This is a great, simple and easy to read children's book based on a young boy and his dragon at Christmas time. My daughter was able to read the book to me and describe everything in the gorgeous illustrations, so she was delighted with it. We both loved the book and highly recommend it!

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

I have been a fan of the Dear Dragon books by Margaret Hillert for early reading and this series of "Let's Celebrate _____ Dear Dragon" are adaptations from the series. This is a very simple book with each page beginning with "I see" something to do with Christmas coming. I read this with my granddaughter and she was able to read it using the repetition and illustrations. Very cute for beginning readers. There are also words with picture clues at the front, so you can go over those before you read the story. A great book for a kindergarten or grade one class as well as a family library.

I see...

What do you see when celebrating Christmas. Dear Dragon and his boy see many things at Christmas. Your young reader will gain confidence in this foundational learn to read resource. Word work on this segment is Plural nouns. What is so great about this series, your child will not even know he/she is learning. A victory in reading.

A special thank you to Norwood House Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

An adaptation of a book from a series regarding someone and their pet dragon, this barely mentions the dragon at all, but does get it to wear a Santa outfit in the spread of images that teach us the seasonal vocab. (Yes, you will look for a real narrative here in vain.) It’s hard to rate early, early, pre-pre-school readers, but I see no fault with this one, nor its attendant activities.

A good sight-reading book with the added benefit of discussing plural nouns. Great for beginning readers as the sight words are simple. Let’s Celebrate Christmas, Dear Dragon! Is about a dragon and his human friend enjoying a snowy day at Christmas time. It contains colorful illustrations that are fun to explore. This book is good for children that are just learning sight words to read with an adult or older child to help with the larger words.

I received an ARC from Norwood House Press through NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion or rating of this book. I am voluntarily submitting this review and am under no obligation to do so.

This book for beginning readers reminds me of the Bob books. Having taught my son to read using the Bob books, I appreciate the following in this book:

-The picture glossary allows the teacher to introduce the words to the child prior to reading
-Simple, predictable text
-Colorful, appealing illustrations
-Word work and activity suggestions at the end of the book

I also love the fact that the book centers around a dragon; dragons are fun for children to discuss and bring a sense of adventure, which will make the books in this series more appealing to children.

This is a simple, early emergent reader for the earliest levels. The predictable text and pictures work well together. I’m sure young children will enjoy the Dear Dragon series.

My six year old really enjoyed this book. He loves the Dear Dragon books. My storytime kiddos did as well.

This is the second book I have read in this series and I'm loving it.

Wonderful for early readers or a quick introduction to a new holiday.

The different activities at the end to reinforce the lessons from the story are my favorite aspect of this series. Such a fun way to learn ot be introduced to plurals nouns.

The book has a picture glossary to guide readers and know the characters in the pictures. The sight words are appropriate for a brand new reader. There are 3-4 word sentences that match the pictures to help tell the story. The vocabulary is simple and makes sense for Christmas, or is evident in the pictures.

In this book Dear Dragon lists all of the things that he sees at Christmas time. This is a simple leveled text with several sightwords and detailed pictures to support decoding and comprehension. Each sentence follows a simple verb-noun pattern with the verb see and each of the nouns would be things anyone who knows about Christmas decorations would be able to guess. The book opens with a list of important sightwords and ends with a word work activity. This would be a great book for parents who are not sure how to support their new readers and teachers could assign this book without having to do a lot of prep to support parents in home reading. As with most leveled books, the story is not super entertaining but for young children who want to see success reading, this book is definitely set up for them to feel successful. That being said, this text would be much harder for children who do not celebrate Christmas because they may not be familiar with words like ornament. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this book!

It was made for developing children to get to know words so the narrative was made repetitive with a full page illustration, this time in the theme of Christmas. I noticed that words used in each book are different so it's good to broaden a child's vocabulary. And there's also exercises at the end of the book! Perfect book for reading and learning time!

This book will be a hit for any winter/christmas loving child that's beginning to read. The format of this book is perfect for a level A reader.

I love that Dear Dragon is a series. This helps children connect with the character, and look forward to all of the adventures this dragon will have! I appreciate that this level A book consists of short sentences: two sight words and one word that the reader will have to decode. I do wish that the picture was more specific for each page. Readers of a level A typically use the picture to help them decode the last word in the sentence. Some of the pictures had a lot going on, which may make it hard for the reader to know what the word is based on the picture. Overall, I think this is an adorable series that will be engaging to all beginning readers!

this is pretty cute and I like the fact it highlights shapes and has the workbook and activity in the back of the book so that they can learn pronouns, and adjectives and get an early start.
