This was an excellent read ! I will read anything Melinda Leigh writes. I would recommend everyone read this series it is so good and love the short stories.Great quick read!

I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.

The Wrong Bones is the tenth in a series of novellas written by Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot. Told in alternating points of view by best friends Deputy Tessa Black and former FBI Agent Cate Wilde, the Widow's Island novellas follow the two women's' lives in their small community of Widow's Island.

The Wrong Bones, and other entries by Melinda Leigh, are told from Tessa's point of view. When a group of scared pre-teens stops her while out on patrol and tells her they saw a ghost in the cemetery, she goes to investigate and finds a person digging up a grave. When she tries to stop them they flee, dropping a box of bones along the way.

Forensic examination reveals the bones to belong to a teenage girl who has been missing from the area and that she was murdered. As Tessa and Logan investigate the crime, they come across a single uncooperative witness - a teenage boy with a complicated home life who they must protect as he becomes a target of the killer.

I highly recommend this entire series for quick, edge of your seat stories that weave together.

The Wrong Bones was a fantastic conclusion to the Widow's Island romantic suspense series.

One night while out patrolling on Widow's Island, Deputy Tessa Black runs across a group of kids who are convinced they saw someone digging up a grave in the cemetery. After Tessa confronts the trespasser, they run off and Tessa quickly discovers they weren't trying to dig up a grave but rather they were trying to bury a box of human bones. With the help of her fiancé, park ranger Logan Wilde, Tessa discovers the bones belong to a teen girl who disappeared nine months ago from a neighboring island. Tessa and Logan must work quickly to find the killer before their only witness, a teenage boy, becomes the killer's next target.

The box of bones and the fact someone was trying to bury them in a cemetery made for an interesting case. The first order of business was getting the bones identified which was made more difficult due to the fact there were only bones left. Working with Logan, Tessa does manage to figure out the identity of the victim and learns she was a missing teenage girl from a neighboring island. The girl's identity posed a whole new set of questions and challenges for Tessa as she worked to figure out how the girl's remains came to be on Widow's. With the death being some time ago, there aren't really any fresh leads to follow aside from tracking down whoever was trying to bury the bones. A few possible suspects come up throughout the investigation and I liked that Tessa didn't leave any stone unturned in her search for the killer. I was ultimately surprised by the killer's identity and thought the final confrontation with them was very well done. The ending had the perfect blend of suspense and action to keep you pulled in to the story.

Tessa continues to be a great character and I've enjoyed how much she's grown over the course of the series. She has a lot going on in her personal life and I feel she's handling everything well as she's become more accepting of asking for help. Her relationship with Logan is fantastic and I love how at ease they are with each other. The two work well together both professionally and personally which is nice to see. I thought the ending was very well done and I loved where the pair's relationship stood at the end of the book.

Overall The Wrong Bones was an excellent read and I would highly recommend this series if you're looking for some great romantic suspense.

A good read and it packs a lot into a short plot. Enjoyed it and the characters. I always enjoy the author in the various guises.

Part of book series, short book, novella, 10th instalment but story still made sense.
I loved the drama and suspense at the beginning with the cemetery chase and not knowing where it would go. Made you want to read on, and it actually made sense in the end. I also enjoyed that the book started with suspense and drama, giving us a taste of the thrill to come.
Logan was everything one could want from a fictional boyfriend and the dogs in this book, made it even better😂.
In this book Tessa finds someone late at night digging up a grave late at night, and goes on to find that these remains belong to a missing teenager who disappeared nine months ago, with this discovering from Tessa meaning that this was no longer a disappearance and was now a murder. Tessa and Logan are now on a race against time to find the murderer and discover what happened, before the boy found digging up the grave becomes a target.
Overall, this was a great short thriller with plenty of twists and turns, would recommend to anyone looking for something to get out a slump or looking for a short read.

This is a short novella, but man does it pack a lot into its short size. It felt as if you read a whole mystery novel, because they didn't leave any details out. This is also part of a series, but if you are like me just jumping into a series, this book can definitely be read as a standalone. I'm actually going to go back and read the first 9 books because I really enjoyed the characters. Overall, I really enjoyed this quick paced story.

Reading a novella was the change of pace I needed. Fast-paced, just fitting for a novella. I have not read the other books in this series, but I did not need them to understand the events of this novella. At this point in the series, the characters are well developed and relationships are worked through. The ending was well wrapped up, all questions were answered, even the disappearance of Killer Hen.

I will have to read the rest of this series after reading this novella.

Continuing this series,another gripping story. It was good to catch up with all the characters.. Lots of twists and turns.

I hadn’t read any of Melinda Leigh’s works before so had no idea what to expect. A great mystery story, kept me guessing, lots of twists and turns, great characters and the macabre setting of a cemetery. Very enjoyable

Thank you for providing me a copy of The Wrong Bones. This was my first book I have read by this author and I thought it was pretty good for it being my first by her. I realized this is in a series but you can read it as a stand alone so that was good to know and not have to worry about knowing about what the others were about. If you like a good mystery and throw in some romantic suspense then I think a lot of people would enjoy this one. Plus its also a very short read so it can be read pretty quickly!

This is the tenth novella in Widow Island series written by Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot. Not normally a novella fan but every book these two women have written have sucked me in more and more, can't get enough. I recommend you read the previous books in the series.
Tessa and Logan are a great match. Balancing work and family, throw in a killer, have their hands full. Mystery/thriller with a touch of romance packed into this awesome novella.

I couldn't put it down and I didn't want to. This book lived up to every ounce of hype that I had experienced for it. This book is beautifully written; a gripping storyline with strong characters. It ticked all the boxes of my expectations. I would definitely recommend it to others.

This is book 10 in the Widow’s Island Novella series. When Tessa catches a man she thought was grave robbing, she finds that he was in fact burying bones and not stealing them. She finds the bones were of a missing teenage girl who disappeared months before. Melinda Leigh keeps you turning the pages with this fast read and great addition to the series. I would recommend the book and the author.

Luckily, you don’t have to read previous novellas to follow this one. It was a quick and short read which was enjoyable. The story was a bit implausible, but still entertaining.

The Wrong Bones by Melinda Leigh is book 9 of the Widow's Island Novella series. This story is a fast read, full of action from the very first page. From the first creepy scene in a graveyard, you won’t be able to stop reading. I read a lot of books in this genre and the ultimate culprit surprised me. I recommend this book to readers of mystery.
