After their father's death, Henrie returns to the island where she and her sister BB grew up. The island wants Henrie, and everyone has secrets about what is really going on. This was a strange one. I think I liked it?

This is an extremely well-written, weird story told from the viewpoints of four women. It was more of a character-driven story than I expected, not as much a suspenseful, eerie mystery.

Phenomenal, delicious writing, and the storytelling was just gorgeous and so smart. I'm stunned by this book and will immediately look to the author's backlog.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of The Insatiable Volt Sisters.

The premise was intriguing so I was excited my request was approved.

Sadly, this wasn't what I expected.

The writing is great, but the narrative is not suspenseful or scary.

The constant flashbacks and POV shifts was distracting and hard to follow.

The story dragged, and I didn't connect or care about the characters or the island or what was happening, which wasn't much.

I was under the mistaken impression the story was going to be scary or mysterious, but it's really character driven, bogged down by a family's dark past and characters I didn't care for, with great writing but read as filler.

A genre that normally doesn't speak to me, totally grabbed me in this ARC. A haunted house, death, strong female characters - sounds like you know what's going to happen: think again. Definitely recommend this to those who like ghosts and fantasy.

Two strong in their own way sisters, an island that's their legacy and a whole heap of weirdness - which just increases as you go along. The novel flashes back and forward in time between the 14th and 24th year of the younger sister, shows the strength of love, protecting those you love from the mundane and the past.

Unfortunately I did not enjoy this book. The jumping back and forth in time was confusing and there were too many characters.

A great novel that touches on historical trauma, the things that linger in our minds, and what we do to protect ourselves from what we don't want to remember.

Thanks for the ARC! This was a really weird book. I absolutely loved it but you have to be prepared for a lot of weirdness. It gets weirder and weirder as it goes.
The characters were well developed. They had flaws that were relatable. The house was the prefect creepy setting. The Island felt real too.
I would definately recommend this to a friend.

The Insatiable Volt Sisters by Rachel Eve Moulton
I was entertained and enjoyed this story from front to back.
Told from the lens of four interesting women. The characters pulled me into their world an kept me hooked!
I found this to be rich, engrossing and compelling.
If you enjoyed Rachel 's first novel you'll enjoy TIVS.

This was a beautifully done story, I was so invested in what was going on and thought this book was beautifully done. Rachel Eve Moulton has a wonderful writing style and she's able to build a great story. I enjoyed the way the characters were portrayed and felt like real people. I can't wait to read more more from the author as I enjoyed this a lot.

“Breathe. In and out. In four. Out four.” B.B. counts for me. I don’t want it to work. I want to keep the panic until I run out of air. If I died, I would never have to leave. They’d dig me a big old island hole and sink me deep with a rock on my chest, then, when B.B. died, they could drop her down right on top of me with another rock on top to keep us both floating down there in the warmth of the island."
