Overall, I enjoyed this! I felt that the story was a bit "forgettable" in some aspects, but I would recommend this to a romance reader. I enjoyed the relationship between Lana and Seth, even if second-chance romance isn't always my favorite trope.

This was my first read by Falon Ballard and it was such a fun one! I’ll definitely be picking up other book soon.

This book had a “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” vibe to it where Lana works as a journalist and is given the task to stay single, since she’s typically a serial monogamist. But that’s not the kicker. Because her ex – the real “one that got away” and rejected her again at their reunion, shows up at her job and is given the opposite task: he has to prepare himself to settle down, since he typically serial dates – at least according to the tabloids.

Each person is given a set of tasks, and none of this feels realistic for a work environment, but Ballard broaches that topic well considering that sometimes people pleasers don’t recognize when other people blur the lines of a relationship, which is definitely true.

I loved the easiness Seth and Lana had together – even when they were bickering. I loved the past they shared and the growth each character seems to go through. This was a quick, easy, and all-around fun read – and I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a cute second-chance romance.

Tropes:
- Second chance romance
- Friends to lovers to enemies to friends to lovers 😂
- Workplace romance
- It’s always been you vibes

I love an enemies to friends to lovers storyline but felt that this one could've been better. The writing felt more like fanfiction and it took me out of reading it. I love reading about writers but was frustrated at the lack of character growth.

Short synopsis: When Lana is dumped by her boyfriend on the night she thinks she’s getting engaged, and her ex Seth shows up as a new employee at her office, a friendly competition of self discovery is announced.

My thoughts: This was such a strong second book by Falon! I liked the personal growth Lana went through as she learned to love herself.

There were definitely some laugh out loud moments. I’m always a fan of friend groups, and Lana’s was so supportive and endearing! Everyone needs friends willing to drop everything and be there when you need them!

That ending was so sweet in the epilogue, you’ll just have to read it to find out!

- Childhood Friends to high school sweethearts, to enemies, to ???
- Self acceptance
- Workplace competition
- Banter and laugh out loud moments
- Sunflowers

4 stars!

I thought this was a pretty fun romance with great Marvel references. I loved the banter, I loved both characters, and I loved the rivals to lovers second chance trope. I'm starting to move away from contemporary romance and still found this very fun and engaging!

Lana has gotten into the pattern of forming her life around the current guy she is dating, putting their needs first before her own. When her ex Seth unexpectedly becomes Lana’s new coworker her boss Natasha comes up with an idea. Lana and Seth both write a relationship column each week and whoever gets the most engagement on the website is in line for a promotion. Seth must ready himself to be in a serious relationship while Lana must live her best single life. The tasks Lana and Seth set for each other are comedic but dig deep to find out what they truly need in a partner, and themselves.

I loved the setting and the characters. I appreciated how supportive Lana’s coworkers were and how therapy was part of both Seth and Lana’s assignment. This book touches on relevant topics in a fun way!

Just My Type by Falon Ballard is a great second chance romance, something I do not always connect with. Lana and Seth are two people who are now enemies even though they were together in highschool. I know many might not connect to this story because many are not still hung up on thier ex from 12 years ago, but I connected because I've been there. Seth was not a character that I really loved fully but I think it is because he does resemble too many men that I have had dates with. It was also very full of social quotes from movies and tv that for me was too many. Kind took me out of the story. For me Lana's character need more depth, due to this being a single POV, which I love. Her inner monologue need more feeling and details because her perspective is the only side we see. Overall a cute story, one I would recomend to those who love a second chance romance.

"Just My Type" by Falon Ballard is like the rom-com we've all been waiting for! Lana Parker, the relationship expert, suddenly finds herself single at thirty, determined to embrace the single life. Enter her high school ex, Seth Carson, now a journalist and colleague, making things hilariously complicated. The banter between Lana and Seth as they compete in a dating-type challenge is pure gold. The book weaves heartwarming moments with laugh-out-loud humor, keeping you hooked on their love-and-career rollercoaster. Ballard nails the perfect blend of charm and entertainment, making "Just My Type" a must-read for anyone craving a fun and feel-good romantic adventure.

Don't you know when two exes see each other again even though they haven't seen each other for so long but yet they have undeniable chemistry? Yup, that's Lana and Seth. And it doesn't get any better when they are both competing for the column. That just ample ups the games and sparks between them. You can already tell that they are going to ended up with each other no matter how much they try denying it.

Lana was such an amazing and relatable character which made this even more of a fantastic read! All of the characters were so fun and I love all of the nerdy references throughout! My absolute favorite part of this book was how Lana embraces the idea of being single. So many books start with the idea of how the main character can grow by being single but by the end it ultimately goes back to the idea that she needs to be in a relationship to be happy or whole and I love that Lana never needed a relationship to feel this way but was able to find happiness and fulfillment on her own.

I'm such a sucker for a good enemies to lovers/second chance romance, to I was excited to read Just My Type. It was everything I'd hoped it would be. The banter was perfect and it had just the right amount of spice. Fallon Ballard never fails to write a believably, addictive romance.

Think The Hating Game meets High School Musical meets Marvel. That’s this book! It was a cute read, mostly closed door. The story is told from Lana’s point of view, so we don’t get much of what Seth thinks, although I liked him more than Lana! We also get a slight point of view of the side characters, but not too much more than a glimpse. The idea of putting two enemies together to face off for the same position, yet said enemies develop real feelings for one another, is a cute idea. Workplace romances are some of my favorite types of romances because why wouldn’t you fall for someone you’re around pretty much 24/7?! Definitely a cute story - Falon Ballard knows what she’s doing! Thanks for the opportunity to read!

This rom com was a bit of a let down for me. But it's kind of hurt to sum it up. Because while I didn't love it, I also didn't hate it.

The sunflower tattoos.😭😭😭

The sarky banter. The longing. The finding yourself.

This was adorable. And I am, as always, a complete simp for second chance romance.

It’s the “I never stopped loving you” for me.🫠

Thank you to Putnam and NetGalley for the ARC.

This enemies to lovers/second chance romance had the banter and the spice I was looking for but something fell flat for me. I didn’t seem to connect with the characters. However, I would still recommend it was a cute, easy read.

Falon Ballard is quickly becoming an auto-buy author for me! Just my type was lovely and wonderful. This enemies to lovers, second chance romance was everything I wanted it to be.

REALLY cute read!! Found myself rooting for the main couple! A very well crafted romance. The characters felt very balanced, the premise was cute and fun, rom com perfection!

I love how quick and fun Falon's books are. Some parts felt a bit unrealistic to me, but overall I had a fun time reading this one! I also liked that this book touched on the independence you feel when you learn to live on your own.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an eARC in exchange for my honest review! I read and enjoyed Lease on Love, so was looking forward to this sophomore release from Falon Ballard. Although it took me awhile to get into with a few false starts, I mostly enjoyed this one! Just My Type combines 2 of my favorite rom com tropes: childhood besties turned lovers and workplace enemies to lovers. I enjoyed both Lana and Seth's characters as well as the supporting cast of Lana's close friends. The plot was largely problematic in terms of the work competition, but the author obvi knew that/did it on purpose and addressed it well. Overall, a solid rom com.
