Oh, My! What an intense, dark, and fascinating World War 2 Historical Thriller set in the middle of New Mexico located at a prison camp. Author Michael Frost Becomes begins his WWII thriller with the planning for the escape of Nazi POWs from Camp Santa Rosa, led by Colonel Jurgen von Hoffman, a SS intelligence officer. Part of Hitler's plan to attack the US from within New Mexico! After raiding the Triple H Ranch, they slaughter all except the ranchers daughter, Virginia, who they take along with two vehicles and plenty of weapons. Unbeknownst to von Hoffman, ex-con neighbor and former boyfriend of Virginia, Tyler Keyes. Keyes' own pursuit along with U.S. Army, the FBI, and the OSS (pre-CIA) seek to capture the escapees and the weapons cache, along with kidnapped paramour. This gritty, WWII thriller introduces readers to a brand new intriguing, original historical war fiction by Michael Frost Beckner. Be prepared to be treated to one of the best stories I've read in a long time!
I highly recommend this outstanding thriller!

Berlin Mesa by Michael Frost Beckner
After the Aiken Trilogy MFB tries his hand at a new espionage concept mixing the wild, wild west with Nazis in New Mexico. So much of this seemed to contrived to me and the characters seemed too cartoonish. And worse, this book is the longest of his novels at over 550 pages. Far too long for a painful read.

I had never thought about the combination of WWII thriller and Western genres, I was pleasantly surprised how well they worked together in this novel. The characters were perfectly done and was what I was hoping for when reading this description. The story itself was wonderfully done and I was hooked from beginning to end, Michael Frost Beckner has a great writing style and I can't wait to read more from him.

“I talked to some of the hands,” Virginia said, walking into the room. “You and O’Hara and the little night ride you took to tear up Tyler’s place. Some say, last month, you killed his breeding mare.”Hendricks picked up a polishing cloth and set to wiping the gun of fingerprints. He looked from the barrels to his daughter."
