Me and my children enjoyed this story with all the animal's characters within. It was about a croc that didn't want to share his water hole. He was not nice to any of the animals that came close.

This was a fun story to read. It had action throughout. It had a few giggles within. The story had a good meaning throughout. The illustrations want well with the story and were colorful.

This is a cute book about sharing and what it means to be a kind friend or acquaintance to the people around you.

I’m not sure which I like more the story, or the illustrations. Both are so much fun, and I want to add these to my personal permanent collection. The sing song rhymes in this book are about a giant croc sitting on his log who chases everybody away. Come to find out that when he has the river all to himself it’s boring and he misses his friends. This is one of those croc books that you find yourself talking about repeatedly. This get out of my River. It very much reminds me of “I’d Really Like to Eat a Child”.

What a fun rhyming book! THe illustrations are perfect, and the moral of the story is a good one. I think this will be a good read a loud as kids can join in with yelling :Get out of my river!"

This book is about a grumpy crocodile who finds that being selfish leads to loneliness. The book was a bit abrupt for me although overall it's funny and has vibrant illustrations.

This delightfully illustrated children's book has great repetitive rhymes that will capture the attention of young readers and quickly get them interacting with the story. As a teacher, I thoroughly enjoy stories that have simple repetitions and rhythms, and this story did not disappoint.

The one thing I didn't love is that the croc is mean to all the animals but then later calls them his friends. With young children learning what friendship is, I wish there was something early in the story that shows these animals and the croc know each other. However, I really enjoyed the message at the end of the story that it's better to share with your friends than keep everything to yourself and be lonely. I also really like that the croc throws a temper tantrum and doesn't enjoy the result of his actions. This is another great illustration/lesson for little ones.

Overall, this story, and its beautifully executed illustrations, are sure to excite young readers.

The story was easy to follow and it was fun to read with my daughter and it was lovely

She has recently learnt to read in Reception at school so it was great that we could read it together

With it being a little repetitive it made it more fun as she knew what was coming next too

The illustrations are lovely and they really bring the story to life

It is five stars from me for this one – very highly recommended!

This is the perfect book to keep your child captivated, with both its vivid blues and greens and its array of wild, jungle type characters. In addition, the rhymes are witty, sharp, and easy to remember and read, in a way that is playful and fun for the little ones. The best part of this one is the overall message of the importance of sharing, and friendship and community. All the rivers (or toys) in the world are not fun when you have no one to share them with.

This is a great rhyming book that teaches a valuable lesson. As I was reading through the story, I could easily imagine a classroom of kindergarteners yelling along with Croc.

"GET OUT OF MY RIVER!"

yelled the croc on the rock.

"I'll eat you for my tea."

Croc On A Rock is a fun story about a grumpy crocodile that wants to sunbathe on his rock and doesn't want to share his river. He's being selfish and bullies his friends into leaving. It doesn't take long for Croc to realize he's lonely without his friends. He apologizes. Now everyone can enjoy swimming in the river together. I love the gorgeous illustrations. They're very expressive. The underwater scenes are really neat. The text is clear and easy to read. I definitely understand why this book is popular and being released.

Croc on the Rock by Marion Clark and Tanya Fenton is a fun take on many classic fables. By constantly being unwelcoming, and one-upping every animal that comes to his river, Croc soon finds himself incredibly alone, and realizes that being the best isn’t that fun when there is no one around to share the time with.

Well illustrated, and simple enough for school age readers to read on their own, this was a fun read with a great moral.

Practically ten years old, this was a nice book and deserved to be picked up for a new edition. A well-sustained narrative verse rhythm bounces us through the story of the croc on the rock, scaring off all the animals from the river he claims as his property and his alone, until he misses them – not because they were his prey but because they were more friendly than he had remembered. Sometimes the illustrations do struggle with posing an irate crocodile, but who wouldn’t?! Strong stuff, and four stars plus for the brightly-delivered moral.

This is a great rhyming book with a wonderful important life lesson to be learned. The illustrations are beautiful and draw the reader into the story. The book teaches the value of sharing with those around you and not being selfish and driving others away so you can be the sole occupant and owner of something.

In this book a crotchety croc loves just basking in the sun on his rock and is mean to the other animals who want to come and enjoy the river too. A hippo, a tiger, an elephant, and a variety of other animals are confronted by this aggressive bully with the words:

"GET OUT OF MY RIVER!"
yelled the croc on the rock.
"I'll eat you for my tea."

"GET OUT OF MY RIVER!
yelled the croc on the rock.
"It's only meant for me!"

Oh my! How brazen and rude and scary that old croc is!

All the animals run away as quickly as they can leaving the croc to swim, nap and laze around in the sun all alone. The next morning he awakens and there is dead silence...no movement or sounds anywhere. Did this make croc happy now or does he realize how selfish he has been and that he truly does miss the other animals as they splashed and have great fun in the river too? He discovers being alone is no fun at all and sharing makes everyone happy including himself!

I love the book and kids will delight it in it too. It definitely is a winner!

You'd think a cranky croc would be content with a nice warm rock, but, oh, NO, this guy wants the whole river to himself. Sometimes, however, getting what you want is not all that you hoped it would be. A cute lesson in the joys of sharing.

This hilarious rhyming picture book tells the story of a crocodile who gets very upset when other animals enjoy “his” river. He yells and tells them to leave until everyone does and he realizes how lonely he is. The expressive text and large bold capital letters help readers emphasize the crocodile’s tantrums, and the hilarious illustrations of a crocodile splashing around angrily in the water add to the fun of the story. I can see this being a fun book for read aloud or shared reading experiences. As a grade 3 teacher, I would recommend this book to parents of children in the age 4-8 range. Great story about why sharing and good attitude are important to have. The images are cute and bright as is the story.

Croc does not like to share. He loves lazily lounging on his rock all day and snaps at anyone who comes near. He wants the river all to himself believing if he scares everyone away he will get his wish. As he watches all the other animals having fun in the river he discovers that maybe sharing would be more fun. Readers will love this rhyming book with vivid illustrations.

What a grumpy croc, who sits on his rock, chasing everyone out of HIS river! He stomps and shouts and succeeds in driving them all away, but then finds...it's awfully quiet with no one around. Has he made a mistake?

This is a wonderfully relatable book for preschool kids and gets its message across with fun and good humor. Young readers will love the repeated refrains and the lively text will make this a fantastic read-aloud book for storytime. There are plenty of animals for kids to enjoy and the illustrations are engaging and full of fun details. This would be a fantastic addition to school, classroom, and community libraries for kids 3-6!

This beautifully illustrated book teaches children the value of sharing - the crocodile wants the river to himself, until he realizes that he's lonely because he's driven everyone away through his selfishness. Some of the rhyming text was a bit forced, but the repeated exclamation of the selfish croc is a great counterpoint to emphasize selfishness and sharing. And I loved the broad diversity of animals that were shown sharing the river at the end of the book.
