The third book in the series about the Logan brothers is just as exciting as the other Nighthawk Security books. Edge Logan is the youngest of the Logan brothers and felt very lonely after the death of his mother, but found a new family with his band of brothers in the Green Berets (I didn't even know that the Green Berets were still active). However, when he reports that a Major is a traitor, he is the one that is forced to resign. One day he will prove that Major Bradley Markham is a traitor, but meanwhile he has a job with Nighthawk Security, where he has been fighting his attraction to the owner's sister, Skye Delany. They worked together with Edge's brother in the previous book. Edge volunteers to go with Skye to find her half sister, Callie, who seems to have disappeared into what might be a cult. I didn't understand why Conner didn't go, since Callie is also his half sister, but then there would not have been the romance element. The exciting rescue leads to another mission and a third, where Edge finally gets to take down Markham. Kat Martin always provides adventure mixed with romance and this one was a rollarcoaster. I found two things that bothered me. Skye should have been carrying her weapon on her person, not in her purse. There are bra holsters and thigh holsters/ shape wear which would have been good choices. Also, I realize that the book was written before the boycotts started, but why did they keep ordering Bud? It wasn't a very good beer even then. I read an ARC provide by the publisher via NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Skye is discussing a case involving a cult that also has children that she wants to work with. Edge new to the company wants to work with her and at first, Skye wants to say know but gives in. She works at keeping herself distant from Edge even though she knows there is an attraction between them. She has scars both physically and mentally which hold her back besides wanting to work the case. The case though keeps putting them closer and closer together. A good story.
"One Last Chance" by Kat Martin is a captivating contemporary romance that tugs at the heartstrings. The story centers around two characters who have a second chance at love after their paths cross again years later. Martin's writing is heartfelt and filled with emotional depth, allowing readers to connect with the characters and their journey. With its engaging plot and tender romance, "One Last Chance" is a book that will leave readers believing in the power of love.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the 3rd in a series, but reads well as a stand alone. This is a romantic suspense. Edge Logan and Skye Delaney's story. 3.5 stars
Kat Martin is amazing, always, and this last book in her series is as riveting as the first two. The suspense holds throughout the story, it's like a rush of adrenaline page after page. Skye is one of my favorite characters, she's smart, tough, wicked good at what she does, but the tension between her and Edge Logan runs side-by-side to the suspense and action. Always looking for the next Kat Martin book, read books 1 and 2 first, it's worth your time.
Book 3 in the Logan Series by Kat Martin, One Last Chance brings the suspense.
Nighthawk Security takes on a case of a missing girl who happens to be the sister of agent Skye Delaney. Skye thinks her sister is involved with a cult and is on a mission to make sure she is there of her own free will. When Edge Logan learns of this, he is determined to accompany Skye on what he thinks will be a dangerous mission.
Sparks fly between Skye and Edge but will they be in time to save innocent lives, read this book to find out!
This is the third book in the Blood Ties: The Logans romantic suspense series by Kat Martin. This story features former Green Beret Edge Logan and ex-military Skye Delaney, both of them work for the same security firm in Denver, Colorado as private investigators. Edge left the military after being set up for a dishonorable discharge, and Skye is forced to leave after a debilitating injury. Edge's mission is to clear his name and return to the army and he never fully engages with his friends and family because of that. It was nice to see their relationship develop over time and not have them instantly fall for each other. They both have trauma in their past and it has an affect on the decisions they make for their futures. The story revolves around a cult that is controlled by the bad guy and generates money through nefarious means even though the follows live in poverty and have little in the way of food and shelter. As they close in on the cult's location, the leader moves them around and it's a race to see if they will be caught or will slip away again.
Martin's characters are always well developed and the plot follows a logical time line without revealing too much at a time. I really enjoyed ready this story. Thank you to the author, NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I’ve loved this series about the Logan brothers. This is the fourth book and features Edge Logan. I really hope the author continues the story with other characters. So good❤️.
Edge Logan is a former Green Beret that’s now working in the PI business with Connor & Skye Delaney. Skye’s step-sister, Callie, has not been in contact for a couple of months after joining a suspected religious cult. The two team up to check on her and soon end up on a rescue mission that turns dicey.
Skye & Edge have been feeling the romantic tension growing between them. Will they act on it and risk their friendship?
This was a story of two competent and formidable former military personnel who had gone through some tough times, both physical and mental. Both Edge and Skye had their reasons to be reluctant to start any kind of relationship, either physical or emotional. Skye’s physical injury had left her feeling undesirable as a woman and Edge’s wrongful dishonorable discharge made trusting someone difficult. They both find that their skills and undeniable attraction to each other override their reluctance. It was nice that both Edge and Skye could handle whatever came at them, both the known enemy and their own doubts about love.
The third book in Blood Ties: The Logans, One Last Chance is an engaging romantic suspense. This fast-paced thriller was both dynamic and engrossing holding me captive from beginning to end. A great story and an amazing edition to this series.
Friends to lovers/Best friends little sister and the slow burn happens before the book. Skye and Edge are well matched. Nice sexy romance great suspense and action. Great overall story.
This is a new to me author and I have to say I am looking forward to reading more by this author! I loved this book
One Last Chance (Blood Ties, #3)
by Kat Martin
Its time for Edge. The Third brother in the blood ties series steps out of his world to find not only solution to his problems, but the unexpected. This book is a rollercoaster ride, that draws the reader in and through a number of dynamic problems that could be a book on their own. I could not sleep last night as I was halfway through the b00k and could not put it down until the ultimately satisfyingly ending. A great end to the series, of three brothers, and their world of crime, solution and protection.
This series continues to impress and amaze. I love the chemistry between Edge and Skye. It is nice to see two confident and capable characters fall in love. The storyline was so good, it captivated me from the beginning. I hope there will be another book in this series.
It's non-stop action for Edge and Skye in the newest Kat Martin thriller. Just when you think they've stopped the bad guys and completed the mission, a new threat appears. But once it's over Edge has made it apparent that with his name cleared he wants to return to the Green Berets.
Can Skye continue to share her life with him once she realizes it's the real deal for her and she wants the whole package: marriage, family and a home? You're going to want to read this one to find out.
Although an ARC was provided to me, all thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are honest.
I loved this book! I’m a huge fan of Kat Martin’s stories and she never disappoints.
Former Green Beret Edge Logan has made a new life for himself at Nighthawk Security in Denver. When he overhears friend and fellow agent Skye Delaney discussing a new case involving her missing sister and a mysterious cult, he offers himself as backup. Skye is grateful for Edge’s experience, even though she is aware of the attraction simmering between them. Her battle scars make her reluctant to get involved with anyone, much less a coworker. But infiltrating the cult’s compound is more complicated than expected—and something much more sinister than worship is clearly going on behind its walls. As the pair works against the clock to unearth high-stakes secrets, the personal barriers between them begin to crumble. Together, can they unmask the face of evil before their time runs out?
I absolutely adored Skye. She is strong and resilient but sweet and real. Edge is so sexy it’s almost unfair. LOL. He is always looking after her even though he sees her as an equal partner. They work really great together and there are many interesting side characters I enjoyed a lot.
This story is powerful and engaging and I couldn’t stop reading it. There are moments full of tension, sexy times (OMG so good) and emotional ones too. The writing is flawless and addictive. I totally recommended it.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
When Skye Delaney receives a call from her stepmom, it's obvious something is wrong. Callie, Skye's half-sister, hasn't touched base with her mother for two months. Edge Logan offers to tag along as backup.
Skye is the sister of Conner, who owned and operated Nighthawk Security, where she and Edge were both employed.
Edge joined the team after being forced to resign from the army, knowing he was the fall guy. Edge was a Green Beret, something he always dreamed of becoming. The injustice is something he carries with him.
Skye has scars of her own, ones that she wears and after being deeply rejected, she doesn't get too close to anyone.
A trip out to check on Callie only confirms suspicions that all is not well. Skye and Edge are not only friends, but work well together as teammates. They already come up with a plan, just hoping Callie will agree.
A venture of snatch-n-grab turns into a bigger issue than just a cult. One where Skye and Edge aren't sure who can be trusted. As Skye and Edge work side by side, they can't ignore the attraction they feel for one another. After Edge lets a comment slip, Skye realizes that they both are on two different paths.
Skye demands to accompany Edge on one more mission as a payback for helping her half-sister. This mission may bring clarity and a happy ending, if Skye will believe in Edge's sincerity.
I've enjoyed all the books in the series with lots of action and unknowns. Edge and Skye's story had me cheering them on. Now I'm left wondering about Trace and Conner and hope there are more books in the series with their stories.
I requested & received an ARC from NetGalley via Kensington Books and I have voluntarily reviewed this book.
Edge Logan works for Nighthawk Security in Denver, Colorado. Skye Delaney is also former military and works there. Edge and Skye are both attracted to each other, but don't want to mess up their friendship. Skye's younger sister goes missing at a suppose cult and they go to find her and bring her home. Children of the Sun is not a religious cult, it's really a drug operation. During the mission they find they are both attracted to each other and decide what to do about the attraction.
They rescue Skye's sister and another woman from the cult. Since it's a drug operation they DEA comes into make the bust and with Nighthawk security there they find the men have left the women and blow up the drug manufacturing facility.
Edge and Skye set out to find the men responsible for the cult and track them to the new location. Logan is also wanting to return to his former military career and knows if he does the relationship with Skye will end.
I really enjoyed reading this book it was easy to read and really held my attention.
One Last Chance by Kat Martin
Blood Ties #3
Intense, intriguing, and interesting – really enjoyed reading this one!
What I liked:
* Edge Logan: ex Green Beret, works for Nighthawk security, dark & deadly, drawn to his coworker-Skye, a nice guy, liked the growth he showed by the end
* Skye Delaney: ex-military, wounded in battle, suffers from PTSD, strong, lethal, knows what she wants, cares about her family, drawn to Edge
* Callie: Skye’s half-sister, drawn in by a handsome man, needs help to get free of the cult, caring, good friend, grows a lot in the story
* The women in the cult, especially Lily and Molly…strong women and survivors
* The complexity of the story with mysteries, twists, and turns
* Being able to really REALLY dislike the bad guys
* The camaraderie of the people working at Nighthawk
* The Desert Eagles that showed up near the end of the book
* The potential for many more books related to the men working at Nighthawk Security
* All of it really except…
What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Knowing that the evil that happened in this book, though fiction, happens in real life
Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington for the ARC – This is my honest review.
