I would give this book 3 1/2 stars. It was a nice and quick read with a fast pace. There was nothing wrong with it, but it just wasn't anything special.

A series I love. The characters are easy to care about, the plots always different. Could probably be read as standalone books, but I've read them in order ever since I discovered the first book and am always impatient for the next! The twists keep you guessing and I have to admit to the odd tear at one stage in this book, but I'm not spoiling the plot by saying why

When the body of a teenage girl is found in Rydal Falls’ churchyard, Detective Morgan Brookes abandons her own birthday to attend the scene. In the dim evening light, Morgan can just make out the girl wrapped in a pristine white sheet and is certain she’s been left here for them to find.
The autopsy identifies the girl as sixteen-year-old Shea Wilkinson, and Morgan’s heart cracks with sorrow. The beautiful teenager has been missing for weeks, could she have been suffering all this time? When she learns the sand on Shea’s feet is from a nearby island, Morgan leaves immediately, determined to find the killer’s hiding place and stop them in their tracks.
Book 7 in the series and it’s a nail-biting thriller that grips to the very last page! An atmospheric, taut thriller which keeps you hooked from the first page!

Same old Morgan different cases

Morgan and Ben are called to the church graveyard where a body was discovered in a ditch. While the team searches for the murderer, another girl goes missing. One of their own is missing and the search is on, before time runs out.

A few new characters make an appearance, and I liked what they added to the team. I don't know if they will be back, but some guest appearances would be nice.

Yes, Morgan again gets stuck with the killer even though she tries her best and everyone around her is warning her and watching for her. She just can't help it; she is a danger magnet.

If you haven't read Morgan Brookes, I highly recommend this series. You could start this series here at book #7, but I feel it would ruin a lot. You wouldn't be lost if you did though.

I didn't mention Declan yet, but he is one of the kindest souls to deal with the dead I have ever read. He has the most caring bedside manner.

Love Morgan Brookes, and you will too!

Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and Helen Phifer.

Birthdays are supposed to be a celebration, spent with loved ones, and maybe there'll be presents and cake, as well. Detective Morgan Brookes does get to spend her special day with her loved ones but also with everyone else at the crime scene they've been called to rather than at the pizza restaurant with just her partner, Ben.

Their victim had been missing for a while but Morgan hadn't given up hope of finding her until she arrived at the scene. After new clues are discovered, Morgan and Ben, who is also her boss, begin to widen their search but with problems mounting outside the investigation they can't risk losing their focus. As others are reported missing and the stresses and responsibilities are threatening to overwhelming the team they all know failure is not an option.

This is such a good series, book one was brilliant and every installment since has been of an equally high standard or even better! This time I was left open mouthed on numerous occasions and desperately needing to know what would happen next but not wanting it to end.

There is such a familiarity with the main protagonists and location now that it is easy to slip into Morgan’s world from the very first page. This doesn't however mean there are no surprises and with the ever evolving back stories I hope there will be more to come in this excellent series before too long.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. The entire series are first class reads and all are highly recommended.

I’ll say it again…I really enjoy this quirky series. Being from the US I find some of the language so fun and different. And I love Morgan…she’s smart, sassy and I can’t wait for more. I found the end a bit rushed but all in all a really good fast paced read!

This is a nail biting thriller that will keep you in suspense until the end! Detective Morgan Brookes is back again!

Shea Wilkinson has been missing for weeks, last seen at the MacDonalds in another town. Her body was found near the church. Detective Morgan Brooke starts investigating the case when she gets a phone call that another girl named MIlly goes missing. Milly was last seen talking to a colleague of Morgan when she disappeared.

The thriller was fast paced and the author knows how to put the reader on the edge. I really had a great time reading Morgan Brooke series and so this book did not disappoint me as a result. There were twists and turns, and the ending was unexpected as well. This kind of gave me a serial killer vibe as well and I do like the fact that the infamous American serial killers like Ted Bundy and BTK killers are mentioned in this book. Overall, this book gave me a thrill ride along the way and I cannot wait for the next book of the Morgan Brooke series!

If you are looking for a fast paced unputdownable thriller, then I highly recommend this book. If you have not started on the series yet, then I recommend you to start reading Morgan Brooke series as I can assure you, the series will give you a thrill ride! Worth five stars!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.

Detective Morgan Brookes has her birthday time with Ben interrupted by a murder call -- a body of a missing young woman is discovered in a church graveyard. Shocked by the state of the body, the team realizes that there is a violent criminal loose in their town. When another young woman goes missing, along with a member of the team, Morgan pulls out all stops to solve the crimes. Is the new handsome priest the culprit or maybe the missing member of the team? It's an exciting read with an unexpected ending.

I used to read the blurbs of every book before I decided to buy/read them. I stopped doing this a while ago. Why? There are several things to answer this question with. I sometimes find blurbs too revealing. I don’t want half the book told on the back cover. Sometimes I find it too confusing, so I left those on the shelf too.

There is one thing that works for me each and every time and that is the front cover. In the first place it’s the image that has to attract my attention. If that activates something in my brain, it’s a winner. I was never disappointed. If I loved the image, I loved the book. The title  is the second thing I look at. If the image and title are a match made in heaven, I am a happy camper and if the author is a favourite one I do a little happy dance. If the author is new to me, I do a happy dance too. 😊😉

So one look at this book and I was in. A church is often creepy, especially at night and when it’s surrounded by fields and nothingness. And the title ‘Silent Angel’… Well, that says enough. 😊

Last but not least the author. She created an amazing series with Morgan Brookes as one of the main characters and each part is a winner.

Morgan herself is a winner too. Saving victims, catching killers… those are two goals she has to achieve. Putting herself in danger? No problem as long as she can close a case with a positive outcome.

I love the closeness of the small police team. They all have each other’s back. There is one rotten apple though. I had the feeling and hope they would have adapted and fitted in now with the rest of them, but I sadly he does not see the light yet. 😉

Abduction and murder are central in this story, but love and friendship play a big part too.

Morgan Brookes is not a traditional police officer, but you just have to love her. She is great. 5 stars

Thank you

I love love love Helen Phifer. I have to say Helen is an author that never disappoints and every book gets better and better.

I adore Morgan, as a reader of the series- we’ve been on a rollercoaster together. Morgan is likeable, realistic and an independent, fiery female character. We also get to revisit Ben (who has a small part of my heart).

Silent Angel is a book that will capture your attention and pull you in completely. I have been held hostage by this book. It’s not unusual for me to devour a book by Helen in one sitting, yet I think I hit a new record with this one.

The discovery of a body in a churchyard starts off our journey through this gem. I have to admit, I was convinced I knew who was guilty so have been pleasantly shocked at how this has played out.

As well as having the serious element of young girls going missing, there has been a scene with Ben, Morgan and the cat which has made me laugh out loud. I have loved it because it adds a sense of normality to the pages.

Whilst I adore the team, I have to admit I have taken a dislike to Morgan’s big boss! I just don’t know what his problem is and hopefully we will get to find out.

Silent Angel is perfectly paced. You are given enough clues to try to predict where this may go. I have been transported to the pages once again and always love a Morgan Brooke’s adventure.

Another absolute gem and one that I will be highly recommending to everyone.

DC Morgan Brookes is back - it’s Morgan’s Birthday but her date with Ben is put on hold when the body of a teenager is found at a local church. This is another fast paced read. The hits keep on coming for Morgan and her team in this one and it is unlikely the team will ever been the same again.
If you are looking for great police procedurals with a side of romance and being stressed out at the predicaments Morgan finds herself in, this series is for you! Highly recommend this series.

You'd think when an author is writing a series of Detective novels that at some point there is no more to write about. But this is certainly not the case with Helen Phifer books she draws on her experiences of working in a police team to give us proper police procedures and a thrilling, nervy story every time.
Read in one sitting because I needed to know what was happening in this latest Morgan Brookes story. I was not disappointed, although surpised and shocked in places ( when you read it you'll know which bit I mean)
Sure to be another bestseller for Helen I loved it

Congratulations Helen Phifer for writing another 5-star Morgan Brookes novel. I love every page of Silent Angel! I follow the Detective Morgan Brookes series, but the books can also be enjoyed as stand-alones.
