Review for 'Christmas In Paris' by Tilly Tennant.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Tilly Tennant, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous

Publication date 21st October 2022.

This is the fifth book I have read by this author. I have previously read 'The Hotel At Honeymoon Station', 'The Cafe At Marigold Marina', 'A Home At Cornflower Cottage' and 'My Best Friend's Wedding' which I highly recommend.

I was originally drawn to this book by its eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that this book is 'A completely gorgeous romantic read that will warm you from head to toe and have you booking a trip to Paris! Fans of Sarah Morgan, Josie Silver and Carole Matthews will be swept away by Christmas in Paris.' I am a huge fan of Carole Matthews so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I am also a huge fan of Tilly and if this is half as good as 'The Hotel At Honeymoon Station', 'The Cafe At Marigold Marina', 'My Best Friend's Wedding' and 'A Home At Cornflower Cottage' it is sure to be a page turning read. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).

This novel consists of 25 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is based in Ely, Cambridgeshire, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿, UK 🇬🇧 and Paris, France 🇫🇷. The bonus for me of books that are partly or fully based in the UK is that I live in the UK and have sometimes visited places mentioned in the book which makes it easier to picture.

This book is written in third person perspective with the main protagonist being Brooke. The benefits of third person perspective are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.

Congratulations Tilly on yet another gorgeous read!!!

This book is very well written with vivid descriptions that helps the reader see and feel the Parisian sights. The cover, title and synopsis suit the storyline perfectly.

This book is a very easy and smooth read. It is a slow burner rather than some of Tilly's faster paced books but I still enjoyed this cute festive story. Once I picked it up I just could not put it down so clear your schedules before starting!! I absolutely loved visiting Paris with Brooke, visiting the markets, seeing the sites and so so much more!! I became completely lost in the stalls discovering all the Beautiful handmade and handcrafted items for sale and I love that Tilly focuses on these types of stalls. I genuinely felt like I had jumped into the pages of this stunning book and went on a stunning holiday myself. I was absolutely devastated when I came to the end and had to unpack my suitcase. It wasn't just Paris though but Paris at Christmas. This book will definitely start getting you ready to get the Christmas tree out and humming Christmas Carols!! This book is filled with love, loss, friendships, festivities, magical sparkles and everything you could hope for in a festive romance. It is just beautifully written and Tilly captures the festive sparkle perfectly!!

This would make an absolutely gorgeous movie that I would love to see made!!! This book is a sweet rom com which will have you feeling warm and fuzzy inside at times and yet screaming and shouting at certain people at other times. The atmosphere was gorgeous and I loved the setting. It made this book a perfect read anywhere and anytime from on the beach in the middle of the day or curled up in fire in the middle of the night.

The characters were are well defined, strong and realistic. I became completely invested in not only Brooke and Felicity too. I love reading books with strong female protagonists especially ones with beautiful friendships included. I loved Felicity straight away and found her to be a fantastic friend to Brooke. I enjoyed "watching" them both checking out and discovering the Parisian men in the stunning city. I was intrigued to see what Manon and Armand were up to and watching it all unfold before my eyes. To find out the answer you'll just have to pick up a copy of this beauty yourself. Love them or hate them each character played their role in this storyline absolutely perfectly.

Well done Tilly on another great book!!! Here's to your next success 🥂!!!

Overall a gorgeous festive romance that will sweep you off your feet and take you on a gorgeous break away while getting you in the mood for Christmas.

Genres covered in this novel include Romantic Comedy, Romance Novel, Women's Fiction, Contemporary Romance, Comedy, Women's Humorous Fiction, Romantic Comedy and Women's Contemporary Fiction amongst others.

I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of Shari Low, Heidi Swain, Jill Mansel, Jenny Colgan, Holly Martin, Jessica Redland, Sarah Morgan, Josie Silver, Carole Matthews and Nicola May.

413 pages.

This book is just £1.99 to purchase on kindle, free on kindle unlimited (at time of review) and £8.99 in paperback via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

As someone who selects books by their covers, I absolutely love this one!!! Is there anything better than a nice holiday romance set in Paris? What a perfect setting - it is probably my favorite thing about this book!

Brooke and her best friend, Felicity, have a business selling handmade crafts. They had planned to go to Paris for the month of December to sell their goods at the holiday market. But when Brooke’s boyfriend of three years suddenly broke up with her – marrying someone else in a matter of months – leaving her brokenhearted, they decided to go earlier to get some sightseeing in and maybe meet someone to take her mind off the pain.

This book really has me on the fence when it comes to rating it. I feel like the story has a lot of potential but the plot was kind of all over the place. At times it felt like the story was going on forever but at others, I felt there wasn’t enough description of things. It was a little confusing because my kindle showed that I had an hour left of the book so it made it seem as if it abruptly ended (a portion of another book was included).

The characters were relatable but I do wish there was more description with some of them. With the shadiness of a few of the secondary characters, it really keeps you guessing where the story is going to take you!

Overall this is a sweet, heart warming love story.

Thank you to Bookouture, NetGalley and Tilly Tennant for the Advanced Readers Copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!

Brooke seems to have survived the horrible heartbreak after her boyfriend dumped her. What she needs is a Christmas escape and there is no better place than Paris. The snow is falling beautifully on the romantic city of love, but she is determined to not fall in love. But when Brooke meets Armand with his amazing smile, she gets butterflies when he looks at her. The more time they spend together at romantic dinners and kisses at the top of the Eiffel Tower, she can’t control her heart. When Armand begins keeping things from Brooke, and lying to her, she can’t help but think that her second chance may just be another mistake. However, the spirit of Christmas may be exactly what she needs.

Oh my goodness this story of heartbreak, and second chances was absolutely perfect. I adored the detailed description of Paris in the winter Christmas season. I could almost feel the snow falling on my face as I looked up at the Eiffel Tower. The Christmas lights with romance in the air was perfect. The hustle and bustle of the season was so heartwarming. Each café was filled with love and laughter of the people enjoying their time together. This quick read had an amazing flow to the story and my heart went out to Brooke as she tried to find her place in life. The ending was perfect and I love that the author put the sport of Christmas joy right into my hands. I read this story in one sitting and I highly recommend this charming and festive read.

Thank you Tilly Tennent for such a wonderful, cozy Christmas romance. This lovely little story was so delightful and I thoroughly enjoyed your book. This is a definite must read.

Christmas in Paris is a lovely story. The setting alone makes it a story to fall in love with and the realistic, well written and relatable characters made it a pleasure to read. I'm not normally a romance reader but I do love Tilly Tennants books and this one is no exception. I highly recommend Christmas in Paris.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.

After having her heart broken by the man she always envisioned marrying, Brooke and her best friend Felicity decide to extend their trip to Paris. They are going there to sell homemade recycled goods at a Parisian Christmas market. The extra time will allow them to do much more sightseeing. The trip will be a good distraction for Brooke who has been trying her best to avoid her newly married, loved up ex and his bride.

While in Paris, they both meet up with potential new love interests......but with both Manon and Armand blowing hot and cold with the girls, will anything ever come of it?

I loved the friendship between Brooke and Felicity, they are both such likeable characters too. The descriptions of Paris were just breath-taking. I almost felt like I was there with them.

I think we would all love a rich well-connected cousin like Fabien to secure us bookings in all the best places in Paris!

I got really engrossed in the story and was really sad when it ended.

This is my definition of a perfect Christmas read!

This was a cute, heart-warming story. It’s set at Christmastime in Paris and follows two best friends from England as they open up shop at a prominent Parisian Christmas market to sell their handmade goods. Brooke has just gotten her heart broken by her long-term boyfriend who quickly met and married someone new, so she’s not looking for any romance or anything other than growing her business in Paris. But that all changes when she bumps into a handsome stranger in the midst of having a “damsel in distress” moment. Their relationship blossoms quickly and there are bumps along the way - but all the while Brooke knows this could never be long term, since she’s just in Paris short term.

I enjoyed reading this, it felt like I was exploring Paris myself - and since I’ve never been, this was a real treat. The romance between Brooke and Armand takes quite a while to get started, so I found the beginning to be a bit slow on the romance front, but this was mended by the very detailed descriptions of Paris and all of its famous landmarks. Once the romance did pick up, it escalated quickly and had me rooting for the couple. I was really happy that Brooke finally got the happy ending she’d been longing for since the very first page. It was a lovely story with a happy and satisfying ending. If you’re looking to explore Paris on a budget, definitely pick this book up!

An exceptional feel-good read by Tilly Tennant. A compelling story-line, and realistic characters with a christmassy setting.

Ahhhh traditional Christmas markets... aren't they just magical places? Tilly really does capture the magic and romance of the Christmas Markets in Paris and I could really envisage the smells and feels of the place, especially the cold and that feeling when you've got a cup of warm hot chocolate or mulled wine in your hand. One thing I really enjoy about Christmas markets is seeing the handmade and handcrafted objects that you can't find in the mainstream shops and high-street and this is what Tilly has focused on, I think it's this that adds that extra bit of charm and cosiness to the story.

Brooke and Felicity are really fab characters and their friendship is the main tie in this book, you just know that they're both there for each other no matter what and that this is a friendship that not only has, but will continue to, stand the test of time. They are both tested in this book and I have to say that I had my doubts about both of their love interests, but mainly Manon as I didn't trust her at all. When it came to Armand I wasn't 100% sure as he seemed absolutely lovely - I mean he had me at cheese fondue!!! - but there was that niggling question that he wasn't laying all of his cards on the table. Like Brooke I was sure that something was going to go wrong at some point...

This was a charming story with great characters and a fantastic setting that has left me thinking of Christmas Markets, chilly nights, hot chocolates and cheese fondue - it's a Christmas tradition for us and I am so ready for it! Now I just need to get reading more of Tilly's work, and most of them are on Kindle Unlimited which is amazing!

'A delightfully charming, Parisian Christmas romance story with plenty of oh-la-la, festive feels and tidings of comfort and joy' -TheBritishBibliophile

When you're a sucker for a good Christmas romance novel like I am, you grab one no matter what time of year it is. I grabbed Christmas in Paris by Tilly Tennant back in September after deciding to dive into something different to what I was currently reading at the time, and it had the appeal that draws me to Christmas romance novels, so I was very much looking forward to discovering the story within the pages.

Plus, I haven't had the pleasure of reading anything by Tilly at that point in time, so I had the added bonus of discovering a new author (to me) and their work.

Christmas in Paris promised a festive romance in the heart of the city of romance itself, Paris. Only, the girl going to Paris is keen to avoid the very thing the city is perhaps known for the most, among other things. So, what does fate decide to do? Throw the very thing she's not aiming to achieve, right in front of her. Literally. Dumped by her long-time boyfriend, Brooke and her friend set up shop in the centre of Paris at a Christmas festival, hoping to achieve their goals and make the season as merry as they possibly can, before turning back for England's green and pleasant land once their time was up.

Determined to make this trip about her (and her friend), Brooke might be swayed by the delicious offerings that come her way--namely, hot chocolate--but will she be swayed by the biggest thing her head and heart have locked themselves firmly away from? A man. More specifically, a handsome, suave, dashingly brave Frenchman with an accent guaranteed to make a woman swoon? All bets are off, on that one. Armand, the man in question, in hindsight is only temporary--or is he?

Seeing nothing other than a temporary--and very NOT permanent--arrangement with him, Brooke's head was turned when Armand opened his heart to a her when, even if she denies it, she very much needed someone to do that. Kissing her at the top of the Eiffel Tower most likely sealed the deal, thus Brook deciding to take the plunge while in Paris and soak up all the love while passing the Louvre with Armand. See what I did there?

However, all good things either come to and end or aren't as they seem. Soon the shine of the temporary romance with Armand wears off when the man himself starts to blow hot and cold. Not something Brooke can deal with, given the way things went down with her now ex. But how does she confront a man about it who she has no right to ask him why he is blowing hot and cold? She'll soon be back in England, and his life is here in France. She starts to wonder if she's been taken for a fool or rather perhaps, if she's the fool for caving into what she was trying to resist in the first place when she and her friend first came to Paris.

Brooke must overcome all her fears and thoughts running through her head--especially about the mysterious blonde that floats around her, watching her--, get on with her goals and with her stall. Only, is this possible when Armand out of the blue, leaves her in Paris without as much as a goodbye or an explanation as to where he is going?

Christmas in Paris is a holiday romance that delivers a story that is anything but boring or dull. Moments within this book will indeed warm you from head to toe both in terms of the swoon-worthy moments between Brooke and Armand, as well as the numerous foods and beverages they consume. Not to mention, you won't be able to guess what comes next. As much as it is about love, Paris is also a city full of mystery and allure, and that's what you'll get in spades in this novel.

Ce livre était merveilleux ! 4 stars!

Nice enough read, with a lovely, deep focus on Paris and its environment, but very middling for me in terms of content.

Brooke was a likeable character, but it took me a while to warm to her because she came off as a little desperate and self-pitying. I enjoyed the friendship dynamic between her and Felicity is heartwarmingly written, but ultimately it's not why I came to the book. I came from the romance, and it annoyed me that I was over half way through the book before the romance started to really build between the two characters - the pace was too slow and focus was placed too heavily on Brooke's friendship with Felicity and describing their Parisien surroundings.

I struggled to find the chemistry between the two love interests as well. The writing gave no real hint that either of them seemed particularly engaged in the relationship, therefore it was hard for me to engage in it.

Christmas in Paris is a pretty clean, slow-burn pretty clean romance. It's a cute story, and is definitely worth the read. I can relate to Brooke in many ways, but there were a lot of things in this book that are very realistic and very complicated, which made it all the more realistic.

In the end, Brooke makes a decision that I feel was completely justified even though she ends up regretting her actions based on the decision. I think it's very adult though how the situation is handled following everything (can't give more details than that or they'll be spoilers!).

The only critique I have about this book is that the ending felt a bit rushed. Maybe that's because Kindle said I still had about an hour of reading, so the ending felt like it was sudden to me, but maybe not.

Overall, I gave Christmas in Paris by Tilly Tennant 3.5 ⭐ (rounded up to 4 on Goodreads). Tilly has many other books that I'm sure are just as good and many are set around Christmas, so I'm sure I'll be picking up another of Tilly's books to read in the future.

3.5 stars
This a sweet fun read from Tilly Tennant. I loved exploring Paris with Brooke and Felicity. The landmarks so well known were described beautifully and I thought the Christmas market sounded just wonderful - I could just imagine the little chalets with the smells of coffee and food to tempt. The relationships between Felicity and Manon, Brooke and Armand added a little intrigue to the story as we follow the two women on their search for a little fun in the French capital.

Months after being brutally dumped by her fiend of a boyfriend, Brooke still mourns. Her good friend, Felicity, drags her to Paris so they can sell their wares at the Christmas market. Will Brooke give the City of Lights a chance to bring light back in her life.
I’m.loved the location! Paris is a bedazzling city and at Christmas, it becomes even more special.
One of the best scenes takes place at the Eiffel Tower, naturally.
I wasn’t quite convinced the two friends would have been able to afford Paris, but that’s why it’s fiction.
My favorite character Fabien. He was depicted as slightly shady but he came through so many times for Felicity and Brooke. He was a bandit with a big heart.

After being dumped by her boyfriend, Brooke thinks Paris is the perfect place to forget about him. With her friend and business partner, Felicity, they decide to prolong their business trip, and Brook meets Frenchman Armand, and he makes her heart skip a beat.
This was a warm and cozy romance, enjoyable and easy read. The descriptions of Paris were amazing (there is even a Christmas market!). I also loved the friendship between the two women.
I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Loved this book smmm 🌲❤️

This is a nicely paced read, following the MC Brooke, who was dumped by her ex at Chapter 1, as she goes to Paris with her bff to sell their wares in a market, and who has a whirlwind romance with a guy she meets there. The story gave proper amounts of time for her to process the breakup and move on with her life on her own, so that was fun. We also get to see a lot of Brooke and her bff Felicity, and I really loved their friendship. I loved seeing all the simple romantic gestures between Brooke and Armand, and the third act breakup and getting back together was done beautifully. Also, the epilogue!! A perfect hea ❤️

Nice, quick holiday read. The Paris scenery is described so well that I felt like I was there.

Brooke is getting ready to leave for Paris with her business partner and friend Felicity shortly after she watches her ex-boyfriend get married. She's not really looking for a new relationship in Paris, but she is open to it when one finds her. But is she ready?

Sweet story that you can savor with a cup of hot chocolate on a snowy day.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

Love Tilly Tenant books. Brooke goes to Paris after being dumped by her boyfriend. She meets a handsome Frenchman and decides to see how things go. Brilliant descriptions of Paris.

🗼Move over April for an eventful December in the City of Lights!

This is a light read with lots of nods to Paris attractions. Two British women selling their crafts at an iconic Paris Christmas market find both good and bad experiences to take home after the holidays. Romance and fun times sampling the sights, food and drink compete with some danger, threats and vandalism that threatens their fun and business. I thought there were plenty of elements to keep my interest, though some of the characters just lend an air of unease and mystery.

The romance is closed door and sweet, loyalties and friendship are tested and there are just enough stumbling blocks to maintain a bit of suspense. Overall it's a good story and, without question, the Paris setting is a key part of that. And kudos to author Tilly Tennant for bringing in a bit of the seedy side of Paris. No, Virginia, not everyone in Paris lives in luxury!

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Poorly written and jammed with too much of everything-none of it enjoyable. Save your money and give it a pass.

Thank you for the ARC Netgalley! Unfortunately, I was unable to finish this book. I found myself not really caring about the characters and if I read the word "Boo" one more time?!? #NotForMe
