This book had everything I look for in a historical romance. There was chemistry, humor, hidden identity, intrigue, and family. I especially liked how interesting the danger was. It involved numerous families and victims and was well developed, rather than just an excuse to add some excitement to the story. While the secondary villain was a bit obvious, the book was still pretty suspenseful. Calan and Allissaid, and even the secondary characters, were very emotionally complex, and I found myself caring for them more than I usually care for book characters.

Calan's mother and sister were so sweet and loving, and I'm rather interested in knowing what happens to Calan's sister in the future. There was such tenderness in this novel, which I much prefer over the rough, emotionally cold tone to some Highland stories. However, my primary complaint was that while it was obvious that Calan cared for Allissaid, sometimes I questioned if it was due to her being a damsel in distress or because he actually loved her. Both main characters often talked about how they thought they loved each other or thought they may love each other in the future, but that they weren't completely certain of their feelings. Though this was eventually resolved at the very end, I find it unappealing when the hero and heroine are so unsure of their feelings for one another for such a long period of time.

Overall, this was a passionate and exciting historical romance. I recommend it to those who enjoy stories full of heart and family.

Thank you to Lynsay Sands and Net Galley for this arc. The book was great and it's always fun when characters from other books visit. This is one of my favorite authors and I always enjoy her books. My only compl6is that the end came to quick, I thought there would have been a little more content, but the last few chapters were dedicated to a re-release of an older book

Who doesn't love a highland romance?
This is the first book I have read by the author and it was worth every moment. I was swept away from page one. We do not give romance authors enough credit for the historical work/history they put into their novels. She made me feel as though I was in the highlands! The book can be read alone, but I will be going back to buy the ten prior books after completing this one. The book details feudal clans in Scotland. The Heroine has been abducted in attempt to force a marriage and is horribly abused before being rescued by the Campbell Laird. He carries her back to his keep and nurses her back to health and falls in love along the way. The hero was quiet, and somewhat shy but strong . There is a lot of intrigue and drama and tender sweet moments as they find love during her recovery. They find how much alike they are and love slowly grows. The romance blooms in front of your eyes and warms your heart. She has a way of writing that pulls you so deep into the story that you are fully vested in their relationship. HIGHLY recommend!

I love this series and I was so looking forward to this next book. It did not disappoint! I think this one felt like a slow burn more than any other book in the series but I really enjoyed it. Calan and Allisaid are both loveable, and their romance is so sweet. I wish that the ending didn't feel so rushed though. I feel like the climax or resolution to the conflict could have been drawn out a bit more and I still would have loved it! I will most likely check back once the final is out to see if there's an epilogue or maybe an additional chapter. As the book is currently it feels like a very abrupt end. Also if I was sad that book 10 was not about Alick Buchanan, book 11 only teased me even more!!! I knew it wasn't Alick's story but seeing a beloved character pop up in these books over and over again has me desperate for his story! Content warnings for rape, and physical abuse. Also a spoiler in the beginning of the book that relates to book 10.

A very strong four star read! I loved the progression of Allie and Calan’s relationship, how they were slowly growing to care for one another. The writing flowed seamlessly as always.

Somewhere between 3.5 and 4 stars - I look forward to my Lynsay Sands historical hit every year, and this one delivered as it always does! This entry in the Highland Brides series focused more on the character development and romance than some in the series do, with the mystery/suspense taking somewhat of a backseat, which I think was a nice change in the overall pacing of the series. I find this series so cozy... now I just have to wait til next year to get another one

I really enjoyed this one, which for how many are in the series it still comes as a surprise sometimes about how good they are.

This story picks up right where Highland Wolf ended basically, which makes this series a great binge series if you want some outstanding reads. I so excited to see some of the tie in with the Buchanan's from earlier in the series. As soon as I was done reading this one I went back and started on a couple of their stories. Allisaid is a witty, strong character who doesn't push the reader away. You understand why her walls are their and why she is protecting herself. Calan is as cinnamony roll as you can get for a highlander, and he is wonderful to Allisaid and his whole family.

I love highlander stories and this is a great example of that. Allissaid was captured, beaten within an inch of her life, escapes and is rescued by Calan. Keeping her safe is his highest priority, then strong attractions come into play and the heart becomes involved. The danger is still present but he will do anything to keep her safe. There is a lot of action in this story which kept my attention along with the budding romance that has a HEA. There are some tense moments that could have had a bad outcome but didn’t. I truly enjoyed the story and would highly recommend it as a great read.

Super cute, a nice, simple, classic Highlander romance. Complete with kidnapping and kilts. A nice romantic way to spend time.

A huge fan of the author (and this genre). The book opens where Highland Wolf ended. The book follows her usual writing pattern yet, as usual, adds some twists. I found the romance to be gentle as well as fierce and I was rooting for the hero! As always, glad to see the Buchanan's and the ties with this character.

I look forward to the next installment in this long running series.

In Her Highlander’s Bed
By Lynsay Sands

This is a wonderful story of intrigue, betrayal, deception, and love. Calan, Laird of the Campbell clan is taking a swim in the loch near his home when he sees a lad stealing his clothes. Tackling the youth, he realizes it’s a woman and she’s been beaten to within an inch of her life. Allissaid MacFarlane has escaped a forced marriage to her clan’s enemy and is on the run back home. She managed to get out, albeit without her clothes. Seeing a knight swimming, she decides she needs his plaid more than he does but doesn’t get away from him. Since she is unconscious, Calan carries the lady back to his keep and cares for her. When she awakes, she’s not sure whether Calan is friend or foe, so she pretends to have amnesia. Thus begins a lovely highland romance. Filled with intrigue and suspense we find there is betrayal and deception where we least expect it. Allissaid learns to trust Calan and understand the feelings he awakens in her. Together Calan and Allissaid, along with their families overcome evil.

I love reading Lynsay Sands! Her stories always captivate me from the beginning and hold onto me well past the last page. In classic Lynsay Sands style, the dialogue is witty, the love scenes are hot, and the villain is dealt with for a HEA! Allissaid is witty, smart, and brave, and Calan is a swoon-worthy highland warrior, protecting the intelligent, sexy woman he’s fallen in love with. It is also fun to see cameos of characters from previous books. This is the 11th book in the Highland Brides series and each one is better than the last. It can be read as a stand-alone but is loosely connected with the other books in the series. I recommend this book and the entire series. I received an arc through NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

This was my first Lynsay Sands and I wasn't sure what to expect: I loved it!

The prologue had spoilers for the previous book I think so I'd recommend reading that first, and it had a lot of clan politics that was a tad hard to keep up with, I'm guessing it would again help to read previous books. Anyway.

This book had fake amnesia, forced proximity, sick bed scenes, and a grunty highland laird. I swoon.

While there is a kidnapping and take-over-the-land plot, the book was driven by the developing relationship between Allisaid and Calan. Allisaid escapes a kidnapping and is rescued by Calan who tends her wounds while trying to figure out who she is and how she got there. I love that while Calan is a grunty laird he isn't quick to accuse her of anything and rationally thinks through every scenario to best deal with this situation, and Allisaid also (mostly) thinks things through and doesn't act stupidly to show us how braaave she is. We really get to see them bond and build intimacy so the romance (though not high heat affair) really pays off and heightens the intimate scenes. Yet through all this, Sands lets the evil plot/threat linger in the background.

I was tense reading some of this because other authors would have Calan immediately accuse and mistrust Allisaid to ratchet up the drama and have Allisaid act rashly to show how how braaave she is. But Sands let them trust each other and surrounded them with caring and loyal characters that added warmth to the book. And while not overtly funny, there were humorous moments that made me smile and added levity.

Loved it. Thank you so much to the publisher for this book!

I thought this was a fun, enjoyable read. There was a really good blend of drama with more light-hearted moments that kept the book feeling really well balanced.

A solid read and a chance to revisit the Buchannans. The heroine of this story is the sister of the heroine of the previous story. Not to worry, this one didn't have weird Cinderella/Dr. Doolittle vibes. The hero from the previous book is still stirring trouble. Our couple is constantly in danger as they face him. The book is full of action. I wish there was a little more romance, but the book is still satisfying for Lynsay Sands' fans.

This was an excellent written story, with developed characters, great pacing, and a very solid happily ever after. I enjoyed the story line's progress and how strong I felt the female main character was through all of her hardships that were bestoyed upon her. I also enjoyed the Calan's personality. I enjoyed the family dynamic that was included in the story, and that they were so supportive and wanting what was best for Allissand and Calan's life together.

I am concerned regarding the timeline of Allissand and Calan's timeline. As a reader I felt sometimes uncomfortable with their physical relationship beginning while she still had bruises and was in pain from her sexual assault that she had ran away from.

This book was an average read for me. I enjoyed the characters and thought the pacing was good. I was hoping for more attachment to the story though. I haven’t read the others in the series and read this one as a stand-alone, so maybe that contributed to the detachment I felt.

Good story. I enjoyed the characters. Is part of a series but I feel it can be read as a stand alone. Took a little bit to get through the story. Not a fast paced book but i enjoyed it.

The story was interchange gable with hundreds of others, only names seemed changed. It was mildly interesting, although I did consider abandoning it several times. I read until the end though.

In Her Highlander's Bed

4 Stars

Lynsay Sands' books are always satisfying to read and In Her Highlander's Bed was definitely a great addition to her Highlander series. However, books don't need to be read in order. What stood out to me is how strong and sassy our heroine, Allissaid, is, and how Calan matched her well with his strength and compassion. I connected well with the characters and liked their family connection.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. It's a well written, historical romance with the witty humor Sand's fans love. Thank you, NetGalley and Avon, for an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Lynsay Sands never disappoints me. In Her Highlander's Bed is the 11th offering in the Highland Brides series. Per usual, you don't need to have read the others to love this, but you'll want to. Sands signature blend of historical romance, spice, and comedy are on full display. Another great Highlander read. I'm already looking forward to the next.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced digital copy to review.
