i though this book was really cute and humorous!! i loved the couple and there journey of reconnecting. this is a cute and easy read for anyone who loves second chance romance!! i would definitely recommend this book and you will fall in love with the couple. the epilogue did seem a little rushed which was the only part i wasn’t too crazy about but besides that everything was paced great 🫶🏼

ow to Lose a Guys in 10 Days is one of my all-time favorite romcoms, so I thought I would love this. The premise is so similar the main character even references How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days at one point, and I thought the second-chance twist would only make the story better.

Unfortunately, it didn't quite work for me, and I think most of that stems from how the second-chance part was executed. There were some crucial pieces of Lana and Seth's past that were withheld until way too late in the story, in my opinion, and this didn't seem to serve much purpose other than preventing me from believing that they used to be a couple. I think this story would have benefitted from a couple of well-placed flashbacks. As it was, I couldn't really buy into them as a couple, both in the past and the present.

Beyond that, their lack of communication towards the end just annoyed me to no end.

Aside from these issues, the writing was pretty enjoyable, so I would consider reading another book by the author because most of my issues with this seemed to be from the execution of the premise, rather than the story or writing itself.

A cute second chance romance that had all the feels, laugh out loud moments, great friendships, learning to be okay with yourself, and some great 🔥!

I think the reason I didn’t like this one more was just because of the very common theme of misunderstandings and the lack of communication

Second chance is one of my all-time favorite tropes and this book did NOT disappoint!

I loved the workplace enemies (sorta) to lovers vibes and the second chance all rolled into one. I adored the character growth, and I loved the friendships and found family!

I found Lana to be incredibly relatable, with how hard she worked to break the cycle of her bad habits and be better. And her connection with Seth was top tier! I’ll definitely be recommending this one.

A fun second-chance romance about first loves finding each other again during a workplace competition. There were a couple repetitive spots but otherwise the plot developed nicely along with the characters. I would definitely read works by this author again!

This book was just what I needed. The romance, the suspense of things taking off, the conversation...yes. Thank you for capturing all of that emotion and putting in a page turner. I am grateful for the early access to this book and appreciate the opportunity to read!

Lease on Love was in my top 10 reads of ‘22 so of course Fallon’s next book was placed at the top of my TBR for the year but unfortunately this one fell short and didn’t quite live up to my expectations.

I really love Fallon’s writing & I truly believe she writes books for ME. but…

LP & Seth just didn’t deliver has much as they could’ve. LP was soo petty & immature at times I couldn’t believe that lady was 30 years old… I was also more into the competition than into their actual relationship.
Maybe if we had gotten more flashbacks or background of their past I would’ve loved & rooted for them more idk..

right now fallon is 1-1, I fear 😰

but i’m already looking forward to her next book.

I LOVED this book.

I feel like this is the most perfect little Valentine’s Day read. It’s so cute and romantical and sweet and precious with a little bit of spice thrown into the mix.

Seth was the perfect book boyfriend. He’s hot, sweet, loyal, and hot. LOL.

I loved Lana’s character development throughout and her coming to terms with who she was as a person. Also, kudos on the mental health appreciation throughout this one.

I haven’t read Lease on Love yet but I totally want to after reading this one!

As someone who works in content creation, I found this book very charming and poignant. It was a light palate cleanser between heavier books- and while it was a light romance, it did deal with some heavier themes which grounded it in reality.

Lana works as a relationships columnist at a popular website in LA. What was once a dream job has turned into a chore, and a somewhat toxic one at that. The book begins as she goes out to dinner with her boyfriend of 4 years- she just knows he's going to propose tonight. Instead, he breaks up with her and perpetuates her cycle of serial monogamy, hopping from one relationship to another.

The next day, she has yet another jarring experience when she discovers that her high school sweetheart and former love of her life, Seth, now works for her company. Upon hearing of their history, their boss pits them against each other in a social media competition. She has to learn to be single, and he has to learn to settle down and leave the bachelor life. The winner of the competition, determined by the social media viewers, will win a coveted spot as a journalist for a more serious sector of the site.

Lana and Seth embark on the competition, and are forced to work together instead of completing their tasks separately. They revisit their old flame, rehash their old arguments, and learn things about each other and the former demise of their love that neither of them knew. Over time, they warm to each other and we get a classic will they, won't they.

Overall I really enjoyed this! I think Lana's experiences with her boss and mother added a very interesting level to the story. Honestly, I was really team Seth in the whole thing and thought he was a charming book boyfriend and definitely preferred him to Lana. This book also explored some wonderful friendship themes, and the contrast of the different loves (romantic, familial, friend) gave complexity and fullness to the story and characterization.

A wonderful exs to lovers rom com. Lana has been in multiple long term relationships since her and her high school boyfriend broke up, but now when their paths cross there might be more than meets the eye.

When Lana's high school sweetheart, Seth - who is also her ex - takes an assignment at her workplace, it's fierce competition at first sight. With their combative relationship history--and undeniable chemistry--they quickly find themselves pitted against each other in a battle of wits: writing an article series that goes against dating type.

Lease on Love is one of my favorites & a legit comfort book. Naturally, I was so excited about this. This book started out great. Hilarious banter, enemies-to-lovers vibes, workplace shenanigans & cute second-chance romance.

I really enjoyed the tasks either of them had taken for their columns and how they both decided what the next task would be for each other. While I found them cute, the entire relationship/break-up didn't make much sense. Certain scenes felt off and the much-resented reunion back in the day (at least to Lana) didn't feel like a drastic thing.

Overall, I enjoyed this one. It was cute & flirty with a surprising amount of heat.

Oof, this was a solid 3 star read for me, did not enjoy nearly as much as I wanted to. Maybe it was me, but maybe it was also just that the leads really didn't have chemistry at all and Lana was more off-putting & cringey than charming. All that marvel nonsense felt like it will be extremely dated in a few years.
The cover was super cute though!!

What a fantastic book! This book was my first time reading Fallon’s work. It is an adorable workplace second chance romance. It covers enemies to lovers and has great character development! You won’t be disappointed.

TALK TO EACH OTHER! that's what I kept screaming at these two because it seemed like they both still loved each other. I wish that there had been more clear lines of communication earlier (I get why it wouldn't be right away but it felt like it happened very late). I also thought that at times they crossed instead of toed the line between playful banter and being plain mean. Especially because it's only one POV, I would have liked to see more signs that he was still in love with her and didn't want to hurt her.

High school sweethearts Seth and Lana haven't seen each other in two years (after a disastrous attempt to reconnect at their twn year high school reunion), and now are in competition for a column at the same paper. Lana has been in a number of long term relationships, while Seth is a serial dater. The competition is for each to turn over a new leaf; Seth by settling down and finding a long term relationship, and Lana by learning to be ok with being alone.

Just like her first novel, this one brings not only a slow burn, second chance romance, but it also delves into a number of important issues while still being a fun filled read. Falon Ballard does an amazing job of normalizing going to therapy (how much do I love authors who do this in their books?), and working on one's self rather than only focusing on a relationship with another person. I loved that this was a book about fresh starts, about coming to terms with past mistakes, and with moving forward and treating yourself with the respect you deserve!

Yet another home run for me in Falon Ballard's second book, and I can't wait to see what else she will bring us!

Hi, you should know now that I’m about to be effusive.

Because I *loved* (loved!) Falon Ballard’s “Just My Type.” It is the absolute best brand of second-chance romance, combining humor and tension and angst and healing into a story that is basically How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days if it had Emily Henry vibes.

The book follows Lana, a 30-something serial monogamist and relationship columnist who aspires to write about pop culture, and Seth – a commitmentphobe, her new workplace rival, and oh, the guy who broke her heart at 18.

They’re pitted against each other for a column of their choice, but Lana has to remain single and Seth has to find The One – and also they have to assign *each other* challenges. And it gets incredibly, wonderfully messy.

While this book is a lot of fun, it’s never over the top, and is balanced by wonderful emotional depth and character growth as Lana and Seth get to know each other again while also working through both their personal and shared baggage.

It all comes together in a story that will have you feeling all the pent-up frustration and heat that Lana and Seth share, and swooning all over the place.

I seriously loved this book so much. I guess you could say…it’s just my type. (I’ll show myself out.)

I really enjoyed Ballard's first book, Lease on Love, and Just My Type was just as enjoyable if not more so. Second-chance romances always have so much hurt and pain that needs to be dealt with in order for the two main characters to reconnect again, Lana and Seth's pain is beautifully written and made my chest hurt, as good storytelling should. I loved how Lana learned to love herself and her worth, while Seth knew who she was and what she deserved the entire time.

4.5 stars. Thanks to Netgalley and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam for the E-Arc. I woke up at 4 am this morning for no apparent reason and then Im like let me finish this book and no regrets here. I was here for the rivalry btw Parker (Lana) and Seth and I was definitely here as I saw them grow into themselves. Thank you Falon for giving me a ending because lately I have not been having good endings. This book gave me all the feels and lots of happy tears.

I loved Ballard's debut novel and was super excited for her second release. While our main gal, Lana can be a bit obnoxious and over the top at times I totally fell in love with Seth. I think rekindled exes might be my new favorite trope and this book totally delivers on that traditional rom-com banter. Perfect for pop culture lovers with tons of nods to nostalgic rom-coms.

Falon Ballard knocked it out of the park with this enemies to lovers/second chance romance. I absolutely loved every second of getting to know Lana Parker a serial monogamist that can't seem to stay single for long. Ever since her first love Seth Carson broke her heart Lana has drifted from one long term relationship to another. Just when she finds herself single yet again and thinks things can't get any worse Seth Carson walks into her office as the new journalist. Where Lana can't seem to stay single Seth can't seem to maintain a relationship. Realizing their past Seth not only becomes Lana's coworker but her competitor for a new column as management pits them against each other. They each need to complete 10 tasks in 10 weeks and the results are at times comical, heartwarming and heartbreaking but every tasks leads them to a new self discovery. I loved the cast of characters that surrounded these two and the banter was perfection. There was so much personal growth and retrospection with the characters that I truly felt connected with them. If you are looking with a great second chance romance with some depth and laughs this is the one for you. I couldn't recommend it enough!
