A fast paced, action and romance one sitting read. It can be read as a standalone within the series. This is Jace's story. They and their love interest have secrets. What will become of them? You'll have to read the book to find out.

There's a lot of potential in 'Rogue Wolf Hunter'. The world-building was well done, leaving me intrigued about the backstory of the battle between supernatural and non-supernatural beings. I liked the contrast of the tropes lifted from noir films and the moral-steadfastness of the main characters. Jace and Frankie were likable characters with realistic moral struggles of their own, outside of their relationship with each other.

The execution of the story left me wanting. There was a lot of repetition. During their POV chapters, Jace & Frankie often dwelled upon their internal experiences or repeated their thoughts on a person or situation multiple times. I would have liked to see more Show than Tell, letting the characters dialogue and action speak louder for them than direct thoughts. Especially since we have two POVs, it would be interesting to see them through each other's eyes, as we the audience learn about the characters with the characters themselves.

I also think more time spent on the serial-killer subplot would have kept me more engaged with the story? There was just a lot going on between that, the struggles with corporate (Chet), Frankie's pack, etc. Narrowing the plot of the story as much as possible, while reducing the presence of some of these elements would have helped the flow of the reading experience.

Thanks to the author and Netgalley for an ARC of this book - I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I firstly have to say that I am a big fan of this author and have read most of her Seven Range Shifters series. I liked the characters in this book and there's plenty of smexy bits to keep one reading.

Overall though, I didn't enjoy this book as much as the others. I thought it lacked the usual world building and I was confused by the characters a bit. The plot just seemed to move too fast.

I liked the chemistry between the two main characters. I would like to read more of the series.

This book started off with a bang, and had no downtime. Jace and Frank have different reasons why they keep their secrets from one another. For instance, Jace's true nature is kept from everyone, while Frank's true identity is with the rest of the rogue Brotherhood to protect her and her pack. The various secrets that Jace and Frank kept from one another kept the pages of the book turning. The twists and turns that kept the pages moving were also fun to read. In the next book, which is called Cold Demon Hunter, I'm excited to find out more about the other characters in the series.

A fast-paced read and doesn't take itself too seriously. The opening of the book introduces us to a lot of action and danger, as well as a bit of sexual tension between the two main characters, Jace and Frank. I liked the story's premise and how it brought out the best in Jace and Frank. I also liked how they have good chemistry, but they seem to have a lot of control over each other.

The camaraderie between Jace and the other members of the Execution Underground team was also fun to read. The banter between them helped break the tension and keep the readers engaged as the group faced various threats. Although I would've liked to see more of the members of the group, I'm expecting to see more of them in the future.

The various characters in the series, such as Jace, the Execution Underground, and the rest of the rogue Brotherhood, will be revealed as the story continues. I was initially expecting a big baddie to be revealed in the book, but it wasn't that. Overall, I liked the first book in the series, and I'm excited to see what the rest of the characters will be like. The characters in the book are likable, and I'm hoping to see more of them in the future.

I am a big fan of paranormal romance so I am always on the lookout for something new. I fell into Rogue Wolf Hunter. I didn't realize that this is a re-release of a previous book because I hadn't heard about this series when it first came out but I am so glad that I read it now. Jace McCannon is a hunter. He works for a branch of the government hunting the paranormals that break human laws. What leads him to Rochester is a paranormal that has been killing and raping women in a horrific manor. Jace crosses paths with local werewolf packmaster Frankie Amato and she soon comes to realize that she and Jace will bring an end to the killings if they work together rather than going at it alone. Jace has always been a loner. He has a lot of personal baggage and his attraction to Frankie is not something that he wants or needs...or does he need her? Jace has always known that he is different but is he pack or something more? Rogue Wolf Hunter was good. I got lost in the story of otherworldly beings and the drama that surrounds them. It was told from dual POV and was steamy, suspenseful, twisted and kept me turning the pages! looking forward to more of the Rogue Brotherhood.

3.5-4 Stars

I’ve only read one other book by Kait Ballenger, which was Cowboy Wolf Trouble, the first book in her Seven Range Shifters series. I really liked that one and I honestly meant to pick up more in that series, but you know how it goes… so many books, so little time. *sigh* To be honest, I really thought that I had Shadow Hunter, which is the prequel to this series on my Kindle, but I can’t seem to find it. Regardless, thanks to stumbling across Rogue Wolf Hunter, the author and her werewolves are back on my reading radar. 😉

Rogue Wolf Hunter started off with a bang and there was little or no down time from that point on. Both Jace and Frankie have secrets that they are keeping from each other, but for totally different reasons. Jace keeps his true nature from pretty much everyone. Frankie keeps her true identity from Jace and the rest of the Rogue Brotherhood for both her and her pack’s safety. Frankie knows that there is something different about Jace from the beginning.

Frankie and Jace weren’t the only ones with secrets and the twists, turns and revelations kept the pages turning – along with the heat between them. Basically, Rogue Werewolf Hunter had pretty much everything I love about a suspenseful PNR. The Rogue Brotherhood is full of a lot of other paranormal characters that I can’t wait to get to know better. Next up is Cold Demon Hunter.

So in honesty this was a 4 stars for me, but I gave it 5 mainly because the flow of the book was great, there was build up and smexy parts and s good hea. But the story was just somewhat rushed I feel, almost like it was written for a short story but then just kept going. Again, it’s my opinion and I didn’t want to ding the book or author on me just not vibing with the story.

CW: death of parent, child abuse, domestic abuse, violence, sexual assault, murder, guns

Fair warning, this is a re-installment of Twilight Hunter. I had not previously read the other book so I do know if there is anything new. It doesn't feel like there was much change though. There was not much technology present in this book.

I was interested in this one because I know Rochester, NY and the area and I've read Ms. Ballenger's other shifter series. The idea that a wolf shifter and a hunter who was half wolf shifter would come together also interested me. I liked Jace. He had very specific moral lines and stood by them. Frankie was a great character and I think she was a strong pack master. I did like how Frankie weighed her feelings for Jace against what she feels is best for her pack. This whole story was pretty fast-paced. It was great to watch Jace and Frankie learn little things about each other as they moved through the story. I wasn't expecting the twist. I enjoyed this expansion of the Gray Wolf world and the introduced characters. I look forward to reading more about the other characters.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

When Jace and Frankie met, it was not love at first sight...lol and when Jace brings Frankie into his headquarters, he sets off a chain of events that are not in either of their favor.

Jace has his secrets and Frankie has her secrets and they don't trust each other enough to give up those secrets until they get to know each other a little better. Then, they have each other's backs and there is a lot of action, drama, and secrets revealed throughout the book.

They do get their HEA and realize that they are destined for each other as they recognize they are mates. Frankie has to figure out a way to ditch her arranged marriage and they need to find out who is killing all the women. Big reveal at the end so it was hard to put the book down.

3.5 stars-Rogue Wolf Hunter is a steamy paranormal romance featuring an alpha male and an alpha female in an instant lust to fast love plot. Jace McCannon is a hunter of all things supernatural and his latest case has him hunting a murder that seems to be more than just wolf. Frankie Amato as the alpha packmaster feels it’s her responsibility to stop the supernatural ripping up women in her territory. The case throws the hunter and wolf together in a lustful haze that leaves Jace’s roots exposed and on the run from his own organization. Steamy and fast paced, the story is full of spice and action but the characters were not my favorites. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from NetGalley.

What a great start to a new series. This book has an interesting feel to it. It is a combination of mystery, romance, and action with a bit of humor mixed in. That combination made it a page turner for me. The banter is a hoot. I cannot wait to see where this series goes. The characters are great, and the plot is interesting, that is a win-win.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and feeling a bit shocked I've not seen any hype over Kait Ballenger! If you like books like Savage Lands or Shadowshine you'll love this. My preferred term or endearment is now Princess and Jace can come and pay me a visit anytime!

Whilst I can see this is part of a series, it sits well as a stand alone read (although I don't think I can stop at just this one). It's a complete story all on its own, giving us well rounded characters and relationship building. It's got some of the tropes I love: enemies to lovers, do anything to save each other, fated mates plus a nice serving of spice. But it's not just about the smutty scenes either, it has an enjoyable plot that never left me feeling bored.

ROGUE WOLF HUNTER is the first full length novel (second story) in Kait Ballenger’s new paranormal romance series- ROGUE BROTHERHOOD – focusing on an elite group of warriors/hunters who protect humanity from the supernatural beings out to destroy or control the world. This is Jace and Frankie’s storyline. And in true paranormal style, not everyone is as they appear to be. Even the good guys are something ‘more’.

NOTE: ROGUE WOLF HUNTER is the rerelease of the author's 2013 TWILIGHT HUNTER and the Execution Underground Series.

Jace McCannon is on the edge. With a string of unsolved murders that point at a vicious werewolf attack, Jace is the best werewolf hunter the Execution Underground has ever commissioned. His inability to find the ‘werewolf’ responsible for a rash of grizzly murders forces Damon Brock, the leader of the EU to take action. And when the clues begin to add up, Jace will find himself face to face with a female werewolf who is trying to uncover the person responsible as well. Only for Frankie, it is personal. As the pack master of the local werewolf pack, it is her responsibility to ensure the murderer isn’t one of her own.

The relationship between Jace and Frankie begins as Jace captures Frankie hoping to get information about the person responsible for the murders. But Frankie is no ordinary wolf-she is the pack master, alpha and about to enter her ‘once yearly fertile period.’ And Jace is not immune to Frankie’s condition-he is of mixed blood and his ‘other’ half wants to mate. The sexual tension is high as their attraction to one another is over the top: but there is always a caveat and both believe the other made a huge error in judgment.

The storyline focus is on the murders and the person responsible but it also introduces several potential storylines, connections, and the acrimonious relationship between Damon Brock and the other members of the Execution Underground. In the introductory novella to the series Damon found then lost the love of his life and in this, it has transformed his personality and caused rifts in his association with the men who work in the EU.

The story development is fast paced and keeps on course without spreading in too many directions; the characters are as likeable as they are flawed. No one is perfect. The personalities are as diverse as the number of supernatural species introduced into the story-demons, wolves, vampires, fae, beserkers and more.

Kait Ballenger does a magnificent job with ROGUE WOLF HUNTER as she blends a complicated storyline with a building romance and a premise filled with murder, suspense and forbidden attraction.

This is definitely a book where you get exactly what you came for…but not much else. It is a steamy, enemies-to-lovers shapeshifter romance with all the angst you could hope for. I really liked the dynamics between different groups (supernatural and not) and the world in general. There was enough action and mystery to keep the story moving forward, but the tension and attraction between Jace and Frankie overshadows all of it. Unfortunately, Frankie wasn’t the savvy, strong leader I hoped she would be and I found almost all of the characters too abrasive to really develop strong feelings for any of them. There is nothing terribly unexpected or stand-out, but this is a solid shapeshifter romance for those interested in the genre.

After a long time out West, legendary werewolf hunter Jace McAnnon has returned to the streets of Rochester in pursuit of a ruthless supernatural killer. As part of the Execution Underground, it is his sworn duty to protect the innocent from the supernaturals that would harm them. However, his investigation quickly causes him to cross paths with Frankie Amato, alpha of the independent Rochester pack who will stop at nothing to keep her pack safe. With the killer going after both human and werewolf prey on her turf, Frankie launched her own investigation before her pack became the target of both the killer and hunters alike. The immediate attraction between Frankie and Jace is as powerful as their hatred and distrust. A tentative alliance between them could help bring an end to a bloody killing spree, but giving in to their desire might prove even more dangerous.

This book is the first official installation in this romance series, but there are others prior to this that take place in this same world and feature some of the other characters. I have not read the other books and had no problem picking this one up. The political dynamics between the different packs and the evolution of the Execution Underground through the ongoing and shifting conflict with different supernaturals is all very interesting. I can tell the author knows this world well and that really enhanced my experience reading this book. However, this book is very narrowly focused and I was left wanting to know more. Though it is not required to read the other books before picking up this one, other reviewers have indicated that the world building is much stronger in those and could scratch that itch.

I think where I really struggled with this one was that it almost felt like it didn’t know what it wanted to be. There were so many tropes being flung around all at once that none really had a chance to go beyond what was expected. The characters themselves were also unnaturally antagonistic towards each other. Some of this is ok, but without anything else to balance it, most of the characters felt flat and were hard to care about. Unfortunately, this includes Jace and Frankie. I was hoping that Frankie would be a strong character that could counteract Jace’s typical ‘cocky, dominant protector’ role in an interesting way but was let down. This played out like most romances featuring a Jace-type character and that’s just simply not my thing.

Rogue Wolf Hunter is fast-paced, and Kait Ballenger doesn't beat around the bush. It starts right off with danger and action, and even a bit of sexual tension between Jace and Frankie. I really liked the premise and where the story went for Jace in particular. It added a little something I didn't expect, and it made for an intriguing storyline. There's good chemistry between Frankie and Jace, and I liked that they're fated mates and they want each other, but they seem to have some say in how things are going to go. What I liked even more was the camaraderie between Jace and his fellow Execution Underground team and extended coworkers (for lack of a better description). The banter between them is a bit of levity to break up the tension and danger they're facing. I would've liked to have seen a little more development of some of them, but I'm hoping to see more of them in future books, so I expect that to happen as the series progresses. World building is minimal, but it didn't really need much. What we need to know about Jace, the Execution Underground, Frankie and her pack, etc, we get as the story continues to move forward. I thought I had the big baddie figured out, but it wasn't quite who I expected. It's always fun when the twists get me, and I liked this one. To sum it up, this first Rogue Brotherhood book is exciting and entertaining. The characters are likable (the ones we're supposed to like anyway), and I'll be looking forward to seeing more of them as the series continues.

I originally read Rogue Wolf Hunter when it was initially named Twilight Hunter, released in 2013. When Kait Ballenger mentioned she was re-releasing her EU series with a new book/series name, I was all for re-reading the books, especially when she stated there were more to be added to the stories. Yes, ma’am. I’m all for revisiting a book I already loved. It’s like visiting an old friend you’ve missed so much. In this case, I missed Jace and Frankie’s story.

Storyline/My Thoughts: Rogue Wolf Hunter is with Jace McCannon and Frankie Amato. Jace is a supernatural hunter, but the kicker is he’s also supernatural, and unfortunately, no one at the EU could ever find out, or he would lose his job. He dislikes his supernatural side, especially when it reminds him of his father, whom he despised. His father was a very abusive man who used to take it out on his mother. Jace doesn’t want anything to do with this father and the side that his father gave to him.

For the last few weeks, Jace has been trying to figure out who is killing the young girls around Rochester and the EU keeps jumping on his back because they think he is not doing his job, specifically the douchebag, Chet. (Don’t even get me started on how much I couldn’t stand, Chet. Grrrr!)

When Jace is out investigating one of the killings, he runs across a werewolf, but she’s not just any werewolf; she’s the pack master of her pack. Frankie Amato is also investigating who is killing the girls because she needs to find out if it is a rogue. Her duty as pack master is to find out what is going on. Although, she has reasons on that day why she is out by herself and not with anyone else. She never thought she would run into Jace, her sworn enemy. She feels something for the hunter when he captures her, but she shouldn’t since he is her enemy. There is something about the hunter that makes her wolf crazed for him. However, she keeps her identity from him because she can’t trust him.

While Jace and Frankie fight for their hidden feelings for each other, the killer is out there making moves to kill other girls and target people close to even them. The killer has his own hidden agenda on why he is killing, and it will hit close to both Jace and Frankie later in the story. Kait did a fabulous job of keeping me on the edge of my seat, trying to figure out who the killer was and what they were really up to in the book.

If you read Kait Ballenger’s Seven Range Shifters series, you’ll recognize some characters that debut in this series. There’s also a mention of where Jace used to work before returning to the Rochester division. I loved how Kait added those details to Rogue Wolf Hunter. I won’t give anything away on who shows up in this book, but I will say this, Frankie is supposed to marry him. Poor Frankie! She is on a hard rock in a hard place because she is falling hard for Jace. She will have to make a hard decision as a packmaster to marry the man she will never love that will benefit her pack or fall for Jace, who used to be her sworn enemy.

Rogue Wolf Hunter has a lot of action, suspense, and romance to the story, and I’m so glad I re-read it. I loved the additional things added to the story. Kait reintroduced the other hunters in this book that I’ve missed, too, such as Damon, David, Shane, Trent, and Ash. I can’t wait to re-read the next two books in the newly branded series.

I felt for both MMC and FMC in Rogue Wolf Hunter. Jace and his hesitancy of not liking the supernatural side of him because he doesn’t want to be like his father. Frankie and the other hunters encourage him to embrace it, especially when they realize what Jace actually is, as far as his supernatural side and that he could help stop the killer.

Frankie is a kick-butt FMC. She’s a female packmaster. That alone gives her the title of kick-butt. She is one of my fave FMCs that Kait has ever written (so far). She is on my list of fave FMCs.

When the MMC and FMC decide to give into their feelings for each other and have a one-night stand, it gets spicy in the bedroom. Jace is dominant in the bedroom. Oh, yes, he won me over on how he took over, and Frankie enjoyed it, too. She wasn’t expecting it. I love when authors throw in dom/sub (BDSM) in books.

I enjoyed the storyline of Rogue Wolf Hunter and how Kait managed to have me flipping through the pages of my Kindle again. I can’t wait to read the next two books in the series. Kait will make me fall hard again for the characters a second time. She’s one of my favorite PNR authors.

I give this book five stars, and if you haven’t read this series or her Seven Range Shifters series, what are you waiting for? Get to it!

Standalone or Part of Series: It’s part of the Rogue Brotherhood series and I would recommend reading in order.

Great start to a new series. I wasn't particularly looking forward to Jace, but Kait changed my mind it was a damn good story. And I love Frankie, the female alpha.

Action from beginning to end! Strong female pack master, not-so-human hunter, conspiracies and secrets everywhere. And a bit of heat. What a rush!

This is a spin-off from the Seven Range Shifters series of cowboy werewolves but you don’t have to have read them to enjoy this book. But I do recommend.
This story features hunter Jace McCannon who has a secret that drives him in his chosen work and alpha werewolf Frankie Amato who will do what is necessary to protect her pack. These two meet over a werewolf kill and are driven to find the monster that committed it.
This story deals with learning to love yourself from two different points of view. Steamy paranormal romantic suspense.
