Wow, what an action packed story! At the beginning, it was hard to figure out what the Minerva guys were up to but little by little, Reacher kept investigating until the full story came out. There were things that didn't seem to fit together until the pieces were in the right spot.

There were several stories happening at the same time as we watch Reacher and Hannah investigate the two murders that they knew about, the Minerva bad guys, Jed, the foster kid, trying to get to the prison, and finally, Emerson who is out to revenge his son's death.

They all are slowly working their way to the prison for different reasons then the fireworks start. Minerva people think that manpower is going to keep Reacher from the prison but you know that won't happen. It was so fun to watch as Jack outplayed these henchmen and almost met his match with Harold, Minerva's giant henchman.

Part of what the prison revealed was not surprising when Reacher and Anton went into C Block, I kind of figured that out but when the money making scheme that tied with Emerson and his son's death - that was a total shock! I did not see that coming at all.

Only wish there was a bit more at the end - but then Reacher was done and ready to move on so he is on to the next adventure.

No Plan B by Andrew Child, Lee Child is a Reacher novel. No more really needs to be said. Reacher sees a woman get pushed under a bus. When he follows the man that did the pushing he runs into several men intent on hurting him. Needless to say, that doesn’t happen. When he makes his way back to the accident, he speaks to the detective who is sympathetic but has several witnesses who say something different. Reacher, being Reacher, decides he has to investigate and in so doing her opens up a can of worms that reveals some shocking crimes, on the parts of several groups of players. Almost single-handedly he brings them to justice.

Reacher is the tall, silent type. He rarely works with someone else, although he did this time. Appears to be platonic. She is the ex-wife of one of those murdered to cover up this series of crimes, which are all about covering up a larger one. She has a truck: her murdered ex-husband’s and that is very handy so Reacher lets her help. This was a clever crime that had been playing out for a while. Reacher managed to put it all together and figure out a way to stop it and get rid of the bad guys. Reacher is great in that he rarely kills anyone, although he does pound on them sometimes. This was a terrific book. Love Reacher!

I'm a Reacher fan from way back. A Lee Child Reacher book is a guaranteed escape that doesn't require too much time or investment. While Child's collaboration with his brother has added the extra dimension of multiple storylines, we still pretty much have a Reacher book: really bad bad guys, somewhat good good guys, a truly nefarious plan and lots of physical damage. I did enjoy being surprised by the nefarious plan this time. Listen, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley.

I have read many of Lee Child's Jack Reacher books and have enjoyed them. While this episode is very good, the plot and Reacher's actions are becoming repetitive.

I look forward to the next Reacher book but hope that the author freshens up the storyline and dialogue.

Latest in the series. A more complex plot than recent books but all ties together neatly in a somewhat surprising ending. As always, ingenious methods of solving the problem aBc catching the bad guys.

No Plan B is my first Lee Child novel. I have been meaning to read one since watching the new Reacher TV series, and I was not disappointed. No Plan B was full of Jack Reacher kicking butt and righting wrongs. I loved how it was exactly what I was expecting. Yes, a little formulaic, but sometimes that is the comfort read one wants. I give No Plan B 4/5 stars since I was thoroughly entertained.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of No Plan B by Lee Child, Andrew Child. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group for this ARC.

I am a huge Jack Reacher fan and No Plan B doesn't disappoint In Gerrardsville, Colorado, two witnesses to the same tragedy give two different accounts. One guy sees a woman throw herself in front of a bus in what appears to be a suicide. The other witness is Jack Reacher. He sees what actually happened: A man pushed the victim to her death, before grabbing the dead woman’s purse and leaving. Reacher follows the killer on foot, not knowing that he is part of a secret conspiracy with many moving parts There are powerful people on the take and Reacher is a threat to their enterprise. Great book!

Jack Reacher is in a small town in Colorado when he witnesses a woman fall under a bus and die. But his background as an MP gives him an eye for small details and he sees that her death was not an accident. He realizes the authorities have closed their investigation as it is easier to rule her death a suicide and move on so he gets involved. He teams up with Hannah, whose ex-husband has also been murdered. Hannah has some skills of her own and the two of them head out to a small Mississippi town where a national prison company is headquartered. And, of course, this is where Reacher must use all his physical and mental skills to stay alive and figure out what is going on. There are also a couple of subplots which don’t seem to make much sense until deep into the book. This is the 27th book in the Jack Reacher series and the third written by brothers Lee and Andrew Child. And no offense to Jack Reacher fans but right now the series is getting a little tired. Reacher continues to kick, punch, and occasionally shoot his way through one difficult situation after another. I have been an avid reader of the series from the very beginning but something is now missing, or maybe it’s too much “more of the same” in each book. My thanks to Delacorte Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review the ARC of this book.

I am not sure why I keep reading these books. They are all the same, although this one attempts to go all fancy by following multiple characters, not just Reacher. There are the bad guys who run a private prison system that has something to hide, a teenaged runaway looking for his father and an arsonist looking for revenge. Of course all of these threads converge at the end of the book where Reacher saves the day. In addition to the sameness of these books, I have come to find Reacher’s lack of any personality or charisma tiresome. No one could stand 10 minutes in his company, yet women always fall into bed with him. And then there are the numerous fight scenes in which Reacher gets to smash faces and crush bones. The book is fine if you know what to expect and aren’t looking for anything surprising. It held my interest, mostly because I liked the teenager and I wanted to find out what the prison was up to. 3.5 stars

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher.

The latest installment in the Jack Reacher series is a paint-by-numbers Jack Reacher book, through and through. If you've read any of these books before, you know the drill: Reacher, a drifter, rolls into town and witnesses a murder, teams up with a local, pursues the bad guys, lots of the bad guys get punched, stomped, crushed, and a mystery gets slowly unwound. Nothing new here... but so what? That's the charm of the series. You know what you're getting into when you read one of these. And this one is pretty standard fare, with a good pace, interesting characters, and lots of the fun, pulpy Reacher action you'd come to expect from these stories. I loved the heck out of it!

NO PLAN B by Lee CHILD and Andrew CHILD

Your next guilty pleasure has arrived. The voice of our beloved iconic hero, Jack Reacher, lives on in another action packed suspenseful thriller penned by Andrew Child ( with an unidentified extent of help by Lee Child). In this 27th novel in the series, Reacher’s inimitable style of conflict resolution with action and violence in support of the challenged victim shines on with mystery and intrigue. This can be devoured as a stand-alone, as the necessary backstory is seamlessly laid in. Reacher in his typical nomadic style, is traveling by bus and hitchhiking and arrives in the small town of Gerrardsville, Colorado to visit a Civll War museum.
Reacher witnesses a woman being pushed in front of a bus by a furtive man in a grey hoodie, and then snaking his hand under her crushed body to retrieve her purse. Reacher pursues the man into an alley, confronts him in his usual unabashed manner, easily takes his gun away, spins him around and forcefully pushes him into the adjacent alley wall with resultant broken nose and freely flowing blood from multiple gashes. An accomplice intervenes, allowing both to escape, as Reacher has an unfortunate encounter with a collapsing fire escape. As Reacher returns to the scene of the crime, he learns from a detective that the women’s death is considered a suicide based upon other witnesses statements. Reacher was able to retrieve the woman’s purse in the alley, and checked out the contents… hoping to found out why she was killed. He found a driver’s license for Angela St. Vrain with an address in Winson, Mississippi…. a black and white photo of Angela with a little girl (perhaps three years old) …a laminated card on a blue lanyard identifying her as an employee of the Minerva Correctional Facility in Winson … and a letter size envelope addressed to Danny Peel containing a photograph/ mug shot of a young man ( noteworthy was a missing left earlobe and a scar across his neck) and some papers outlining the life story of one, Anton Begovic, escalating from petty theft at age eighteen and other offenses resulting in incarceration, and an eventual appeal and the judges order to release Begovic…this coming Friday. This declaration of a suicide does not sit well with Reacher. He knows what he saw and begins his own investigation. He quickly uncovers a connection of Angela with a local man, Sam Roth, who somewhat improbably died of a heart attack shortly before her arrival. Sam’s ex-wife Hannah Hampton is able to shed further light on the unlikely coincidences, and soon both embark on a road-trip to Winson to further investigate the mystery behind these injustices. Reacher cannot help but apply his unique investigative skills to right the wrong, that apparently evades the local law enforcement agencies.
The Child team proves to be master storytellers as they weave into the narrative two other sub-plots that move parallel to the main plot until they all collide and coalesce into an unexpected and explosive denouement. We learn about fifteen year old Jed, while living with foster parents, learns that his birth mother is dying of stage four pancreatic cancer and on her death bed finally tells him the truth about his father. Suddenly he departs from Los Angeles, intent on making a long journey that will necessitate many Greyhound buses. At the same time
Lev Emerson, who specializes in making accidents happen, to solve other people’s problems. Learns his twenty-two year old son has died, while in rehab ….. his liver and other body organs have failed. His next mission is that of revenge… for those he holds responsible.
There is obviously something sinister behind the machinations of those running the Minerva Correctional Facility …. How is it related to the release of an innocent man? How will Jed and Lev eventually find themselves in Winson, Mississippi? I certainly enjoyed the ingenuity how the many moving parts of this narrative explosively collided to form an enjoyable denouement.
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing for providing an Uncorrected Proof in exchange for an honest review.

I love the Jack Reacher books and they rarely disappoint. This one is no exception. I wouldn't call this the best book in the Jack Reacher series but it is certainly a worthwhile addition. A quick, enjoyable read. Strongly recommended

Review copy was received from Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I have really enjoyed reading all the Jack Reacher series, including novellas. Jack Reacher started out wandering when he was maybe mid-thirties, and as the books went along he aged. Then, the books seemed to go back in time and cover times when he was in the military or freshly a civilian. I'm uncertain as to his age in No Plan B. I would read the earlier books in order but later books could be read standalone.

Reacher is traveling with no specific plans. He sees a woman who is tripped, so she falls under a bus and dies. He sees someone who steals her purse and chases after them. He gets the purse briefly before goons start fighting him. This event starts his investigation into the woman and why she was killed. The detective on the case is a smart guy but gets pressure to close the case when there is a suicide note and a fake purse turns up. Not the purse Reacher saw.

Reacher is really an amazing strategist with excellent observations skills, highly trained in fighting, physics, and some human nature as well. There were some other threads in the plot here with a young boy leaving his inadequate foster home when his dad is being released from prison, a man who has lost his son, another prison guard who is an old co-worker of the women killed being murdered too. While things may seem unimportant or unrelated everything weaves into a full picture. The bad guys are all after him and he thwarts them every time.

Reacher is in some bad spots but handles himself brilliantly. I'm a bit worried at times when he just disposes of the bad guys, not concerned if they die. Yet Reacher has such compassion for the innocent and abused; he goes out of his way to help them and improve their lives. Reacher has incredible strategies to take down all the villains and it's exciting!

Jack reacher witnesses a murder made to look like a suicide in Jarrell bill Oregon a Foster kid name Jeb in Los Angeles finds out his dad is being released from prison, a man in Chicago wants revenge for the death of his son Kyle and the two guys that run the Minerva prison in Winfrey Mississippi or getting ready fare a big celebration but little do they all know with the exception of jack reacher of course, they are all on a trajectory and will meet up and some will be tragic but all will be just. Lee Child’s has done it again with Jack reacher he has written over 2 dozen books and I have yet to be tired of this man who kicks ass and takes names and whatever cash they have on their person. Mr. Childs is a master at many different moving parts that all come together like puzzle pieces fitting into place in the end. This is another brilliant book by a brilliant author. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it I have loved Jack reacher since book 1 and don’t see that stopping anytime soon. I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

No Plan B is another great installment in the Jack Reacher series! Reacher once again gets wrapped up into a situation that he cannot walk away from when he arrives in Colorado. A woman is pushed in front of a bus and dies which is then ruled a suicide. However, Reacher knows the truth and he will not stop until he makes the people responsible pay. Andrew Child has filled his brother’s shoes well in taking over the series and I highly recommend readers check out the next Jack Reacher book as soon as they can. I promise, you will not be disappointed.

Andrew Child delivers another action-packed, unputdownable Jack Reacher story. I enjoy this series and can always depend on a constant in the theme and pace which is what I want when I pickup a Reacher story.

A woman "falls" in front of a moving bus and is instantly killed. A few eyewitnesses believe they say her deliberately jump. However, Jack Reacher was watching from a different viewpoint and saw a man push her to her death. He tries to run after the man but loses him in the crowd. This is how he gets involved in a looong and, frankly, a little boring conspiracy involving a prison in Mississippi.

While I did enjoy Reacher in action again, the books are just not up to the same level of interest since Lee Chiild added another author to them; I have made it a point to buy every book up until maybe two years ago, but I don't have much desire, anymore. Sad!
