Another brilliant addition to this amazing series. Book 16 and they are all as gripping and enjoyable as the previous ones. I’m not sure how the author does it but it’s one of my favourite series. I love it when I see the next book is out. I also love the relationship between Jenna & Dave and their close relationships with the rest of the team. I highly recommend this book, series and author. If you haven’t read any of these books then you are in for a treat.

Here we are in book 16 of the Kane and Alton series, in Black Rock Falls. It's always good to return to this consistently good series of books. The author keeps this series fresh, the pace is blistering and there is another killer targeting women through a dating site. There are excellent descriptive passages of the mudslide, I love the characterisation and I was engrossed to the very end. Another winner for the author and I highly recommend. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

A really good book. This continues Jenna and Kane"s life and the adventures they get into together. This time Kane has lost his memory and can't remember Jenna yet they have another major case and the town is being flooded. It will keep you glued to the pages as the book unfolds.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Her Bleeding Heart by D.K. Hood, is the 16th book in her Kane and Alton series. This book was a great read. I love this series and each book is better then the last. If you haven’t read this series I highly recommend you start. Can’t wait for the next book. Thanks to Netgalley for this Arc.

Kane and Alton are back and I was hooked from page one. The mystery is intense and set up some things that make me look forward to more. I also was glad to get some resolution to a particular storyline. I was a little annoyed by what happens with Dave at the start. This plot point feels a bit overused. What I do love is how the mystery grips you and you feel like your visiting old friends at the same time. This series is one of my go to's.

Another cracking addition to this series. I always love this serial killer town and the crack police force which deal with it. Cryptocurrency and the Dark Web are featured in this story but not all is as expected.

Big thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of Her Bleeding Heart!

This book tells of Black Rock Falls Sheriff Jenna Alton and her husband, Kane, searching for a killer of wealthy women whose riches are stolen and converted to Bitcurrency before they're murdered. Adding to the challenge, a mudslide caused by raging storms has pretty much shut the town off from the outside world.

Here I am ... Miss Late-to-the-Party, jumping into a series at #16! The good news is I feel Her Bleeding Heart can be read as a stand-alone. I didn't feel lost at all while reading it. The other good news is that I LOVED this book! I'm thrilled to have found another series I'm wild about!

Jenna and Kane have the best relationship and their personal backstories were compelling! The pacing and the twists in the book were perfect, as was the ending!!

May this series never end.

Book #16 of my FAVOURITE series by my FAVOURITE Author. This instalment is as gripping and scary as all those before it. Jenna and Dave (and the rest of the team) have their work cut out for them but ultimately win. I simply cannot get enough of this series and await each new book. I highly recommend this Author. Thanks to NetGalley, Bookoutre and the Author for allowing me to read and review this book.

Kane and Alton are back with a bang! In this latest instalment in the utterly gripping Detective Kane and Alton series and this one is a compulsive and enthralling read. That packed a punch from the very start.

As there's an unusual weather event happening in Black Rock Falls and there also happens to be a killer on the loose, but in serial killer central can they really be the only one?

Yet, that's not the only problem for Sheriff Jenna Alton, as her husband Deputy Dave Kane isn't quite feeling himself.

But with one victim identified and another soon discovered Jenna, Dave and the team desperately need to keep all their focus on an investigation. That becomes even more complicated when the town is cut off from the outside world.

And with perfect pacing, twists galore and a killer I didn't see coming Her Bleeding Heart was a fantastic read. That I couldn't put down and one that I'd 100% recommend to crime fiction fans everywhere!

Living in the UK, backdrop descriptions of scenes and landscapes from far away places are very enjoyable.
I love going back to Black Rock Falls and catching up with the delightful Kane and Alton.
We have experienced snow conditions but this mudslide is a new one and you feel every aspect of it with the characters. I simply love this series which keep giving. The characters are so well developed, they become your friends and the mystery, as ever, will keep you hooked.
My favourite combination and I hope DK Hood has many more to come as I truly get much enjoyment from this series. I will miss them so much until next book...

The rain creates all sort of chaos in D.K. Hood's newest Kane and Alton Book, Her Bleeding Heart. Women are being murdered and a playing card is being left on their bodies as a calling card. In true team fashion, Jenna, Dave, Rowley and Rio spring into action trying to stop a killer before he/she can strike again. And, is there one, two, or possibly three killers working in the region? The team works together flawlessly with the author's true commitment to them. More personal backstories are revealed as well. Fantastic read! Thank you to Bookoutoure for an advanced reader of this book - the opinions expressed here are my own.

Love this series , the characters , town ( I'm always say nice place to vist but not to live in ), the way the author does her descriptions of the mudslide, flooding, and the weather , places and people , she does it so good it's like you can actually see and touch them, or your actually there and outside in a snow storm. Other thing I love is how she makes you feel when your reading the unknown killer parts ,it's like your right there with them which is scary to think of .

Her Bleeding Heart by DK Hood book 16 is a serial killer thriller. It follows Black Rock Falls Sheriff Jenna Alton and her husband, Kane. Kane loses his memory after lightning strikes near him. It sounds scary to have amnesia.

There were good descriptions of the mudslide, flooding, and the weather overall, which made me feel like I was right there with the characters. I've read other books in this series, but not all of them, and I didn't feel I missed anything by not reading some of the other additions. Her Bleeding Heart is a good mystery with great characters. I liked reading more about Medical Examiner Shane Wolfe in this book. The book had lots of twists and turns, but there were a few loose ends that were not tied up in this book. Hopefully, the next one!

I would recommend this book, this author, and this series. A solid 4 out of 5 stars.

Always happy to be back in Black Rock Falls with Dave and Jenna. Another binge worthy, page turner. A wild storm and unrelenting rain but this doesn’t stop serial killers from striking. Our fearless couple are both in the firing line again as a killer targets wealthy women.

It isn’t easy keeping a series fresh at book 16, but DK Hood always manages to surprise and be original.

It is a wild ride that keeps you guessing right until the very end. Already looking forward to book 17.. thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for my advanced copy of this book to read

It’s very well written and definitely worth a read. Wow!!! Started this book and could not stop reading it until I'd finished!! Every time I thought I had things sussed, along came another surprise!! So rare for a story to catch me out, so well done to the author. This series just keeps getting better…..

It’s time for another visit to Black Rock Falls, my favourite serial killer town! Kane and Alton are called to the scene after a woman is found dead. The body count rises quickly in typical Black Rock Falls fashion.
This is another roller coaster non-stop action read. The end sets the stage for possible future serial killer action.
Can’t wait to see what happens next with these characters.

We are back in Black Rock Falls for book #16 of the Kane & Alton series. Whilst part of a series, this book can easily be read as a standalone book, although I would recommend reading the books in series order. Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy Dave Kane are on the case of a woman’s body being washed up in the river, but they have another problem to deal with first when one of the team is hit by a lightening strike. This case is a tough one with not many clues to go by, but when another body is found, it’s clear they have another serial killer on the loose.

The book flew by at a great pace. The weather again plays a big part in the storyline, usually it’s cold and snowy in Black Rock Falls, but this time the town is struck by torrential rains and flooding. The author does such a fantastic job of setting the scene, and the killer in this book is particularly nasty luring his wealthy victims away with a view to stealing every penny they have. Jenna and Dave are on good form still, despite the incident early in the book, and it’s great to see these two work together to solve the case. There could be trouble on the horizon however in the form of police officer Poppy Anderson, who seems to have her sights firmly set on Deputy Kane!

The storyline is gripping and chilling, grabbing your attention and holding it through to the end. There are some loose ends left at the end however, and I’m assuming these will be dealt with in future books. I enjoyed having Medical Examiner Shane Wolfe back in the main storyline but missed FBI Agent Ty Carter with him only having a fleeting role on the end of a telephone…I just can’t win! The case is a difficult one to solve, and there was no way of working it out until the author gives it to you. With lots of twists and turns, this book will keep you gripped to the last page. Would recommend!

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read and review "Her Bleeding Heart", the 16th book in the Detectives Kane and Alton series.
Welcome back to the Serial Killer Capital of the United States (possibly, the world), where there's never a dull day and deaths seem to come in twos, threes and multiples.
During one of the worst weather systems on record in Black Rock Falls, a body is found - a woman's body washed downriver, obviously dead and with a killer's calling card (literally) on her. Though the cause of death is not immediately obvious, test reveal that this was not an accidental death.
Dave and Jenna are experiencing a little problem - a lightning strike that killed a bison (unintentional humour for about a split second) has also left Dave Kane with a memory problem; and it's really not a good time! Add to this a hair-raising race into town and the tension never really lets up. Not for one second. But luckily, that is dealt with quickly and realistically.
In the midst of this investigation, another woman's body is discovered; and although the method of murder is different, it is obvious that this is the same 'perp'.
Ms. Hood introduces to us one of the sleaziest of killers, this time around. Not only does he lure them to their deaths (using a false online persona), he also robs them - big time.
As always, Dave and Jenna rely on their team, who are all back for this one (including, unfortunately, Poppy) and they gradually begin to unravel the threads of the killings. It's pretty convoluted, and the actual outcome is not one which I expected - but found to be an acceptable, nay enjoyable, twist!
As always, we are treated to a suspenseful tale, and we're also left hanging (but I won't give away anything here except to say that I definitely see a continuation in a future book).
Highly recommended. May be read as a standalone, but do yourself a favour and read the whole series to get a real feel for the main characters, their motivations, how the team has been built, and get to know Black Rock Falls. (As Dave Kane says at the end: "It's always madness and mayhem in Black Rock Falls. Do you ever regret marrying me?") I never regret reading this series.

Nothing in Black Rock Falls is average. Also known locally as Murder Central its experience of serial killers is second to none, it has a sheriff's department which never considers itself beaten and, at the moment, rain of biblical proportions is causing isolating landslides and flooding. With one of their own injured in a lightening storm and another staff member no longer pulling their weight the last thing Jenna and her team need is the discovery of a dead body. Unfortunately in a short while they will have two!

With no lack of suspects everyone is stretched as they try to find links between the victims and those who could have killed them. When suggestions of financial irregularities and use of the dark web surface the Sheriff knows she has to identify a main suspect before the clues disappear completely into the ether. With things getting personal for Jenna and a possible change to the focus of the investigation the weather isn't the only thing Black Rock Falls has to contend with as they remain cut off from the rest of the world.

In this the sixteenth book in D K Hood's brilliant series she has both surprised and amazed me. With danger from the first page the suspense never lets up but as the case progresses there is so much more happening to keep the reader on their toes which produces an un-put-downable page turner.

Most books in this series have been 5 star reads for me and I often wondered what I would do if the author raised the bar even higher. With this book D K Hood has absolutely done so and I wish I could rate it above a 5 because this is definitely the best and my favourite so far. With hints about book 17's theme in the author's notes I can't wait to find out what will happen next to this intrepid and much loved team.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. I loved it, one of my best of 2022 without doubt.
