In English:

This volume of poetry deals with themes such as loss and grief, but also with the social injustices and political problems of Nigeria. I really liked the descriptions and metaphors of his feelings used by the author, and I was very touched. I also found it nice that some poems were specially designed by arranging the verses differently with paragraphs, gaps, etc.
Several poems also referred to special, mostly very sad events in Nigerian society, such as hate crimes or accidents. Many of these events were unknown to me and shocked me. On the one hand, I liked hearing about these events and thus learning more about the people in Nigeria; on the other hand, I would have wished that this topic would emerge from the description of the book.

I award very good 4,5 stars.

This book of poetry focuses on Nigerian politics - it's eerie how it parallels with governments worldwide, so don't let that put you off! It also touches on social issues, grief, and death.

The poems are written with enough lyricism and deftness so I can't help but praise the expertise of the poetry. However, the style of most of the poetry here is one in which it touches on thoughts only. The poems do not feel like a complete thought. It's almost like you are left on a cliffhanger each time. I didn't mind that aspect of the poetry, but it did engender a detachment in me.

Some of my favorite poems: Mystery, Pitch Dark, and Wailing (to name a few) depend on more evocative language and are less dependent on a narrative that needs closure.

I appreciated the notes that preceded the later poems to give background to the poetry. I also appreciated that the NetGalley copy had good formatting which is truly important to poetry.

I actually look forward to reading more poetry by this poet as I felt the right feelings when reading this collection.

I really enjoyed the poems in this book. They felt very personal and very much like the writer had experienced all of these feelings on a very personal level. I actually felt like I could relate to quite a few and some were very touching. Typically, I do not enjoy poetry but I found this collection enjoyable and deep.

Normally i go for either poems about love or heartbreak! But this book was an amazing eye opener and a great change from what i normally read!
It opened my eyes to so much of what is happening in todays society and even expressed how i feel about certain topics! The conviction and meaning in these words had me taking in every poem and just loving them all! Don't get me wrong i loved some more than others but i normally find that poetry books have me loving half the poems and half not so much but this had me hooked the entire time! I really couldn't recommend this book enough!

This book is beautifully written. You can see the feelings the author has in his writing. I so did not expect this to be more sad than angry. I thought it would be reversed. I can see where he is getting the sadness and anger and it makes so much sense. If all this had been in my country, I would feel exactly like the author when he had written the poems. This author has my respect for doing this book. It's worth reading .

I received a free copy of the book and is voluntarily writing a review
