I had read and liked the author's Once Upon a Royal Summer, so I was happy to see another Once Upon a Royal book. Especially with it being a Christmas theme. Gracie is the owner of a Children's Party business , herself Princess Snowflake. Financial issues had her business partner enter her in a contest. The contest is overseas where Nickolas is the Crown Prince of San Glacera, and Gracie won. Hallmark if you read this review, please make this one of your Christmas movies! The writing is great, the characters are perfect with great dialogue and the descriptions of a village filled with magical hot chocolate and beautiful snow were lovely to imagine. The dog characters are also very endearing. I loved the Christmas tree maze scene and all the goings on in the Village.. While the romance is fairy tale, it is also a beautiful story of two people who are more alike than they think and they fall in love.
My favourite quote: " Never be afraid to melt"
I'd like to thank NetGalley, Hallmark publishing and the author for the opportunity to read and review this book. It releases on 11/1/2022.

Once Upon a Royal Christmas

Genre: Romance

Author: Teri Wilson
Publisher: Hallmark Publishing

I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.

Synopsis: She pretends to be a princess at children’s parties. But can she melt a real prince’s frosty heart? The economy has been down in San Glacera for the winter tourism, so the Palace holds a contest and the winner gets to star in their annual Ice Village festivities and accompany the royal family to holiday events. Prince Nikolas does not think it should be Gracie Clark, who runs a children’s party business and spends her days dressing as a Princess Snowflake. Prince will not shirk his duties to his kingdom, he will go to every even with Gracie. At least, once Christmas is over, she’ll be gone…”

My Thoughts: I absolutely LOVE Hallmark Christmas movies, it runs on my TV from November through December. They just leave me with an overall feeling of goodness. So when I saw this book being put out by Hallmark, I jumped on the opportunity to get an early copy. This is a spin on the classic fairytale and warms you heart. The tone and setting is described so well that you felt a part of San Glacera. This forced proximity trope blooms into a beautiful romance. The characters were well developed with depth, witty banter, chemistry, and creatively designed. The author’s writing style was complex, swoony, heartfelt, and intriguing. This is the perfect Christmas story leading up to the holiday and hopefully Hallmark will make it into a movie! I highly recommend if you like fairytale romances with a twist of Christmas infused.

Gracie Clark runs her own party princess business with her friend in the States. She performs at children's birthdays as "Princess Snowflake", the sparkly ice princess.

Nick, or rather Prince Nikolas of San Glacera, does his best for his country, but due to circumstances he is seen as the "Abominable Snow Prince".

Gracie ends up winning a contest and is flown over to San Glacera to star in the annual Ice Village festivities and ends up spending a lot of time with the royal family doing public events.

Thinking Gracies' appearances is a cheap spectacle, he accepts the decision of his family decision and goes to all events with "Princess Snowflake".

Can Gracie melt the prince's heart and is "Princess Snowflake" not as bad as he thinks that she is?

Once Upon a Royal Christmas is a perfect Christmas read. It's the perfect read for a relaxing read in the afternoon under a woollen blanket with a cup of chocolate milk. For anyone that likes watching the annual Christmas romance movies ~

This is definitely a specific category of books. You will know how it ends just from reading the blurb, but you still want to read a good casual romance book.

I really enjoyed this book, and so wanted to give it 5 stars. However, a glaring error within the first few pages means it only gets 4 stars from me.

The blurb reads:

“I’m Prince Nikolas of San Glacera. Oh, you’ve never heard of us? Well, you’re not the only one. Our country relies on winter tourism, but we’re attracting fewer and fewer visitors. I admit it’s a problem. I just don’t think the solution is an American who likes to play dress-up.

You see, while I was away on a trip, my younger sister convinced the palace to hold a contest. The winner gets to star in our annual Ice Village festivities and accompany our royal family to holiday events.

And who did they choose? Gracie Clark, who runs a children’s party business and performs as—I kid you not—‘Princess Snowflake.’

Of course, I do respect the fact that she volunteers at children’s hospitals. I suppose to some, she might have a certain charm... But the whole cheap spectacle is beneath our dignity.

I’m not going to shirk my duty to my kingdom. I’ll go to every event with her. At least, once Christmas is over, she’ll be gone…”

Within the first few pages, it is stated that Disneyland Paris holds weddings at their Cinderella castle. Unfortunately, this is untrue. Disneyland Paris does not have a Cinderella castle, they have a Sleeping Beauty castle, the only Disneyland to do so.

Fun fact, the Sleeping beauty castle is the only Disney castle that is actually pink. This is due to the sky in Paris being mostly grey, so a pink castle shows up better in photographs. In the US where the sky is mostly blue, the grey castle shows up better in photographs.

It likely won't matter to someone who has never been to Disneyland Paris, but I have, and it jarred me out of the story. I wasn't sure I would be able to keep reading, but the castle is not mentioned again.

Despite the dubious start, I ended up really enjoying this book, and have already added my name to the waitlist for the paperback version.

This book had great characters, cute puppies, annoying sisters, matchmaking bed and breakfast owners, a fun setting, and so many Christmas traditions.

Gracie needs funding to grow her children's party business where she's an entertainment princess known as Princess Snowflake. Her best friend sees an online contest sponsored by a European monarchy and enters their business, accidentally including a video of Gracie singing, too. Not expecting to win, Gracie agrees to accept the prize because she needs the money, even though she must leave her family for Christmas.
Prince Nikolas hates the idea of the contest and finds disdain that a party princess is the winner. As much as he'd like to distance himself from everything, he's pulled into the middle of it all because of duty. Meeting a beautiful woman incognito, he thinks he's met a real princess he hasn't seen in years. Sharing magical hot chocolate is a special moment. Attracted and intrigued, when he discovers she's the party princess, he's torn.
The more Gracie and Nikolas spend time together, they develop a great rapport and respect for one another, plus unexpected feelings. But Gracie is leaving once the festivities are over, and Nikolas is heir to the crown, nothing can come of it.
Princess Snowflake charms everyone in San Glacera, even the icy heart of Nikolas thaws in her presence. He helps her find her singing voice again, and she teaches him to trust.
A beautiful contemporary Christmas fairy-tale romance where anything can happen with Christmas magic and Princess Fairy Dust.

Thank you, Hallmark Publishing, for the advance reading copy! This book has my heart!

I cannot believe I would enjoy this little romance read this much! I thought I wouldn't get back the moments I used to have when I read romance books decades ago. But this got me feeling like "Hey you! You just cannot read me and not feel it!" and here I am smiling ears to ears after reading this sweet book.

It's your fairytale you wouldn't want to miss.
It's the story of Gracie Clark and Prince Nikolas who met under unexpected circumstances but also one knows the secret the other is hiding.

And so starts their journey.

I just love their chemistry. The dialogues. The writing. I just wish this book gets adapted into a movie. Won't you, Hallmark?!

This is a fairytale story about Prince Nikolas and Gracie who pretends to be the ice princess at children's parties.
Her pretence turns most real as the prince falls in love with her.

Gracie Clark owns a party princess company where she plays Princess Snowflake and entertains children. She wins a contest hosted by the royal family of San Glacera to travel to the kingdom and help increase tourism over the holidays. Prince Nikolas is not thrilled about the contest or it’s sugary sweet winner until they have a meet cute at the Christmas market and start to build a friendship that quickly turns to romance.

This book is a Hallmark movie in book form, so sweet and filled with Christmas atmosphere. Gracie and Nick do so many fun winter activities, from a sleigh ride to a Christmas tree maze. It makes you wish it was Christmas right now! It is filled with fairy tale references and lighthearted fun.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for the ARC of this delightful book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Once Upon A Royal Christmas was a completely enchanting love story.

Gracie Clark is a princess. A pretend princess for parties that is. She along with her business partner, best friend, and roommate, Clara, own Perfect Party Princesses featuring fairy tale characters for parties. Gracie as Princess Snowflake wants to expand the business and give her employees better benefits however, no bank will loan her the money she needs.

Gracie’s partner enters her in the Royal Winter Wonderland contest held by the Royal family in the Kingdom of San Glacera near the Swiss Alps. She wins and travels to the castle hoping to win the prize money.

Can Princess Snowflake “melt” the frosty heart of Prince Nikolas.

I loved the entire story. The scenery is described magically and the story is a sweet and fun romance. What’s not to love from the carriage rides, cute puppies, snowball fights, hot chocolate with a chef’s kiss to the magic of the kingdom and its people.

I highly recommend this story to those who love fun romantic reads about royals and the magic of the Christmas season. This is a book I will buy and read again each Christmas.

A special thank you to the Author, NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for the Arc and this enchanting read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

** spoiler alert ** A delightful romance about a pretend princess who becomes a real princess. It will make a dreamy Hallmark movie.

Gracie Clark often dresses as a princess. She and her business partner, best friend, and roommate, Clara, own Perfect Party Princesses featuring fairy tale characters for parties. As ‘Princess Snowflake’, Gracie wants to expand the business and give her employees better benefits; however, no bank will loan her any money.

When Gracie wins the Royal Winter Wonderland Contest held by the Royal family in the Kingdom of San Glacera near the enchanting Swiss Alps, she travels to their castle hoping to collect the prize money. The only thing Gracie is nervous about is singing, and that’s because someone hurt her heart by telling her she wasn’t a good singer. She has to find the faith in herself to believe she has a beautiful voice.

The scenery is described beautifully and the story is a light and fun romance. The village people love Princess Snowflake who is gentle and kind to all she meets. However; the one exception is Prince Nick, and sparks fly between the two of them! Can he love a fake princess? Their fairy godmother must be watching over them as they attend royal festivities in horse drawn carriages, sip luscious hot chocolate, hold cute puppies, have snowball fights, and quickly fall in love. They truly have a fairy tale romance once they get to know each other. I enjoyed this story very much and recommend to readers who love light, fun, romantic reads with no bad language, sex, or violence.

I honestly reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing. All opinions are my own.

Teri Wilson brings us Princess Snowflake and Prince Nikolas. Princess Snowflake is actually a character played by Gracie Clark who runs a children's party business with her best friend and is hoping to secure a loan to expand her business. Unfortunately, the loan officers at the banks she visited have yet to see its potential. Fortunately, her business partner entered her into a contest and wins a spot to participate in the royal festivities at San Glacera with an actor playing Prince Charming and being able to meet the royal family. When Gracie meets her Prince Charming and Nikolas meets his princess, sparks fly. What happens when they find out their true identities? With the distance and the fact that they lead such different lives get in the way of living happily ever after?

Teri Wilson brings us into the world of Gracie and Nikolas as they discover more about each other. While they come from different worlds, Teri Wilson draws you into their lives with Gracie and her princess parties and making the children around her believe in the fairytale world and Nikolas with his love of his country and family.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for this privilege.

"Once Upon A Royal Christmas", by Teri Wilson, is a fluffy, feel-good romance that reminds me of one of my favorite teenage movies, "The Princess Diaries." Gracie Clark is a small business woman who lives in Colorado and spends her days pretending to be "Princess Snowflake" for children's birthday parties and other events. When her business starts sinking, she begins to look for ways to keep her business afloat. Enter the small European country of Glacera, who has a contest for the best pretend princess to fuel tourism in their country. When Gracie wins the contest, she must travel overseas to attend several events. What happens when a fake princess meets the young, cute real Prince Nikolas? Sparks begin to fly and she starts to thaw his cold, icy heart.

This was a fun, enjoyable read and made me smile! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
