This is the second book in the series, but can honestly be read as a standalone.

While I enjoyed it for the most, I was kind of annoyed by Beckett and Evie at times and the miscommunication. That’s probably my least favorite trope.

It’s a small town romance with some steamy scenes.

"In the Weeds" by B.K. Borison is a charming and engaging audiobook that perfectly captures the essence of a sweet, small-town romance. The story revolves around Louisa, affectionately known as Lou, who inherits a struggling flower farm from her late grandmother. Lou's journey of transforming the farm into a thriving business is at the heart of the story, making it not just a romance but also a tale of self-discovery and resilience.

The setting of the flower farm adds a unique and picturesque backdrop to the story. It's filled with vivid descriptions of nature and the daily workings of farm life, which are both refreshing and grounding. The small-town vibe is palpable, with a close-knit community that adds richness to the narrative.

Lou's character is wonderfully developed. She's strong, determined, and yet vulnerable in a way that makes her relatable. Her dedication to preserving her grandmother's legacy is touching and forms the emotional core of the story. The romantic interest, a charming and somewhat mysterious character, brings an additional layer of intrigue and warmth to the tale. Their slow-burning romance is beautifully written, with enough tension and sweetness to keep you hooked.

The supporting characters, including Lou's friends and the small-town residents, are delightful and contribute significantly to the story's charm. They provide humor, support, and a sense of community that enriches Lou's journey.

B.K. Borison's writing style is easy and engaging, with a good balance of dialogue and description. The narration of the audiobook adds an extra layer of enjoyment, bringing the characters and the setting to life with a clear and engaging voice.

Overall, "In the Weeds" is a heartwarming and uplifting listen. It's perfect for those who enjoy a sweet romance with a strong female lead, set against the backdrop of nature and community. The story is a lovely blend of love, growth, and the beauty of pursuing one's passions. If you're looking for an audiobook that feels like a cozy and comforting hug, "In the Weeds" is definitely a great pick.

flowers and tattoos… now that’s my vibe.

this is a follow up to Lovelight Farms following our handsome tattooed farmer Beckett, a man of few words with a bundle of kittens and the social media influencer, Evie, who had showcased Stella’s tree farm and is now looking for a place to find herself again during her influencer burnout. these two have a one night past that still lingers between them, and boooyy oh boy did it deliver. this is the perfect cozy read that made me sooo emotional with the best mixture of sweet and steamy. i loved them!!!!!

tropes:
small town
grumpy x sunshine
second chance lovers
mental health rep
tattooed farmer
social media influencer

LOVED this version of the story. Really well done audio of one of my favorite bk borison novels. BK Borison has an uncanny ability to write atmosphoric stories that stick with you. She is always a must read for me.

Beckett and Evie were so much fun! I absolutely loved this one. The narrators were excellent and the story was engaging. I can’t wait to read more from this author

Evie and Beckett are just the sweetest. There’s a lot of self exploration going on for both of them as well as discovering not just each other, but how to be a part of a relationship. I just adore this book and am excited for more from BK Borison.

Narration: These are not narrators I would seek out on a normal basis, but I think they were well cast for this story.

Thanks to Dreamscape and NetGalley for my chance to review.

Thank you, Netgalley, for the ARC!

This cover is so cute. All of the covers for this series are the best.

Honestly, I don’t go for books with famous or influencer MCs because they’re not my cup of tea, but Evelyn was very relatable. I too don’t know what I’m doing with my life either. The only difference is that I cannot afford to take a break and escape to a cute farm with a hot and grumpy farmer.

I was more invested in the duck plot with Beckett. I’m currently on Farm Tok and want to love there. Nothing makes me smile more than this grumpy farmer loving and caring for a duck he didn’t want.

But as with the previous book in the series, while it was nice to listen to, I was not attached to the romance or the plot whatsoever. Evelyn and Beckett were nice but I will be remembering the duck aspects over them.

Lovelight Farms gave me warm fuzzies from start to finish and In the Weeds brought all those feelings right back. Inglewild’s small town vibes and quirky residents remind me so much of Gilmore Girls and I love it. The town meeting and their phone tree had me 😂 more than once in this book. I loved having dual POV. There is so much mutual pining and the sexual tension is off the charts. Evie and Beckett have such a sweet relationship of quietly supporting one another and bringing out the best in each other. As much as I loved their relationship I also loved that they both had a lot of individual growth throughout the book. My one hang up is that part of the conflict is caused by a miscommunication that was definitely preventable. BUT one of their friends actually says it sounds like this is just a miscommunication and pushes Evie to make things right. So I did love that she straight up called it out. This was such a solid follow up to the first book and I cannot wait to read the next one! Definitely pick up In the Weeds and find your happy!

I didn't really enjoy the female narrator's voice for In the Weeds, so luckily I was granted access to the eARC so I could just read this book with my eyes instead of my ears. I loved the book so much, and am pasting my review for it below. However, I will not personally be recommending the audiobook for purely it's-not-you-it's-me reasons.

*happy sigh* The Lovelight series is quickly becoming a cozy favorite of mine. I adored Lovelight Farms when I read it last Christmas, and In the Weeds is even better! Evie and Beckett get their second chance at love, and I enjoyed their journey. Readers met Evie in the first book, as she was the social media influencer who highlighted Lovelight Farms at Christmastime. It was mentioned at that time that she and Beckett had had a steamy night together recently, which made for an awkward surprise reunion when she showed up at the farm. Just like that night in the hotel room, she disappeared on Beckett without a word after she had enough info for her piece on Lovelight Farms. In the Weeds begins with a flashback to that fateful one-night stand, where readers get all the juicy details of what happened between the two of them.

Spring has sprung in Inglewild, and I loved seeing the flowers bloom and tagging along on planting days on the farm. I’m happy to report that Beckett’s adorable kittens are still babies who rule the farm and have Beckett whipped. I fell in love with this broody farmer in the first book. There’s just something about a man who loves to rescue animals, and I suggest you prepare to melt over a sweet little duckling in this book. I enjoyed getting to know Beckett more, and I loved Evie as well! Evie is experiencing some major burnout with her job and is feeling a little lost in her life. When her assistant asks her to name the last place she felt truly happy, Lovelight Farms immediately flashed across her mind. So, of course, she returns… not really knowing why. She and Beckett run into each other right when she arrives and finds out there’s no place in the entire town for her to stay and Beckett, being the gentleman that he is, offers her one of the spare rooms in his house. She moves into his house and back into his heart. There’s so many feelings between these two, my goodness. The romance in this story feels so real and raw. It is a very slow burn, dripping with angst and I loved it. They both have a lot to work through personally, as well as together. Their nights drinking tea together on his porch, their mornings skirting feelings around the kitchen, and their not-so-secret longing for one another was delicious. I just loved watching them work through their emotions and their feelings.

Inglewild is the most amazing town. The gossip phone tree, activated when anything interesting happens, made me giggle. The supporting characters, some of whom are instrumental in getting these two together, warmed my heart. Everyone is ready, willing, and eager to lend a helping hand whenever needed, whether it be to offer baking advice or help warm someone up who fell in a freezing lake. I loved seeing Stella and Luka again, as well as Layla. These three, plus Beckett, own Lovelight Farms together and I love this supportive found family of friends. If one of them is out stress digging in the fields in the middle of the night, the rest of them will climb out of bed and bring shovels and coffee to dig together in silence. If someone is camped out on the floor of their kitchen feeling sad, at least one of them is bound to show up and sit on the floor with them. The friendships in this series make my heart ache in the best possible way.

As with the first book, I love B.K. Borison’s writing. Her descriptions of the scenery and the goings on at the farm made me feel like I was there. She writes the best love stories and characters you’re sure to fall in love with. I’ve already read the next book in this series because I could not pull myself away from this cozy world she’s created. I’d like to stay here forever!

I don't think the Lovelight series is for me. This is the second book that I am giving two stars to. I can only take a miscommunication trope for so long and this one exceeded my limit.

Cute light read about second chances. I liked the first one in the series better but this was still good. It is predictable but I do like the authors writing style and love the little community.

I enjoy this series, but I didn't like this installment as much as I liked Book 1. I really thought I'd love both of these characters especially Beckett, but this story just didn't work for me. I needed there to be a little bit more.

The narration was great for this and enjoyed both narrators, I almost wonder though if I would have enjoyed this more if I hadn't done audio though.

Overall, I know people LOVE this book and I want to say that this is entirely my opinion and that for me this book wasn't it, but I know that other people will definitely enjoy.

i started off listening to the audiobook of “in the weeds,” without having read “lovelight farms.” sometimes you can jump right in at any serie’s installment and fair well but i’d recommend reading these books in order. being as stubborn as i am, it took me until 40% of the way into the novel to realize that i wasn’t enjoying the book without knowing how everyone was connected to the farm. yes, “in the weeds” focuses on evie and beckett’s romance, but it was much more fun to read when i knew who stella and luca were (and their relationship, too!), especially because they make many brief appearances throughout the plot. i love how the tropes between these two novels are different. i would consider “lovelight farms” a fake-dating, friends-to-lovers trope and “in the weeds” a second-chance love.

after learning about evie’s job as a social media influencer brought her to lovelight farms, i was super excited that she’d get her own story. it’s always a lot of fun to see characters who were side-characters in one novel to get their own time to shine! the same goes for beckett and his family. even though it takes awhile for him to warm up, he’s such a gently guy who has a soft spot for his sisters and abandoned animals! by now, you can probably tell how much i love the community of lovelight farms … so imagine my excitement when i learned that their very own layla dupree is next to get her own novel!

All of my co-workers at the library were talking non stop about these books and I jumped when I saw the audiobook. I fully enjoyed this book and it was the perfect listening length for listening while I was working, getting through it in one week as I was listening off and on throughout the day.

Evelyn St. James and Beckett Porter spent one amazing weekend together in Maine, and though he can’t forget her, he never expected to see her again. When she shows up at his farm as part of a social media contest, he is shocked to learn that she is a social media influencer with a massive following. When she leaves again, Beckett resolves to forget her and move on. Evelyn, on the other hand, is feeling disconnected from her work and longing to feel something real. She decides to take a break at the last place she felt happy – Lovelight Farms. If that happens to be where Beckett Porter is, well, that’s just a coincidence, right?

Pippa Jayne and Dane Anderson both did a fantastic job narrating this audiobook. This is the second book in the Lovelight series but can be easily read as a standalone. I adored both characters and was rooting for the HEA you know if coming in a book like this. In a world that values people by their productivity, this line from In the Weeds really stuck with me: “Doing less doesn’t make you less.” As someone who can’t handle being in loud places, I loved seeing that as a trait for Beckett, too. I highly recommend romance lovers check out this book!

Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an audio ARC of this book.

I absolutely adore the setting of Lovelight Farms! In my opinion, the relationship in this novel didn't seem as authentic as the relationship in the first book of the series, but I still really enjoyed getting to spend more time with these characters. I'm eagerly looking forward to continuing the series!

In The Weeds by Olivia Dade is a delightful and heartwarming second-chance romance that will leave readers feeling happy and satisfied. The story follows social media influencer Evelyn St. James as she returns to Lovelight Farms and the small town of Inglewild to find her happiness. The grumpy farmer, Beckett Porter, with whom she had a hot and heavy fling, is still on her mind, but she's determined to focus on herself and her work.

The chemistry between Evie and Beckett is off the charts, and their banter is both funny and sweet. The author has done an excellent job of creating two relatable and likable characters who are flawed and vulnerable. Their emotional journey is heartwarming, and the small town setting and the supporting characters add to the charm of the story.

The plot moves at a good pace, and the story is well-written, with a perfect balance of humor, steam, and romance.

I loved Lovelight Farms and was so excited to listen to this. Unfortunately, I had to move it to the DNF pile a few months ago. However, given my love for Lovelight I decided to give it another shot. It was enjoyable and I loved revisiting the characters of this quaint small town, but it didn't draw me in like the first one. I liked it, but didn't love it. I do find it odd that the same narrator is used for both books even though they are told from two different character's points of view. Also, I don't think the narrator's voice/tone matches Evelyn at all.

This book reminded me that I do love to think about romance as well as let go and just enjoy it, so I'm very thankful for that!

Also, this is the quickest I've read a book all year and I think there's something to be said for that too.

I think what I love the most about this book is the strong emphasis on both words AND actions being needed to help make a relationship work. Especially between these two people. They're both practical and love to show love through acts of service, but at the end of the day, they need to hear some words of affirmation too. I don't think a lot of romances I read have strong morals of the story like this, and I wish they did! I loved it! Loved the point of view and perspective.

I loved the vibes in Lovelight, but they do not compare to me with the vibes of In the Weeds. A cabin?!?! Are you kidding!?!? Sign me up. And the charm of the small-town vibes is still present here, but I just loved the life Evie and Beckett slowly built for each other. The quiet evenings, the giving back to their community, the flannels on flannels on flannels of it all. When I think of an ideal life for me, I think of something very similar to In the Weeds.

Beckett is hot and Beckett is my #1 book boyfriend of the year so far. I think BK Borison does a phenomenal job in peeling behind the "grumpy" facade of him. Because he isn't grumpy to his core, but instead he has sensory issues so in certain situations he might not be his best self. This is one of my favorite takes on grumpy sunshine because while it might look like that on the surface for both of them, it's actually more nuanced than that. But like, you tell me this book has a capable hot farmer who is practical and a secret soft boi and I say oh so the new love of my life great.

I personally didn't get as much from Evie as I did from Beckett. I did, however, fully appreciate BK Borison's care in showing that Evie loves Lovelight itself and would want to stay not only for Beckett, but for the town and how she feels when she's there. Happiness for her she finds from multiple sources not just a dude, which I love. Also, the beginning of this book is ya know a little bit of convenient writing like she decides to go back to the place where her one night stand lives of course they're going to fall in love, BUT as I said BK Borison does a great job throughout the book showing the reader that she fell in love with the town too!!!

The pond scene f*ck me up forever I love that kinda stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give me twenty of them!

Overall this book inspired a ton of passion in reading, which I haven't felt in a VERY long time, so it's definitely right time, right book.

If you want a cozy, comfy, sweet with some solid spice romance series, Lovelight is a more than solid option!!
