loud romantic comedies that hit all the emotions, this fast and fun book is definitely for you.

I read Melonie Johnson’s “Too Wrong to be Right” during a time I needed some feels; it touched my heart and it touched my funny bone. Don’t let the cute illustrated cover fool you; it is a romance that is both steamy and Hallmark-y and I'm here for it all.

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing these two try their hardest to deny their chemistry. I also loved seeing their family and friends help them figure things out. (Mick’s Irish family is a hoot.) I hope we’ll see more of them in the next book.

I highly recommend this romcom that gave me all the feels.

After getting dumped by her boyfriend and gaining a pet in the process, Kat decides to swear off dating or at least following for the men she typically goes for. She wants a lasting relationship, like the relationships that both of her best friends are in. She set on this new perspective on dating until she has a run-in with Mick at a funeral home.

Overall, I I thought the writing was really good but I wasn't fully #teamKat. I think it stemmed from how she treated Mick for most of the book. He was so into her, that he even stepped aside when his brother fit Kat's "ideal check list." I felt like there was more groveling on Mick's side, when Kat was the one who was more in the wrong.

I loved all the side characters and her adorable hedgehog! It was a quick read, that had a lot of really funny laugh-out-loud moments.

I loved the characters in this book. While Kat is a bit dysfunctional, she is relatable. Her ambition is one of her best qualities and she manages to focus on her dreams while still trying to navigate her love life.

Mick is the perfect book boyfriend. I love that he was the one that was lusting after (loving?) Kat right from the start. But he listened to her and respected her wishes in the love department even when I was screaming at him to not!

The families and friends of both of the characters were fun and funny! It was so heartwarming to read how they all interacted.

I was very sad to leave the characters and story behind when I was done. THAT is a sign of a fantastic book!

Kat is done with men that are bad for her after her boyfriend drops off his hedgehog and tells her he’s off to film for weeks in Canada and dumps her. She makes a delivery for the flower shop where she works to a funeral home where she almost passes out and meet Mick. Mick is exactly the kind of guy she’s trying to avoid because of the instant attraction.

This sets the premise for a quick paced romance with a host of funny characters who are all on Kat’s side as she tries to fall in love with the brother of the man she is attracted to. Mick has agreed to help her and be her “wingman” and friend for this. I found this to be a good quick and enjoyable read.

Cute story with some funny moments! However Kat wasn’t my favorite FMC. It felt like she was always comparing herself to her friends and didn’t seem happy for their successes. I also didn’t like the way she treated Mick - especially towards the end of the book. Mick was respecting Kat’s wishes but she still blamed him for everything. I feel like she should have had to make a gesture to Mick to apologize for the way she treated him. Also, I’m confused as to how Mick was to know about the wedding date without MK telling him.

I liked the pet sidekicks and their cute, little moments.
