🌳Book Review:
Title: Underneath The Sycamore Tree
Author: B. Celeste
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/4 stars

Oh my heart.....😭 This one is a tearjerker, just a heads up!

Emery Matterson and her twin sister, Lo, both suffer from lupus. Unfortunately, Lo loses her life to this auto-immune disease, and Emery is now completely lost without her. She's not the only one. Their mother just can't seem to cope and even try to help Emery with their loss, so she moves in with her estranged father and his new family.

Now, there is one thing I'm not a fan of at all in this book, and it'll make itself pretty clear as it happens. The book could have written without it and been just as good, if not better. Made me a tad uncomfortable.

Otherwise, this book was emotional, deep, and pulls at your heartstrings. 💔

This is the first book I’ve read by B. Celeste and certainly not the last. I was hooked from the very beginning and held hostage by my kindle. The amount of emotions I felt while reading this are indescribable. As someone who suffers from autoimmune disorders, this book hit me on another level. At times, I felt like I was Emery. The writing, descriptions and feelings this book portrayed is one that will stay with me forever. That said, I loved Emery. Living with an invisible disease, the same one that she lost her twin sister to, decided to live with her father she hasn’t had much to do with for years. But he’s remarried and she has a step brother now, Kaiden. His support, connection and communication with her was beautiful. But we all have our secrets. Spice was amazing. But the story itself, the twists, emotions, loss, and sweet moments will leave you swooning. Can’t wait to read more from B. Celeste.

Such a sad story. Twin girls are close. Then one of them dies of an immune disease. The book covers the living twin as she tries to get through high school. But she is getting sick. She moves to live with her dad and gets close with her step brother. There is much to like about the story. There is family drama, a secret romance, and an advancing illness. But there is also normal teen things too. I have an immune illness so this story hit me hard.

What a fantastic book from start to finish. I felt my heart being tucked on, but al did work out in the end. It was emotional, and I felt like I was in the story with the characters.

a fun fact about me is that this book just destroyed my heart. i am in pieces. i knew to expect the ending, it was basically a given, and yet it has torn me apart in a way i can’t explain. what a beautiful, tragic story. this whole book i felt so deeply for emery and god did i want her to be happy. i wanted her to sense joy and she only had it for such a short time. this book makes me consider how blessed i am and to take advantage of the time we have with people. this life is a fleeting precious thing and we cannot take it for granted. even though i started out strongly disliking kaiden, i came to feel strongly for him too as we learned his own sad past and the demons he fought. at the end of the day, we all just want to feel love. the romantic kind, the familial kind, any kind we can find. i am truly unwell after reading this and will probably fixate on it for a long time to come. one of the best sad contemporary romances i’ve read in years.

This book ripped my heart out and put it back together. There were tears, laughter, and pure enjoyment that just poured out of the pages. I loved the diatomic between Kaiden and Emery. Seeing how deeply Kaiden started to care for Emery was both heartwarming and heartbreaking. I loved their banter and chemistry throughout Emery's whole journey, and I'm glad she had his support through her hardest times. Real tear jerker, if you loved "a thousand boy kisses" then this should be number 1 on your reading list, just Make sure who have a box of tissues within reach.

This book surprised me! I wasn't expecting what this book was about. I normally go into books blind. With me having Lupus, this book had me emotional. I could really relate to the character and shared her hurt and sadness. This book will have you crying, so get the tissue ready! I would recommend this book!

This book had been sitting on my bookshelf to read and finally last week, I got around to reading it boy this does pack the emotional punch as part of it is a heartbreaking read as this book contains a lot of angst and a huge amount of grief and the different ways that grief can affect a person. Also, a few ways that having someone with a terminal illness can creep in and take over your life and those around you. I don't normally cry in books, but I did find myself, especially in that last chapter tearing up as some of the book hit home a little too close as the main character Emery is dying and then she starts suffering from kidney failure as her main symptom and she had signs like she had put on a lot of weight but turned out to be water weight from the kidney damage and at the moment, it flashed my mind back a couple of weeks ago when I saw my sister who was diagnosed with renal cancer and it had triggered kidney failure for her. I would say if you aren't good with sad books and you tend to be triggered easily, then skip this one unless you want to be a bawling mess and have those tissues ready as you will be going through a whole box, but on the other hand, if you are like me then you may need only a few to dab your eyes as they may well up but not exactly cry. Without going too deep, we have twins with autoimmune disease - Lupus, we have a dad who died of a brain tumor and then we have the aftermath of grief in two different families. Each chooses to grieve differently. I shall finish here by saying if you need an ugly cry then B. Celeste's Underneath the Sycamore Tree is the read for you.

Wow this book is brilliant! It made me bawl my eyes out like a baby. The characters are relateable for me as I suffer from a chronic illness and the plot was so well written. I love the romance and learning about a disease that I knew nothing about. It's always a eye opener to learn the symptoms of unknown medical facts.

Sadly this book just was not for me. This sat on my kindle for quite some time - twice I have attempted to read and twice I did not finish.

Thankyou for the opportunity but I will not be providing feedback on any commercial sites for this book.

Underneath the Sycamore Tree written by B Celeste. This is the first book by Ms Celeste that I have read and it totally slaughtered me. Auto immune disorders are terrible and overlooked so often. This book came to me after 2 years of doctors appointments trying to figure out why my body was constantly swollen with unbearable joint pain. It rings so true that people will judge you just by looking at you, without any idea of what is going on beneath the surface. I will still grieve for the twins. Ms Celeste, I hope that you have very good doctors who can help you control your disease. The right help is vital.

This was the first book I have read of B. Celeste and won't be my last. I learned so much just by reading it. I was taught about heartbreak, forgiveness, family, life, friendship, and pure love. it was really devastating and I'll definitely never be able to read this book again, but I'm so glad I read it in the first place. If you’re looking for a deep meaningful story that is sure going to hit you with all the feels, then this book is for you. I will be recommending this book.

Books like this one make me sob(both in a good way and in a heartbreaking way) NetGallery gave me this ARC and while I am just now getting to revising it, this book sent me into a reading slump due to the fact that I could not get over this book. The story, the characters, the ENDING?! I could not stop crying and I enjoyed reading this book.
