I ❤️ Braden’s POV but Skye still annoys me! He has the patience of Job…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is such a wild ride with Skye and Braden. He is controlling and insightful, always knowing what she needs before she knows it. He understands her perfectly and tries to protect her, which is how he shows his love.
She is not my favorite person, to be honest. She wants to control everything and argues every point. She tries to manipulate him and will not leave closed subjects alone. It can be exhausting to learn to trust with your being and not just with your mouth, but she is slowly getting there.
I love reading the dual points of view. Hardt has separated them for us as different stories and Under shows us so much of Braden’s heart, passion, and patience for Skye. It is steamy, with touches of erotica, and insightful. A delicious addition to the series.
Hardt is a master building that heat and passion so perfectly!! Love it!
Braden Black is a man who knows what he wants and has no trouble grabbing onto it, but when it comes to Skye Manning the tactics he has used all him live no longer fit. Understanding his confusion, his new found emotions and his reasons to break down his walls are a joy to read and give a flair to a story the readers thought they already understood. Another 5 star book for Helen Hardt.
This is such an interesting book. It's very well written, but the main characters are complex. Braden Black is extremely unlikeable - he's selfish, controlling, bordering on mentally abusive, and has extreme double standards for his relationship with Skye. Skye is much more likeable, though she presents an interesting balance between being a strong female character and yet allowing herself to be manipulated by Braden. The story is masterfully written, so while the characters bring strong emotions and opinions, the story is captivating and definitely keeps you turning the pages!
I requested this by accident. I read the description and it sounded appealing as I have liked Hardt's work so much in the past. Once I dug into it I realized that it was a retelling of "Follow Me Under" from Braden's point of view. Since it had been a while since I had read the Follow Me series I kept reading. I am not a huge fan of these retellings from another character's point of view and this was no exception. I didn't learn anything new or earth shattering and in general these strike me as a "cash grab" in that it's another way to cash in on a story that already exists. Thanks for allowing me the preview.
Under is book 5 in the Follow Me Series and is told by the man’s POV and I always enjoy those a bit better than the female telling the story. While I don’t care for cliffhangers, Ms Hardt is the one author I eagerly look forward to each new book, as she writes such interesting plots that don’t always have perfect characters and definitely keep the reader on the edge of their seat, anxiously waiting for what happens next. Under is a continuation of Braden and Skye’s story, and while they are at the next step in their relationship, Braden still feels like Skye is not quite ready for everything about his life and who he is. This couple have great chemistry, the plot is well written in Helen Hardt style and there are good secondary characters adding to the mix. I recommend Under as well as the first 4 books in this series.
I can never get enough of these books from Helen Hardt. Under, the companion book to Follow Me Under, is told from Braden Black's perspective and gives fans of the Follow Me series a thrilling and seductive read.
The story is told from Braden's perspective and is so exciting to read. It picks up with Braden and Skye making their relationship official. They have just said their I love you's and Braden is ready to give a real relationship a chance. Again, I think it's so intriguing to read from his perspective. It really helped me understand what he was thinking in certain moments. For example, when he said things from Skye's perspective that may have come across as blunt and insensitive actually came from his own insecurities and worries about Skye.
I give Under 5 stars. I'm such a fan of this series and devoured it in one day. I highly recommend this to fans of Helen Hardt and the Follow Me book along with readers who enjoy steamy reads!
I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
This was an okay book for me. I felt there was too much tension and not enough opening up To each other throughout the book. So much back and forth between the characters it was too hectic.
A fun companion novel to follow me under. This gives the story from Braden's POV. It's interesting and does add to the original story. Like Follow me under, it's sexy and steamy. A fun escape and it was good to revisit old characters from a different POV.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.
