I LOVE this book! It's so cute and the photographs are adorable! Every kid is obsessed with poop books for some reason and my library will definitely be purchasing this.

Going Places by Jody Hildreth is a cute picturebook for all ages. Do astronauts use the bathroom? What about Santa Claus? Can you go while on the go? Everyone's got to go to the bathroom. That's a fact of life! Readers will join whimsical acorn characters in hilarious scenarios in which people have to find a bathroom while out and about. With rollicking rhyme and plenty of humor, this story is sure to make young readers laugh out loud.

Going Places is exactly what you might expect from the cover. Cute acorn figures in a variety of places needing to 'go'. The text is cute and easily understood, and the images of the acorn figures are well staged and enteraining. I think this is an all around fun book that readers of all ages can enjoy.

This is a cute book with photographs as illustrations and focuses on the theme of everyone needing to go to the bathroom at times. The photographs are made up of acorns and other natural items placed together to form people or animal shapes, usually on a toilet. There is creative font and expressive text throughout the story, with 1-2 lines per page of simple writing. The premise of the story is fun and silly. I would recommend this book for bathroom humour-loving kids. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this book

This was a short sweet book about pooping. Ok I’m not sure sweet is the correct word but you get what I’m saying.

The acorn people were so cool. What a creative way to tell a story. The acorn people were so charming.

Okay, so, yes. A little juvenile. A bit too brief. But my kid asked me to read it a second time, and tried for a third before I said it was long past bedtime. And if my kid asks for a repeat, I automatically raise a star.

Acorn creatures going to the bathroom in the great outdoors. What's not to like, for a kid? A little bit of silliness, a bit of crudeness, all things they love. And I've no problem with that in a picture book, but this one feels a bit...flat. It's short, but I could SWEAR that some of the artwork repeats. Small "cast" of creatures, few backgrounds. I'd have loved it if Hildreth made more creatures with different plant materials, instead of just about only acorns. And while the backgrounds of sweeping natural vistas are pretty, there's not a lot of variety in them. More seasons or more locations would have been nice. Those two together I think would have amped this book up one more star.

See the cover. That’s an acorn man sitting on an acorn toilet, y’all! This cover gives you a great idea of the thematic style of the book. Every page has a striking photo in a gorgeous natural location, and every photo has an acorn person doing their business on an acorn loo. (I am not kidding!) There is a simple two-line verse on every page about visiting Dr. John. *wink wink* Most of these are hilarious. Sample this: “Enjoy the view, no need to rush. When finished, don’t forget to flush.” 😂

The photos are stunning – almost every locale made me feel like going there, not on the potty though. The acorn people are adorable and so well-crafted! The verses range from okay to hilarious. The only one I hated outright was the one about the astronaut. It was funny but totally inaccurate - kids will get a wrong idea of how astronauts use the facilities in outer space.

I did laugh my way through some of those pages, but I am stumped about whom to recommend this to. I guess if you are looking for a whimsical book filled with clean toilet humour, this would work. Kids might get a guffaw out of this as they enjoy such nonsensical books more.

I really don’t know what to rate this! Hence going for the midway mark – it was fun but with a limited appeal.

My six year old daughter loved this and thought the pictures were hilarious! Such a fun way to make sure kids know that going to the bathroom isn’t scary and everyone does it!
