What made .me fell in love with this story .
Perfect to just set and get lost in , and read the day way, the characters themselves, the way the author uses the history as well as the myths from Ireland. The mystery of the main character's family past , and see everything coming to life before your eyes .

This is one of those books that you want to read on a rainy day. A young woman (Iris) looses her mother and goes to Ireland to find about her family's past. What she finds is both disturbing and revealing and explains why her mother left Ireland years before. When faced with a similar situation to her mother's , Iris finds out who her family and friends really are. I will probably recommend to fellow readers.

The characters come alive on the pages of this book. The author is gifted at weaving a story of sisters...death and despair...family and connecting...this book was sent to me by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher for the electronic copy. What will happen next? Will forgiveness occur? Questions to be answered by the sisters in this novel. Tragedy...forgiveness...starting over...curl up in a comfy chair...grab a cup of steaming herbal tea...be transported to the land of Ireland and the lives of these characters who come alive on the pages.

Losing a parent is always hard. It does not matter how old they are or how old you are, it’s always something that turns you life upside down.

When you are young and the only parent you know, dies, it must feel like the end of the world. Who can you turn to? Often you go to the devil you know, but you realise real soon you should have left well alone.

You don’t know what to do until your mother Aisling’s sister Maeve reaches out to you. She still lives in Ireland, the country your mum left about 20 years ago. This is your chance to get to know her and maybe find out a bit more about your mother’s life when she was young.

When you arrive, it seems like you will find out a lot more than you thought you would. Your aunt is not very forthcoming, but a diary will explain a lot. Not everything though. Confession time…

The author makes us travel between Ireland and the US. We follow Iris who is the main character, trying to get her life back on the rails after her mother’s death. The story is told from different points of view.

Ireland is a fascinating country. It was interesting to learn a bit about it’s history and myths. I really like to listen to language and I once, a few years ago, tried to follow a course, but it was so hard. I could not even pronounce most of the words. Unfortunately I had to give it up, but I still thinks it’s a beautiful language. Maybe one day 😊

This is a story about a family who went through the wringer and you would think they would stick together. The truth is something different altogether. Can some things be mended or is all lost forever?

A moving book. 4 stars.

Thank you

Iris visits her family in Ireland after her mother dies. 20 years ago her aunt Nuala died at Swan Hall lake. Secrets and lies arise in this heart tugging mystery. I was glued to the pages and couldn’t hardly put it down. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and it was definitely a 5⭐️ read. Thanks NetGalley, Bookouture and Noelle Harrison for the opportunity to read this book!

This book is billed as a completely compelling and gripping read about heartbreak and secrets that tore three sisters apart. I’m sure others will adore this book, but it just wasn’t for me. I found it incredibly slow going and only seemed to really garner my interest around 75% of the way through. I couldn’t really warm to any of the characters. I would rate this 2,5 stars rounded up to three. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the chance to review.
