Thank you, Laura Godwin Books, for allowing me to read Afterlove early!

Tanya Byrne's book was a breath of fresh air for the young adult fantasy genre. It was innovative and very memorable.

Got an eArc on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I actually enjoyed reading this. It's an easy read and the way the author writes was amazing. The writing is different from other authors that it made me feel like I'm back reading a book from authors in the past. It's predictable for me but enjoyable and that's what made me hook from start to finish. I was so invested that I didn't sleep on my flight 😂

I wasn’t a fan of this book. I felt like the characters weren’t fully fleshed out and didn’t truly have personality. There was also a ton of suicidal ideation to the point where it was excessive. I think a proper trigger warning in the beginning of the book would benefit readers. This book just felt empty. I read a bunch of words but left feeling as if it were a blank book.

I have been waiting for this book for ages, and it did not disappoint! Take the TV show Dead Like Me but make it YA and Sapphic, and that's this book. It's a funny and heartbreaking story of death and after that exceeded all my expectations.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an Advanced Reader Copy.

This exceeded every expectation I had set. I mean, I started reading and didn't stop until the acknowledgements. Afterlove is the perfect blend of moments that were absolutely heartbreaking and moments that were incredibly sweet that had me grinning to myself like an idiot. I fell in love with Ash and Poppy immediately. The entire cast of characters is amazing and I couldn't have asked for a better reading experience.

I was excited for this premise but I struggled to get into this. It took a while to get to when Ash becomes the reaper. I understand the importance of building up her and Poppy’s relationship but I think I would’ve liked it more if it had done flashbacks to that instead of like the first 40% background.
