I loved the beautiful winter setting of a cabin in Wisconsin. I did love the premise of the book, but seeing as the main characters, Sam and Poppy have such great professional lives, it was a little hard to understand why Poppy especially couldn't get a handle on her personal life. A little frustrating at times. Enjoyable read overall.

Just not for me.

I liked the premise of this book, busy type-a woman needs a break from life and rents a cabin, meets the local hot guy, and the rest is history. It was more the characters that were drawn in a way that bothered me.

Both Poppy and Sam are in their early 30’s, accomplished professionals in their fields (she’s a scientist and he owns a masonry business), but their actions and vocabulary were similar to new adults. The disparity made it difficult for me to enjoy the book.

I’m sure there are other people who will enjoy it, the scenery is described beautifully and Poppy’s sisters love her.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

Have you thought of just running away from the responsibilities of life? Ever want to sneak away for a week or two to ‘just be’? Is your family making you feel claustrophobic?

If you’ve answered yes to any of the questions above, you’ll relate to Poppy. a scientist who for years has felt the overwhelming responsibility of caring for her sisters and a father who is all too happy to just let her take care of things.

Looking to escape, Poppy heads to a cabin on a lake in hopes of some much needed ‘me time’. It is here that she meets neighbor, Sam, and his dog Bubbles.

The majority of the book focuses on the quick-developing relationship between Poppy and Sam. Her sisters, who panic when she doesn’t immediately respond to them, track her down. Poppy must decide to be honest with her family and honest with herself when it comes to a relationship.

The Hideaway at Silver Lake is a fun, quick read. If you’re looking for an enjoyable weekend read, grab this book.

We follow Poppy, and overworked scientist, who normally is all about the holidays but this year she just can’t take it. Her sisters are suffocating, the only thing her father cares about are his sculptures and she just needs a change of pace and some space to sort out what she really wants in her life.

Her blissful solitude is interrupted by a hunky, flannel clad neighbor Sam and his loveable dog Bubbles. The stress and overwhelm starts to slowly fade away…

Until her sister track her down with there problems. Will she finally tell her sisters how she’s been feeling and will she finally let her self love and be loved?

This was a cute story, I enjoyed the chemistry between Poppy & Sam. I do prefer more of a slow burn so the beginning of the book moved a little to fast in the relationship department for my liking but everyone likes their stories differently. I loved that we got to see both of their families in different capacities. I loved all the winter activities and the relationships between each set of siblings. I definitely recommend!

Thank you NetGalley, Jennifer Greene and Avon and Harper Voyager for the ARC of Hideaway at Silver Lake. This is my personal review.
Poppy knew she had to change things in her life. She wants time away from her family.
She heads to northern Wisconsin to a rustic cabin. I was hoping for so much more than I got from this story. The romance was Ok. The location was perfect. But I just did not get the feel for Poppy that I was hoping for.
This is the first book in a new series- The Snowflake Sisters.

‘Hideaway at Silver Lake’ was my first Jennifer Greene novel. It is a romance novel with a storyline that is a little far fetched. Unfortunately this wasn’t a favorite of mine.

Poppy has always been like a mother to her younger sisters since their mom passed away. She is now at a point in her life where she needs a change and a break from everything. She decides on a getaway for two weeks in a cabin at Silver Lake. Upon arriving she meets Sam and his niece's dog, Bubbles. They have an instant connection. Will Poppy be able to get her sister to understand how she feels and get her life where she wants it to be?

This was a very cute, cozy romance! I loved the story and the relationship between Poppy and Sam. I think this is a great start to a very successful series for Jennifer Greene and I will gladly pick up her next novel!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for my ARC!!

This is the first time I have read this author and I loved this story. Now that I know it's going to be a series, I will just have to read it. Poppy, Camellia and Marigold and their father have always spent Christmas together but this year Poppy felt she needed to go away and as she calls it, reboot her life so she takes off for Silver Lake. Now just read to see what happens. A Very Good Christmas Story.

Did you ever want to run away from all the chaos in your life and just hide out for a few weeks. That is exactly what Poppy does in this new book Hideaway at Silver Lake by Jennifer Greene. Poppy has many people dependent on her, so she escapes to a lake cabin for a few weeks for peace and solitude. But she discovers that you can’t run away from your problems quite that easily – especially during the holidays. Her sisters track her down, but will Poppy finally be able to say no?
Love, laughter, and tears. It will be hard to put this book down once you start reading. So pick up that cocoa and snuggle down for a great seasonal read.

This was a good novel to begin a new series. It was a quick read and fell a little flat for me but none the less was enjoyable. I am new to Jennifer Greenes novels. I will definitely check more of her works out.

HIDEAWAY AT SILVER LAKE is a great introduction into a new series by Jennifer Greene, snowflake sister’s novel. Memories are treasures. When life gets busy, we are filled with stuff we have to do. Chores that seemingly take up all the air in the room. Responsibilities that often weigh us down but have to be tended to. It is important to take time to ease up on that accelerator and HIDEAWAY AT SILVER LAKE by Jennifer Greene is all about taking that breath.
So Jennifer Greene is a true romantic. HIDEAWAY AT SILVER LAKE simply oozes love, relationships, and family. Poppie has rented a rather rustic cabin in her attempt to put distance between her equally demanding job and family. Sam is a neighbor who watchers over the cabin for its owner. So these two were fated to meet. But neither had any expectations. Poppie needed some time alone to deal with stress. Sam made it difficult to avoid his company. Actually Sam and his huge wolfhound Bubbles.
Poppie has literally shut off communications with her two sisters. She needs a break from their dependency. The sisters have been a close trio since their mother’s death. They had lived with their artist father who was for all practically purposes invisible. Poppie, being the oldest at eleven, took the reins. And now after so many years she is feeling the angst of overseeing everything family. Her sisters are grown women. Her father should be managing his own affairs. So Poppie chooses to not answer any texts. Sounds simple but nothing in Poppies world is simple.
So in HIDEAWAY AT SILVER LAKE we learn a lot about making new friends and developing a new outlook on life. Sam becomes very important to Poppie even though she is still not sure what she wants her future to look like. HIDEAWAY AT SILVER LAKE isn’t about closing one door and opening a new portal of life. It is about adjusting expectations and learning a lot about oneself. Jennifer Greene created some fabulous characters in HIDEAWAY AT SILVER LAKE. Their situations and discussions are what great writing is all about. Personally can’t wait for the ensuing installment to this new series. HIDEAWAY AT SILVER LAKE is a joyful read filled with lovely moments.
