I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

The story begins with Amanda going out for a girls' night out where she meets up with an old boyfriend Logan. She follows him to his house for a "nightcap", but things happen which causes a problem. Amanda and Logan find his lost wife's body in his bed, dead. Amanda calls it in and once her sgt. arrives, she is not permitted in the house. Trent her partner arrives, and she finally gets to look at the scene, but soon learns that the case has been assigned to other detectives, so both her and Trent are asked to leave again. When she arrives at the station the next day, she learns that Logan has been arrested for his wife's murder.

Amanda wants the case, so she visits the police chief and asks for his help. She eventually is given the case and her investigation begins.

Follow Amanda's and Trent's search for the truth as they try to discover who the killer was. Their first task was to try and discover who Logan's wife was and why she had disappeared so many years earlier. As the pieces of the puzzle finally come together and the whole story comes out, it will answer why she was killed in addition to bringing this case and something else to a conclusion.

This is definitely a book that you want to read and will want you reading more in this series.

Love this police procedural series. Detective Amanda Steele runs into old flame Logan and they go back to his house. Things get steamy and they head into the bedroom to find a murdered, lingerie-clad woman in his bed. Turns out it's his estranged wife, Claire, whom he hasn't seen in years. Amanda's new boss Graves takes her off the case due to her connection with the husband, but Amanda goes over her boss's head to get assigned to the case with her partner Trent. The investigation goes unexpected places when they discover the victim had a large amount of cash and possible ties to thefts. The investigation was interesting and I enjoyed the chapters told from the viewpoint of the victim, as well.

I am a huge fan of Carolyn Arnold's Amanda Steele series. None of these have ever disappointed. Amanda Steele is a wonderfully strong female character. I have always loved the dynamic between her and her partner Trent and was happy to see that continue to develop. Surprised to see Logan was back too! Quite simply love this series!!

I really like this series! This is the 6th book and they get better each time. I really do not like her boss, Graves, she is a piece of work. I was surprised to see Logan back and what a twist! His wife, that he hasn't seen in 3 plus years, is found dead, in his bed! This had many twists and turns and I liked the story being told from Claire's POV at times, it explained alot. Looking forward to the next installment! Thanks NetGalley for the advanced copy

As always another great story in the Amanda Steele series. Well written to keep the readers attention until the end. Just wish we didn't have to wait for the next one!

The Detective Amanda Steele series is well worth reading, this is book 6. It's twisty and full of suspense with believable characterisation and a good plot line. I really don't like Graves, the new boss but I expect we will see more from her in future books. I was a bit confused to start with the plot but it kept me interested once I settled in to reading. Overall, a good police procedural which i would recommend to lovers of the genre. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC

Had me completely hooked! I love this series and the growth Amanda has shown makes her so relatable. I was completely sucked into the mystery and it was full of surprises. The return of Logan was an interesting twist. There is plenty of action and suspense. The ending was great even though I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry. I love this series and can't wait to see where things go from here.

Still Detective Amanda Steele is my all-time favorite fictional character. I always picture how does she look like, like her hair style, her facial features and so on. Under Carolyn’s words, Amanda Steele is like a real-life friend to me. For sure, her work partner Trent has a complementary “function” there. Trent has the magic to soften Amanda being so tough and distant.

Amanda lost her Husband and daughter in an accident. She met her old friend Logan in a bar and when Amanda went back to Logan’s place, Logan’s estranged wife Claire was found dead on his bed. Shot on chest. When all the evidences pointed towards Logan, but Amanda believed Logan was innocent.

When Amanda was trying to find the connection between Logan and Claire, heists were revealed. They were shocked that the previous accidents were related…

I was jaw-dropped once the murderer confessed what (s)he did…totally gripping and those small details made the story so completed!

I can’t wait to read the next Detective Amanda Steele…7!

4 stars for an engaging police procedural. This is book 6 in the series and they are best read in order. I have to go back and read books 1-3, which I have not done. This was a free ebook from Bookoture through NetGalley.
In this book Amanda Steele hook s up with an old boyfriend, Logan Hunter. They go to his place and find a murdered woman in his bed. He identifies her as his wife who he has not seen for several years. Steele calls in the murder and her sergeant arrives and takes her off the case. Logan is arrested because the gun used to kill his wife was registered in his name.
Steele is convinced that Logan is innocent and goes over her sergeant's head to get the case back. Steele and her partner Trent do solve the case through dogged police work.
One quote: "The clock on the dash told her that it was almost eight o'clock. They had hours of video to watch, and there would be more steps to follow from there. Not everything could get done tonight."

Last Seen Alive – Carolyn Arnold
Detective Amanda Steele is out for a drink when she chances to fun into an old fling at the local bar and decides to go home with him for a night of ‘no strings’ fun. As they arrive at his home, things get hot and heavy, and as they’re heading to his bedroom, Amanda smells blood – and together they find Logan’s wife Clare, clad in lingerie, lying in the middle of his bed, dead from a gunshot wound.

Amanda quickly hustles Logan out of the room, summoning her colleagues as she does so, but not before noticing a gun lying at the bedside. As the investigative team arrives on scene, she is left to ponder – is Logan the innocent bystander he claims to be? Or is he responsible for the death of the woman dressed in lingerie in the center of his bed?

With Amanda’s superior on scene, she is quickly recused from the case due to her relationship with the suspect. As the scene is processed, investigators quickly find the evidence necessary to charge Logan w/ murder…but Amanda is conflicted. Is he a stone-cold killer – or is someone determined to frame him? And where has Clare been for the last four years after walking out on Logan?

As the brass sent their sights on the quick arrest and closure, Amanda & Trent begin to dig into Clare’s past. As they stumble upon a large sum of money she had in her possession, their suspicions only grow. A trip back to her childhood home brings even more questions. What was Clare involved in? Why did she try to return to Logan? And who really killed her?

I just love this series! As with all of the books, it’s easily read as a standalone, but the subtle shifting of relationships as the series progresses is intriguing, especially the attraction between Amanda and Trent, which they’re finally acknowledging. Action packed and suspenseful, this book is full of good stuff and had me up well into the night! This series just gets better and better!

(4.5) A super twisty emotional police procedural. One heck of a ride. First, I absolutely despised Amanda's new boss and I was right there with her praying for the return of the old. Though there was a little give at the end so maybe I should be more open. I am also not a fan of time bouncing, I get involved in one and then it yanks me out and I have to get involved in the present. Amanda is human, her reactions, her emotions, trying to find out what is going on. Logan, who is a blast from the past so to speak, well, he just didn't do it for me. I understand the fear, everything points to him, but he didn't click for me. I absolutely love the honesty in Amanda's relationship with Zoe. There are twists upon twists in this book and the ending had me sighing in frustration and laughing out loud. Sighing because of my own persona preference in Amanda's life and laughing out loud the way she handled it. Well done! Whose ready for book 7? Many thanks for the arc! I really enjoyed this next book in the Detective Amanda Steele series. This can be read as a stand-alone; there is enough background mixed in I think to catch on some of the high points of the previous books. The plot was twisty without being too over the top, and everything came together well at the end. I like the hint of romantic intrigue - so far it’s a sweet addition to the procedural nature of the rest of the book. I look forward to continuing the series! Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for my honest review

This series keeps getting better and better! Loved this latest book.
Amanda's finds herself going back to Logan's house for a one night stand, only to find his wife's body on his bed. When all the evidence starts pointing to Logan, can Amanda remain objective enough to gather the facts and solve what truly happened? As the case unravels, the suspect list grows, and so does the body count. There are a lot of secrets to uncover, lies to bring to light, and old crimes that somehow intertwine with her death.
I love Amanda and her partner, Trent. I am always rooting for them to find their way together.
Highly recommend this book and series. I'm already looking forward to the next book.

I love Carolyn Arnold's books. Detective Steele is one of my favorite characters.
This book was even better than others in the series. It was nicely written, the pacing was good. And one thing I love about mystery books will be the investigation process and this book gives me just that. And why do I keep thinking Detective Steele and her partner might get together? I am hoping.

Last Seen Alive by Carolyn Arnold is book #6 in the Detective Amanda Steele series. The storyline in this book is complex and convoluted. It's fast-paced and quite intriguing. Detective Amanda Steel finds the murder victim's body as she and her ex-boyfriend Logan Hunter are headed into Logan's bedroom intent on a steamy encounter. But that can't happen as there is a dead body in Logan's bed. Looks like Logan is the prime suspect, but Amanda doesn't believe he is the culprit. Following along as Amanda and her partner Trent Stenson investigate the crime was quite entertaining. I really enjoyed this book.

Amanda Steele, the Iron Lady… but only when she chases the baddies. Underneath she is as soft as butter especially where Zoe is concerned.

She does not open up her heart very easily now. Life has not always been kind to her on a personal level, but little by little she starts to see the other side of sadness again and of course Zoe has been a great help. This does not mean she did not have her family’s support, but sometimes, when you are hurt very deeply, you build a high wall around yourself and create a distance in stead of accepting what they are offering.

It's nice to meet up with Logan again. Fans of the series will remember him from before. Life has not always been kind to him either and this time it seems like someone is trying to frame him for murder.

Time for Amanda and her partner Trent to take action and hunt the culprit down. In the beginning they could not make head or tail, but little by little the pieces of the puzzle start to fall into place.

Once again I realise how devious people can be. On the outside they are summit of respectability. If you dig deeper though, you often find a much uglier personality.

When two people are in love, should they not talk about it to each other and do something about it  in stead of pining after them? In an ideal world, the answer would be most certainly yes. In our, often cruel, world, we are afraid to do this. We fear rejection or maybe becoming the laughing stock. Or maybe we are afraid to lose one of our best friends?

I honestly don’t think I could settle with being friends. In a way I feel like it would always be awkward. After all, a lot of good couples say their other half is their best friend and that’s the reason why they stay together. So…. 😉

Another great book in this series with great recurrent characters. 5 stars.

Thank you

I finished this book in a span of two days! It was compeltely a mind blowing thriller that will keep you on the edge from the beginning till the end!

The story starts with Amanda preparing a night cap with Logan in his house...until when they reach the room, they find the body of a woman fatally shot to death. And the woman happened to be Logan's wife named Claire. Amanda was asked to step away from the case and Logan was labeled as the main suspect. However, Amandha believed that Logan was innocent and with her partner Trent, she is determined to find out who actually killed Claire. As the investigation is going on, Amanda finds out that Claire has gotten a secret that involved stealing various artifacts and might be working under someone.

As always, this was a mind blowing thriller. Completely fast paced with twists and thrills along the way and the author has done a good job of making the reader feel like a part of the story. Though Logan was the "main" suspect, the real person who might be responsible for Claire's death is out in the open, and so as a reader you are in a guessing game as to who might be the killer. Great writing by the author and I as a reader was completely absorbed into the story. Overall, this was a great fast paced unputdownable thriller that will put you on the edge of the seat. Worth a whopping five stars!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.

Wow! It's not often that I finish a book n need to take a wee 5 mins just to bask in all its glory but this was one of those books! What a roller coaster. As someone new to the series, I wasn't sure what to expect but this surpassed anything I imagined. A lot of police series books can start to get a bit weak after the 1st few but if this is book 6, I can't wait to go back to the start and work my way through the other 5! Very well written witha good pace and a really believable and likeable protagonist. It's basically a really good crime/ thriller and I'd doubt any thriller fans wouldn't love it
