Just My Type was so adorable! I loved this enemies to lovers romance, along with all of the twists and turns that came with it. I was so entertained, and couldn't put this book down! Falon Ballard is definitely an autobuy author for me.

That is, until her high school ex, Seth, now a journalist in his own right, takes an assignment at Lana's site. When their boss pits them against each other can they save their jobs and worse, their hearts?

This had How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days feel to it and I didn't really enjoy that movie and I had the same feeling with this book. I didn't enjoy either of the characters and felt that this was a plot-driven book. The plot was semi-enjoyable which is why I continued reading it. It did keep me interested throughout.

Lena is a privileged 30-year-old woman who is forcing herself to be single for the sake of workplace competition. She is very self-centered and entitled, she just wasn't enjoyable to read about. Seth isn't much better he would say one thing and then he would immediately do a 180. Together they felt like they didn't have any chemistry, did I see them as friends, yes but nothing else. I also think there was too much going on, from enemies to lovers, to second chances to workplace romance. Pick one! It was just too much for me. If you don't mind lots of tropes then this is the book for you.

3.5 stars rounded up. I think for me I am just not loving the second chance romance trope. I also find the idea of still being so obsessed with someone from your past to be weird. Esp. someone from high school when you are much older. Overall it was cute but not my favorite.

I needed some fluff and I thought this second chance romance was going to fit the bill. It did but it was more than just fluff. Just My Type made you feel all the emotions, happy, sad, frustrated, annoyed and even a bit pissed off (Natasha). Overall this is a sweet story with the right amount of spice.

just my type is a second chance rom com style book Lana is an relationship advice columnist who has trouble not being in a relationship. Seth is a journalist who can't seem to find the one. One day Seth and Lara finds them self working at the same place but this is the first time Seth and Lana has met tho... This book is a fun second chance book where the characters learn a lot about themselves from forgiving people in there lives and to standing up for themselves. Lana also face a couple of her demons and I will say I was rooting for Lana for telling her boss big time. Over all I enjoyed listening to this book on audio and give it 4 stars.

This was a sweet little romance! A little How To Lose a Guy in Ten Days but they're both in on the competition. Although the lessons that Lana learns throughout the course of the narrative felt a bit on-the-nose at times, I was still rooting for her and Seth and may have shed a tear or two at the end. I wish some of the side characters had a bit more time, but this was still an enjoyable read. I especially liked that she was able to work with her therapist to finally feel comfortable putting her boss in her place.

Fans of The Hating Game and The Ex Talk rejoice! We finally have another workplace enemies to lovers romance that lives up to the trope. I really enjoyed this story and the second chance romance trope that tied in. I wanted to love it as much as Ballard's debut, Lease on Love (which I ADORED), but it unfortunately fell a little flat in comparison for me. I think if we had seen a few more redeeming qualities from our hero, it would have had the romantic depth I was craving from the last novel. Regardless, I recommend Just My Type for a light, quick workplace romance that rom-com lovers will enjoy! 3.5/5 stars!

Look. Look. I did not ask to be so brutally attacked by a book that came straight for my throat. It took me several weeks to be able to put coherent thoughts together about this. Falcon Ballard, you SLAY me.

Just My Type was a fun second chance romance that reminded me as a mashup of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and The Hating Game. Lana truly carried this book because I felt invested in not only the romance but her inner struggle for self-acceptance. The Marvel references were fun and I loved the dynamic with her coworkers. Seth and her had chemistry, but he did come off as a little bland, I wonder if it's because she has such a big personality. The romantic tension did work though and I felt like it paid off well in the end.

Major The Ex-Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon vibes with a dash of Hating Game by Sally Thorne. This one didn’t have the charm of the authors debut novel, but it was still plenty fine in its own right. I didn’t like Lana very much. I found the characters and storyline to be a bit repetitive and annoying at times, but I love the idea of the competition and the tasks. I love a second chance romance and childhood sweethearts. The banter was a bit lacking in this storyline, as was the depth for Seth’s character. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC to review!

This book proves why Falon Ballard is becoming one of my favorites. This book was an absolute delight, a true rom com, and I highly recommend!

This was the first book by Falon Ballard, and, after reading the synopsis, I thought it was going to be a very cute and good read. However, it ended up being only mediocre. Lana was an interesting character and narrator, but I never could connect with her in any way that made me want more of her. When I heard it was a second chance romance, I was excited to see how Ballard would do it, but the romance didn't feel real. For most of the book, I found myself wondering if Seth was actually the person that she would end up with or not. I think Just My Type was an interesting idea, but the execution ultimately falls flat.

Second chance romance, enemies to lovers, coworkers, competition/pitted against each other.

I can’t at all relate to Lara being a serial relationship-haver when I’ve only had bad luck and no serious relationships. But I love her anyway. But, I also have an issue with the fact that she’s supposed to be learning how to be alone, why she’s developed unhealthy attachments for so long and being happy single, and she goes straight into a relationship (even an old one).

At times, I really wished this was dual POV so I could find out what Seth felt about everything.

“Just My Type” was a wonderful story about high school exes and how they navigate their adult Iives, and subsequently, their relationship, as they reconnect years after their breakup. It was well written, and surprised with the layers and depth that was written into a romantic comedy. 4/5 stars.

This book was absolutely adorable. The beginning gave me "Elle Woods in Legally Blonde" vibes. The book did have a little spice, but not so overwhelming that the plot is sacrificed. I absolutely loved the "enemies-to-lovers" and "it's always been you" mash-up tropes. The author did a great job at making me feel the angst and passion Lana had for Seth. My heart was absolutely a mess after the speed dating scene. LOVE!

Just My Type by Falon Ballard, is a very cute RomCom based on two old friends meet up, in LA a and both are writers. Lana Parker is an expert girlfriend. She has the role down pat and yet she can’t make it past girlfriend status. Maybe one day she could be a wife? Just maybe? Seth winds up in LA and they both are tired of love & relationships.. as they are now working together their boss sets them up for a challenge. Seth and Lana have this chemistry, that is obvious to everyone but them. Their assessments force them to go against their usual relationships. Lana must stay single and Seth must try to settle down. On the line is a dream job both want. The winner is the one’s who columns are the most popular during the challenge. This seemed like similar stories I have read but it was still cute and witty. The big question is can they compete like this or will they bow out? This was a four star read for me. I want to thank Netgalley & the author for my advanced copy for an honest review. This is such a fun read! Completely gave me rom com movie vibes! I loved the various outings the two had to go on together to complete their tasks. I also loved the writing style with the articles interspersed as well as the chats. Such a fun, sweet read!

A workplace rivals-to-lovers, second chance romance?? Say less, I’m there! I really enjoyed this one & am sad I waited so long to start it! I felt like the characters were very well-fleshed out, complex, and unique in their own ways; I also thought the pacing was excellent— I rarely, if at all, felt like things were dragging. Second chance romances are one of my favorite tropes & I think Ballard executed it d*mn near perfect with this novel. This was my first time reading this author – though I do own & will now be circling back to her debut novel, Lease on Love – but I absolutely love her writing style and can’t wait to see what else she comes out with in the future!

This book was cute. I enjoyed the chemistry between the characters and the plotline. For me a big part of a book is showing the characters growth journey and I feel like this book accomplished that very well. You really felt like both main characters had developed new character traits and had matured.

I didn't really "get" the aspects of the main characters nerdiness. Sometimes she would throw out nerdy sayings or describe her wearing something nerdy but it didn't really feel genuine to the true nerd culture.
