It’s Morgan’s birthday and she is ready to have a night out with her partner Ben. But Police work is never 9-5 and Ben is called to the death of a young girl whose body is found in the local church yard at Rydal Falls. Her hair has been cut off and she is covered in a white sheet. While Morgan is waiting for Ben, she gets roped into the investigation.
When Morgan attends the autopsy, they find out that the body is of a sixteen-year-old that has been missing for weeks. But the girl has only been dead a few hours. So where has she been? She also has sand on her feet and petals from a flower that is only grown on a nearby island Morgan goes to investigate.
She then hears that another girl has gone missing, Milly who is a nurse the nearby old peoples home that Morgan has met. Such a happy Smiley girl. Her first thought is the local new vicar that has recently arrived at the church where the first body is found. As her first instincts say that there is something not right about him. She needs to find Milly and fast before she ends up dead.
Thank you Bookoutre for a copy of Silent Angel from Helen Phifer. This is the seventh book in the Detective Morgan Brooks series and for me this is another 5-star read. This is another fast-paced unputdownable thriller, with lots of twists and turns. and I especially love the character of Morgan she is not afraid of getting stuck in and not afraid to get into dangerous situations. This is a great read 5 stars from me.

When a young girl's body is found dumped in the local graveyard Morgan and the team face a race against time to find a deranged killer.

With high tension, drama and twists galore this is a fast paced thriller.

This book had me hooked from the start and with the shocking events it was shaping up to be the best one by far. But. The ending for me was a total anti climax. It seemed far too rushed and left too many questions unanswered for me.

I still look forward to the next one as I've really enjoyed the previous books in the series.

Having not heard or read Helen Phifer before this novel was a good surprise. It starts with a murder in a graveyard adjoining the local church and Morgan Brookes a detective constable along with her boss who she is having an affair with attended the gruesome scene. Turns out that the poor girl is 16yrs old Shea Wilkinson and is pretty with long blonde hair that has been hacked why? has the killer got some sort of fetish?
All while investigating, the local priest seems dodgy always around quietly popping up and poking his nose in making officers uneasy, and along with another colleague another woman goes missing, the same sort of description as the last can the team find her before it's too late?.
The story went along at a good pace and did have me wondering what next.
This author certainly deserves a read and will look forward to be reading another of her novels again.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy to read and review, and this review is entirely my own personal view.

Silent Angel is the 7th book in the Detective Morgan Brookes series, and once again Helen did not disappoint! I’ve been a big fan of this series and was excited to be selected for this newest addition!

Morgan and Ben are off to celebrate Morgan’s birthday when they are called to the scene of a body found. They discover it’s the body of a 17 year old who’s been missing for several week, and the book just keeps you guessing in a who done it whirlwind as another girl goes missing. I thought I had it figured it out several times but Helen kept me guessing until the big reveal. I couldn’t put this book down, especially towards the end. I felt like one storyline was left unresolved, and I don’t know if that will continue in the next novel, or if it was just dropped, so I’d like to see if that has any resolution eventually.

Thank you NetGalley, bookouture and Helen phifer for my ACR!

This book was intense - in a good way! This is the first I’ve picked up in the series, and it was fine reading it as a standalone. I’ll likely go back and read the previous books for pleasure, as I took a liking to Morgan. I like that she is written as a tough woman, but her vulnerability shows through. It makes the story that much more interesting when we see her making mistakes, or regretting a split second decision. The book was very fast paced, until the very end - there isn’t much floof at the end, and leaves you wanting more. Look forward to reading the next books in the series! Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to provide my honest review.

When a young girl's body is found in a ditch next to a church in Rydal Falls detectives are called to investigate led by DS Ben Matthews and DC Morgan Brookes. When the body is identified as a seventeen-year-old called Shea Wilkinson who had been abducted from Blackpool they were puzzled why she had been dumped in Rydal Falls. Morgan Brookes is suspicious of Theo the new Vicar who seems to be acting strange then another girl is taken locally, and Des a member of the Police team disappears.
This is another great read by Helen Phifer which leaves you waiting for the next book in the series. I loved it.

This is one hell of a rollercoaster of a read. Another heart stopping tour de force of a crime thriller from a very talented author and one of my favourites. I had no idea who the killer was until the big reveal and I was shocked and speechless. This author has done it again and another MUST READ!!!!!
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in return for giving an honest review.

This is another very good read by Helen Phifer in the well written Morgan Brookes series, but can read easily as a stand alone. The setting and character development is excellent, with the team dynamics being very relatable, during the investigation of a dead body found in a local churchyard. It's a fast paced, suspenseful read, filled with plenty action and surprises. I hope there is more to come from Morgan in this series. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

I dont know how many times I can write this but this lady is wonderful. It is sometimes scary how she comes up with the ideas and plots for the books but they are always believable and realistic.....you can almost smell the blood (yuck). Love how the relationship between Morgan and Ben is progressing (wonder if we will get a wedding soon???) and how she leads you into suspecting poor innocent characters whilst the real murderer is always right there. Hopefully if i ever go to the Lake District again and run into Morgan as it seems that trouble follows her around or does she just attract it???
Well done Helen on another marvellous book and heres to the next :)

When the body of a teenage girl turns up at the church yard, Morgan and Ben won’t be getting their night out. Who could have done this heinous crime? Morgan and Ben face the toughest case of their career when another girl goes missing. Could it be one of their own?
Yet again Helen knocks it out of the park with this one. I’m already excited for the next book. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.

When a teenage girl who has been missing for weeks turns up murdered in the churchyard, Morgan and her boss/boyfriend are called in to investigate. Another teen goes missing and they are determined to find her before they are too late. Suspicion falls on one of the team, are they missing and guilty?

So many suspects, twists and turns right to the end. I couldn’t put this down and was as to be finished as I really enjoyed it. (Can’t wait for the next instalment!)

This series is so good! Absolutely detest Ben’s boss Marc-the sign of a well written character. Slimy, nasty and definitely guilty of something!

All of the main characters are so likeable and their relationships well thought out and written. The team dynamics work well and draw you in.

Highly recommend -5 stars!

Silent Angel is the seventh book in the Detective Morgan Brookes series. This is possibly my favourite, having read them all. Morgan is once again in the thick of things. Rydale Falls has never had so many murders since Morgan became detective. It’s a thrilling story with plenty of twists and turns. A terrific ending, I can’t wait for the next book. I must add, I love Morgans aunt Ettie!
Thank you to Netgalley and the author for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Just perfect really! I'm a massive fan of the author and this didn't disappoint. I've not read the entire series prior but it didn't take away any enjoyment from the book. I loved the characters and the how well rounded n complex they are. There were twists and turns a plenty ad per usual and I ended up shutting out the world and just spending a day completely lost I the story. Its really well paced and keeps up the tempo the whole way through. The ending was a bit messy but we can overlook that lol. A must read for thriller fans and I'm off to download the rest of the series asap

Great book, seventh in the Detective Morgan Brookes series. Morgan and fellow detective’s search for a young woman’s killer, while investigating the disappearance of fellow officer Des and another young woman, Milly.
I was glued to the pages and couldn’t stop reading. Another awesome book by Helen Phifer! I’ve read many of her books and they do not disappoint.

Action packed as always. As a standalone book it's great, as part of a series the drama Morgan gets into is becoming a bit farcical and it takes away from what otherwise are good stories. This ended a bit abruptly too, it didn't sit well, it felt like lots of things went unexplained.
